I'd just like to say that out of my 20 top active tippers the count of them that have quit MFC in the past month is up to 6 (that have informed me they are not going to tip me on MFC anymore or can't access the site). This shows how much the recent crashes and issues with the site have driven away members. At least for me.

I personally have had serious issues with the broadcaster either not working or logging me out at random. I also sometimes don't show up as online when I am in fact broadcasting. The past few days have been fine, I haven't done a show but I've tested the broadcaster and it seems to work okay. I hope it stay that way.

My room count is about half what it was before the crashes, which is in part my fault since I went to stream at a different site for a while. But also, these factors are definitely contributing to the slowness of MFC for me.

If the site continues to have issues and go down at random times and fail to solve broadcaster issues for their models, I forsee these numbers continuing to go down. If things continue to work like they have been for the past few days, I think MFC will gain it's traffic back in no time. Essentially, I'm just riding it out and also focusing on my twitch streams more until these issues are resolved. I've thought about other camsites, but I just don't have the energy to put in the hours to build up another following right now (especially since I'm doing that with twitch already). I think these next few months will be crucial to my decision to keep MFC as my main-earning site. Though I'm sure I'll never totally quit the site, it is currently too scary to trust it as my main earner.

*insert 2 cents emote*

....On facialover's post (lol that name), a revamp of the rewards system would be great. As is I don't see much point to the system unless you are actively checking a member's points like Sansa mentioned. Even if its a small change like having a hidden model-visible changing score similar to the camscore system or a larger change like something better than getting access to a more exclusive lounge room that no one talks in....

Agreed. The rewards points system doesn't seem to have any substantive purpose other than allowing models to see a member's spending potential. Nothing wrong with using it that way; it's perhaps the best way for a model to ascertain the "reputations" of the hundreds of unfamiliar/random members that flow through her room. It just doesn't seem to benefit me as a member very much.

I've never hidden my tokens or points; just haven't given it much thought one way or another. I would be interested to know how models view (or "evaluate") a member who does have his points hidden. Do you assume that he has relatively few points, or an extremely large number of points, or what?

I don't assume anything ever. Most of my main tippers have both hidden. I have had a few new regs join my room who had virtually no points and have become some of my most loyal and biggest tippers, while some members who have huge points and no tks are there night after night not talking and not tipping. I even have a couple of guys that come in with the same amount of tks everytime attempting to take up time based on the fact they know you can see they have X amount of tks and hope you will give them the time of day in an attempt to get the to spend it on you. These guys will never ever tip me, and their points never go up lol.

I suppose the jist is it doesn't really matter what the numbers are, if they are going to tip you they will and if not well they won't.

It used to drive me crazy to have a member sitting in my room for a while with 969 tokens visible, and not chat or even tip at all. I wouldn't be surprised if some of them have this "I'll just hang out here 'til my favorite model gets online...I'm saving my tokens for her only" mentality. If so, I think it sucks, and I would have actually preferred if it they just watched me in guest mode. Seeing that blue screen name in my Premium Members list would fuck with my head. Lol. I used to always get a glimmer of hope every time a premium entered my chat (thinking "YAY! Someone else who just may chat and/or tip!"), but I've sorta "trained" myself to not even get my hopes up like that anymore. Haha.

Maybe most of you have noticed it, but I have seen that the bumber of girls camming this year is higher than usual it was 1 or 2 years ago and the numbers of tippers have remained or even decreased (I can't judge properly as I'm not a full time model or a top earner). Also it has seen that most of members wait to models' regs to tip for countfown while doing nothing and I also noticed that many models sell a lot of videos and content super cheap so I think if you put that cheap, why members would bother into tipping for countdown if they can see it the same for less money?
Of course most of dudes want to see it live, but, selling things ultra cheap *always* I don't see it as a good idea.

Given, I haven't watched every model on the site, but a lot of us offer these vid deals as incentives to get people tipping, as a lot of us let those tips count toward the countdown - so the members get to tip xxx, it goes to the countdown, PLUS you get all this porn! Cheap people like deals, and regulars like getting their favorite model's content, so everyone wins.

I did it myself today because of how slowly MFC was today and I often do it when its crazy slow! But doing it always, I don't see it a good idea, most of time I prefer to sell them as expensive as I can because selling it more exclusive is a good marketing strategy (in my opinion ofc); if you as a member want more special content of me, get involucrated and tip more!

Interesting. No problem with you (or whoever) checking member reward points, but I think this is the first time I saw a model acknowledge it. I've been hiding my tokens and score for a long time because I assumed that was happening based on some other models' behaviors.

Maybe then we'll even be rid of the occasional member who hijacks a room just to brag about how many reward points he has. Though, I guess even the bragging may be welcome if the room is 'dead' enough.

I've hidden mine since about my second month on MFC which was 6 years ago. The reason I did was because I noticed a model kicking out premium members who apparently didn't have a high score or who did not have tokens.

Bingo, the first 2 years I didn't tip anything past my initial 200 tokens. Not because I am a cheapskate, far from it, but because I did not find any model that I WANTED to tip. I've tipped several models 4 figures (not tokens dollars) because we had good chemistry. Someone's score has nothing to do with whether or not they are going to tip YOU, just that they have in the past.

Maybe most of you have noticed it, but I have seen that the bumber of girls camming this year is higher than usual it was 1 or 2 years ago and the numbers of tippers have remained or even decreased (I can't judge properly as I'm not a full time model or a top earner). First bold point. Yes the number of models is higher, which is something I mentioned initially that the supply of models is higher so the equilibrium price is down.

