So I figured this would be a good place to open a discussion about this topic. I'm currently trying to help a model remove some content from AnonV. I'm guessing some of you may be familiar with that site. It seems they don't comply to DMCA requests. Shocker. First, I wanted to know if anyone here has had any success with that (doubtful). Second, I wanted to follow up on a this thread: https://www.ambercutie.com/forums/threads/taking-legal-actions-to-sue-dmca.32862/.

For a long while, we had an issue with camwhores(tv) sharing our content. I went as far as to contact a lawyer in Cypress to get a quote on what a lawsuit would cost, but they wanted an ungodly amount so I didn't end up going that route. I did end up finding a DMCA agent who somehow could remove content from there so I ended up going that route instead. It seems like these two sites are in some way affiliated but I'm not positive. Anyhow, the reason I'm bringing this up is, I agreed with the original poster in that thread. If enough girls want their content removed from these sites, you'd think there could be some sort of class action against the site owners/hosts. I realize they reside in locations that make this difficult, but I feel like something should be able to be done about this. Do we all just accept the fact that they can record your shows, and as long as they're in a "safe" location, it's ok? Because it's too hard, we just say fuck it?

Sorry, I'm on a bit of a frustrated tirade because I'm really feel bad for this model who wants her content down from this site. I just don't think this should be acceptable behavior. Our models don't even really offer free video and it's still a big issue. I can't imagine what a mess it is for all the free streaming models. It's hurting everyone's business here and the only people making the money are the ones stealing the content.

Good luck! With the increase in easily available cloud storage capacity, I feel the problem is becoming worse, not better. There are now sites that mass record entire streams, not just 20 minute clips like it used to be. Recurbate(com) is easily even worse than camwhores(tv), basically a Chaturbate archive mirror. They seem to be based in Russia, as they link a telegram account. Likely sites like these will become more. At this level, I'm surprised that CB doesn't take action against them.

You make a valid point. I don't quite understand why some of the larger cam sites don't fight this more. Sure, maybe they're in it for free advertising. At least I've heard that argument before, but in the long run, they're losing more than they're getting from it (a lot more IMO). Not only are customers going to flock to the free content instead, but models are now less likely to do certain things like show their face or even cam at all due to it. I've contacted some of the larger sites in the past regarding their content on these sites and was basically ignored.

Don't care. I rather focus on my audience and people who want authentic at the moment shows that are not at potatoe quality. I'm at the mindset this is the internet and it is forever. There are websites dedicated to archiving everything they can get their grubby hands on.

I don't blame sites for spending that little energy other than a dmca. It's expensive to fight copyright. The film and tv industry has spent in the tens of billions to fight piracy.

It isn’t just about watching a recorded show—it’s the interaction that’s exciting and what gets members to spend otherwise no one would be on cam sites at all and be satisfied with tube sites. I find most recorded shows of myself to be super low quality and boring. The people who flock to recordings over the cam site itself weren’t looking to spend anyway. Larger cam sites don’t fight them because it isn’t hurting them enough for them to care. I’ve had people see me on a tube site and enthusiastically tip/do shows with me. There will always be piracy and I think anyone wanting to cam at all needs to understand these risks and determine if camming is worth it to them or not. I feel like the damage it does is mainly people getting outed or emotional distress VS sites actually losing money and losing customers

This is true...but in a lot of cases, they win. For example: https://variety.com/2016/film/asia/disney-wins-cars-copyright-case-in-china-1201950250/

Well if it works out for you then that's great. Wish that was the case for everyone. Unfortunately most girls I've talked to don't feel the same.

A good place to start would be speaking with Github / bitbucket and other repo systems to try and get the bot scripts removed from the site. Wont do much for currently running sites, but if someone has to code their own recording bot then it at least makes the barrier to entry higher meaning that there would be less of the sites poping up.

Here is the REAL issue at hand... camsites not only do not fight piracy or "turn a blind eye" because they have more pressing things to worry about which is the misconception. No. They bankroll these piracy sites through their affiliate programs so the people picking up the tab is the very same sites the models work on. Let that sink in. If it wasn't for the camsites these piracy sites wouldn't be able to operate because the volume of videos and massive audiences are still expensive to stream for. So unless you have the affiliate programs the sites would have to close down. Now think for a second how unethical this is. The camsites are using pirated content from their own models including things that were supposed to be confidential like true private shows... to bring traffic to their own site without compensating the models involved in it or protecting them in any way, I had my contact information including address leaked by one of them last year. The traffic is, of course, of an extremely low quality and arent likely to ever tip the models but the numbers look good on their sites and if they surround everything with banners like Chaturbate does they have fodder for their own CPC programs. It's revolting. If anything consider suing the camsites that are bankrolling these websites, you would win and they ARE located in the US so they do have to comply with the law unlike the owners of these piracy sites.

Every time these threads pop up, I tend to point out that the movie industry spends billions of dollars trying to fight pirating, and you can still get any movie you want online for free.

If the content was online, I mean like on pornhub. No one is going to pay someone else for your cam sessions. It completely removes value from pirates. More so, you get to make money on people watching the videos.

Movie companies tried to fight VHS machines that could record, CD-R and DVD-R for the same reason. They weren't very successful, because those technologies have valid reasonable use.

This doesn’t mean they should simply stop fighting the piracy issue. They should keep fighting it and at least make sure the person who wants to see the movie has to choose between spending an hour of their lives hunting down a decent file or paying the $12 it costs because many people value their time more than money so if it’s quicker to find the pirated version that’s the one they will watch while if it takes them a minute longer they will pay.

Being forced to upload their stuff to Pornhub for the world to see to avoid getting their stuff pirated looks a lot like a form of extortion. For many models this isn’t even about earnings but about protecting their identity and their sense of privacy. Most models have a few regions geoblocked and piracy sites don’t comply with geoblocks same goes for Pornhub if your video goes viral enough. And for some it is about earnings and uploading to Pornhub can be a terrible idea. Not all models have universal appeal and garner 100kviews per video to collect the ridiculously low earnings Pornhub would grant them. Some of these models have a small following, a specific niche or maybe just a small community around them of people who highly value them for a specific reason. This model could make a living selling her content to 5 people at a high price but what happens if her content is uploaded to Pornhub? She loses on her 5 sells without making anything back from the 50views her video got. So... no. What should happen is cam sites fight piracy sites and side with their models. It can be done. MFC decided this year that they were going to get in the business of selling show recordings and for the first time in 10 years they decided to do something about pirate sites since they now will consider them competition and it’s working. Other sites are deciding to instead well...PICK UP THE TAB and use their own performers like cannon fodder. If models wanted they could band together and do something about it, but we all know collectives suck

The difference is when you talk about vhs and cd-r's your talking about a technology which did have a valid use which is completely different from a platform allowing scripts that are designed to collect pirated content, I am not saying that github should be removed, but the content that they host should be held to the same standard as any other file host.
