One day I should really write out a list of cons about colombia and some of the horror stories i've witnessed. For now all im going to say is its a good idea to get contact information for their family and if you happen to know someone else nearby that contact information as well. Mental health treatment and diagnosies in colombia is poor and communication about it is usually not as open as it is in the states.
That would be an interesting post. I hope that you have time to write it!

PS: If you are a US citizen, you can also register with the State Department in the hopes that if there is an emergency, they can help you. Unfortunately, it seems like lately they have been not as good at it as they have been in the past.

I'm not sure how you get to that conclusion, but you're entitled to your opinion just as I am entitled to dismiss it based upon the volume and content of your postings in other threads.
You're a creepy bastard because you bang on about how you had sex with her, supposedly want a committed relationship yet come on a forum full of strangers to complain that she expects you to spend too much money when you are with her.

And I'm not sure what my posts (volume OR content) in other threads have anything to do with how I formed my opinion on your particular story. I suspect you are a sex tourist but like to convince yourself that you are not.

I'm definitely not a sex tourist, although it seems that people are putting me into that bucket. The sole reason that I mentioned that we had sex was because if I hadn't, there would have been many more people saying: "get the tattoo".
we tell people who have sex with cammodels to get a tattoo too. sex can be used for manipulation so it's not really a tell that it's serious. i also assume most people who are visiting cammodels are having sex with them. may it be a blossoming relationship, a love con, or an escort situation. we are adults here. we know what adults can do together. you mentioning amazing sex comes across as bragging and moot.

the reason why i believe you are possibly being exploitative is because of the language you used. how you only spent $500 and it's chump change but are you going to have to spend more?

are you looking to stay under budget or have a relationship? if it is a relationship, ya need to have a conversation about each other's expectations.

Oh sure I think it's a great idea to write about how shitty Colombia is and on top of that mention it's ok to ask about a model's family contact information. You wouldn't ask a normal model for that, but it's Colombians, am I right?

I always try to hold myself back whenever there's a topic like this because I know it's going to make me infuriated and I don't want to lash out on anyone. But some things are just so gross.

Agreed. It flies in the face of every experience I've ever had when visiting Colombia based models. Always polite, decent and hard working. And as a result of a friendship with a model in Colombia, I've also interacted with a lot of Colombians who aren't models. Again, they couldn't be more decent. In my experience, a lot of things about Colombia are a lot better than in other parts of the world.

.......im colombian, have dual citizenship, and live here.....would you rather I write positive things?

Yes I would ask, why wouldn't you get an emergency contact if your flying to a forein country to meet someone?

I don't think it's a great idea to write that to foreigners. Maybe if you find a sweet spot with the writing, you could use that as a tool to stop incentives on sex tourism which would be great, but just writing horror stories about scams is bound to hurt the countries image even more, and as a consequence, the image people have on Colombian models. It can be a double edged sword.

About family contacts: the problem here is these guys are not really in a relationship. If you are, that's a different thing. But they are not and we both know it. It's not ok to ask a sex worker about their family contact information, period.

Eta: I couldn't care less about making sure that guys who are after cheap sex tourism feel safe. Just book an escort with a good reputation and you're good to go. You want silly middle aged adventures for cheap, I'm sorry, fuck around and find out.

Oh sorry different kind of horror stories, nothing to do with scams but rather crazy situations foreigners find themselves in that surprise them. Definite incentive to stop sex tourism :giggle:

Nice to see you guys support Colombians!!😍
Correct if I'm wrong but shemaybeaunicorn never said she what country she was from. I always think making assumptions of what you don't know can be risky.

How many years have you been in the industry?

Oh for sure! I'm not in Colombia but close and it's funny how foreigners always say "oh but you have such great weather" and "oh but people are so friendly". Yeah it's all great until you need healthcare, public transportation, customer service... But most of them will never live that because their money will always get them the VIP services.
Nice to see you guys support Colombians!!😍

I don't know for sure because it was long to read it all but I mentioned Colombia because of what I quoted.

By the way welcome and it's always great to see Latin Americans around 💕

I'm assuming you are Colombian. I'm only speaking from personal experience but my experience with models in Colombia has been fantastic. Great people, great sense of humour, always very polite. When people treat you like that then it's very easy to support them.

Where I live, all we get told about Colombia is pretty much horror stories, I didn't use to talk to anyone from there at all, then I started talking to one girl from there, and realized there's SO SO much more to the country, than what we learn here.. and it's so sad that we do not look at hte beautiful sites of the country. I have now talked to MANY different people in Colombia, and they are NO different than anywhere else in the world when it comes to scamming etc, because EVERY country have people that do these shitty things! it's time to stop treating people from there differently than you would anywhere else imo!

It's a god damn beautiful country from what I have seen so far, it has amazing people in it! it's true there's corruption and that really really sucks, I actually talk to someone from there about just that right now and how she also hates it because she loves her country otherwise..

The people are the best part of colombia but like I said the mental health diagnosis and treatment is poor. You don't really know someone until you live with them. Inviting someone over after a week of knowing them is a red flag.

One thing I really love about Colombia is the level of service that you receive. I've sent a few little gifts to my friend there and the customer service is out of this world. It's helped by the incredibly high levels of Whatsapp use. Every business from the smallest to the largest has a Whatsapp number than you can contact with questions. Usually the response is almost instant and always helpful. It's a level of customer service we should ponder in the so called "first world" where if you need any help with an order or a service you have to sit in a 45 minute call queue of "Press 1 for.... Press 2 for.....".

Another fascinating use of Whatsapp in Colombia is to get deliveries from your local shop. You know those tiny shops where it's just a single room with a person selling potato chips, sweets and cigarettes? You whatsapp the store, telling them what you want and they deliver it to the house. If there's any doubt about what it is you are after, they send a photo of the shelf. You then circle the item you want in the photo and send it back. Colombia may have it's problems economically but Colombians are industrious and inventive. I like them a lot.

Do you have a public health system in Colombia? Is it any reliable?

Customer service is not better in Colombia. Many companies do not care about quality or your complaints, what you going to do post a review? Many here pay no attention to reviews. The thing about Whatsapp is true but that's just cause it's free and it's easier to organize payment since most don't accept cards and they do bank transfers. You can't always get a live rep that can help you with larger companies, calling your isp is still a nightmare and you'll be doing it more often since most modems here are completely locked down.

Sorry I don't know much about the public health system here.

Colombia has universal healthcare and it's pretty good from everything I've heard (at least compared to healthcare here in the US which is a for-profit nightmare). I've never been in the hospital system there, but the stories I've heard have been generally positive. I actually need to get a procedure done that would cost me thousands of dollars in the US, and my family in Colombia has been offering to help me get the procedure there (help me communicate within the healthcare system, let me stay while I recover) instead and it is very, very tempting. Even though I'm not a Colombian citizen, it would be something like $500 in Colombia as opposed to $8000 in the US. And that's not just due to currency exchange, it's that universal healthcare is superior to for profit healthcare systems when it comes to costs. It would be a no brainer if it weren't for the anxiety of not knowing the language well enough (especially when I'm in pain and on meds) and just generally being far away from home while sliced and diced.

If you're going to do it you should do your research about the procedure and typical after care instructions and ask questions if you feel like anything is being left out because sometimes they don't have written standard after care instructions for procedures. Oh and remember the name "fenalgex" because you can order that on rappi and its basically vicodin.

Thank you for the advice cbhours.

And sorry if anyone gets confused, I deleted my post because I thought I was being rambling and self-involved about something not actually related to the original topic and thought I did it quick enough that no one had read it. 😅