Bold point two, yes and no.. First, many non regulars are smart enough to wait to see if regulars will tip you to make your countdown go down. I've seen many models who put up a ridiculous countdown (6000 tokens for the first countdown) only to bail as soon as their first countdown is over or bail half way through. Consistently. That's absolutely their right, but it is also my right not to tip them.

Second, videos have to be cheap. Guess what the cost of videos on pornhub is. Almost 0. The cost is my opportunity cost of going to pornhub instead of watching a girl live. Frankly watching live has a premium price over the videos. I have bought probably 40 or 50 videos and watched each of them maybe once or twice. I also find the majority of the videos to be of low to medium quality and the live sessions to be of a higher quality.

Over the last 6 years I have run the gamut from the default of being a noob and showing both tokens and reward points, to the other extreme of having everything hidden. My present position of showing total reward points and an approximate value for my tokens seems to work ok as I don't get any grief over it. To complete the set I have PM's set to "friends only", so I don't get any pester PM's if I tip in a room. :whew:

I know for a fact that there are some MFC models who will view a member with suspicion if he hides everything. A few will even go as far to expose impoverished members by showing on screen their token info (or lack thereof) to the room… so hide everything at your peril. Other models will even auto kick a member who hides everything if they suspect he is just a tokenless lurker.

On the camsore topic... I have an idea. I think it would be best if that item was dropped entirely from being on model profiles and not ever visible to members, but only visible to the model herself from within her model admin.

According to MyCamgirl.net MFC is currently gaining new models at the rate of 145 a day, but 86% of those are gone in 5 months. http://mycamgirl.net/myfreecams/infographic

I remember that a few years ago MyCamgirl said that hump day was always the slowest day of the week... as fewer groups and private shows happened on Wednesdays.

That page is like catnip to a data junkie/database developer like me. I can appreciate all the programming that went into it (and the rest of mcg). I do wonder where mcg gets models' ages, since what they put on their profiles is obviously bogus half the time.

I was watching a Russian model on MFC earlier, she was using the most huge toys etc putting on quite a show. She had 170 viewers and a 800+ camscore. Meanwhile over on CB her room had 6000+ viewers.

A pretty massive difference

The way the rooms are sorted on the sites makes a big difference obviously. Under 1k cam score isn't very visible in MFC but a crowded room on CB snowballs bigger and bigger.

I find it interesting that you use that as a freeloader alert. There are several, nay MANY, big tippers that hang out in the lounge and we DO discuss models. This is an entertainment industry, whether people want to believe that or not. If I want to look at a still body naked there are photographs for that. This is about the interaction between the entertainer and the customer.

I used that term for that member because he was rude after I made an otherwise nice post about explaining why I sometimes check points.

I didn't mean to offend anyone other than the guy who has a problem with me doing my job. Like, if someone is constantly blowing up my chatroom and is annoying other members and never tips yet feels like they should be allowed to do that because they have over 50K rewards points, well I don't owe that member anything for whatever he's given to other models in the past.

I completely agree, I think that the rewards points as well as the camscore are mute points. I don't consider camscore whether I like a model or not I consider her as a person. I think the same should be true for members.

so you're the type of model we're warned about in the lounges

Speaking of "types"...you have to use your best judgment when listening to some of these people complaining in The Lounge...or better yet, don't just take their word for it...check out the model for yourself to form your own opinion. :) Some of those members in The Lounge are the type to get banned by 12 different models in one night, and swear they didn't do a thing wrong. They will tell their tale of woe to other members/models while conveniently leaving out certain details...like the fact that they visit their favorite model every night, never tip, but say things like "Looks like I got here just in time!" when they enter during a flash...and yell at other members "TIP HER, YOU CHEAP BASTARDS!" before they proceed to go on and on about all the video games they just bought today from GameStop. Lol.

I've bought about 20 courses from http://www.thegreatcourses.com/ and while the list prices of the courses are pretty high, in practice, I can't imagine anyone paying list unless they have to have it right now. TGC is always running sales of various types. I get emails, I get mailings, I see ads in magazines. It can get annoying at times. But, it works!

I agree with @SaffronBurke except that I think most members like a good deal, not just cost-sensitive (i.e., cheap) members. It's psychologically satisfying for the buyer, and it creates a sense of urgency and interest that can lead to more purchases, and indirectly to more participation.

The point about having these purchases count toward the countdown is especially important. It generates more sales because members feel they're getting more for their money. It generates more engagement and activity in the room because things are moving along at a brisker pace. I'm surprised this approach isn't used more often. The key is to not overdo it like The Great Courses sometimes does. And if you say that the sales prices are good until such and such time, make sure to cut it off at the stated time (I often see models running the same "today only" sale day after day). Finally, if purchases go toward the countdown, mention that fact every time you mention your content (whether or not it's on sale).

Nothing new or original here. I just have the impression that, especially for newish and non-established models, purchases of content/snap etc. are underutilized as tools for making the chat room more active.

So, when I first started, I used to do games at least once a week. Lots of hangman especially, because I like words, haha. I even thought about doing board games where I would move the person's pawn for them after they tipped. Until I noticed that every time I started a game, the people in the room would drop more than half. Trust me, I would LOVE to be able to do games. It was a lot of fun. But the payoff was not worth it. I realized that it was only when I was basically dragging people into a conversation that they actually stayed.

Also, laughing at the "Looks like I got here just in time!" comment. So many people I thought were my friends because they tipped me 50 tokens on my first night, never did again, and always conveniently started showing up "just in time," and would announce it to the room as I was starting a cum show. There comes a point where you have to drop people who tricked you into thinking you were actually friends, no offense.
