1) Did you pick your name, or did someone give it to you? Why that name? Tell me your title origin stories!

I've always loved the name Aria, and I love opera. Fae is a nickname of mine, since I'm an evil woodland pixie :p

2) Have you ever had a name you performed under you disliked/hated?

Yes, my old name was too much like a real name. I had some guys get too real on me, and it got weird. Plus I hated the way it sounded after a while.

What about you guys?

It's funny you started this thread today, I didn't notice until this moment, but just sent you an MFC mail about your name. :D

Whoops! Let's have none of that, can I just have my twitter handle as my name? Pookie_Fae

I think I wanted something generic (heh, Generic) and always liked the name Gen. then for some reason I thought about Gen X (like generation X? I don't even know which one that is) and GenXOXO came from there.

I once worked for a place that assigned names and I was given Dixie. That was ill-fitting and weird.

I picked my name, I wanted something good kind of androgynous. Like when a girl is called Bobby I think it's adorable.

I went by my middle name as a kid and other nicknames in adulthood. I hate my real name. It's a common stripper/camgirl name and every time a character is in a movie with my name she is usually an airhead or slutty Mcgee.

I love this thread! I will share as well!

My first name, Laylah, is in honor of one of Aleister Crowley and his most influential muse whom he called Laylah. He also referred to her as the Scarlet Woman, or the Sacred Whore of Babalon. (Babalon being distinctly spelled differently then Babylon, as Crowley adopted the word for his own religion known as Thelema.) He admired Laylah very much, and she and Crowley were distinctly sex-positive and embraced their sexuality via sex and magick. I've always admired both of them for that, and Crowley's books and philosophy have impacted my life in a very positive way. He was also considered, and still is considered by many, to be the wickedest man in the world because he was a vocal social critic and challenged the Abrahamic faiths and social/sexual norms. I wanted to embody something radically positive in a subconscious way, and Laylah worked perfectly for this.

My last name, Noxx, is derived from a Thelemic concept known as the Night of Pan, which is comparable to what occurs after one experiences ego death during the journey known as the Dark Night of the Soul. Crowley stylizes the Night of Pan in his books as N.O.X. I just added an extra "x" at the end.

I've always enjoyed picking names out for myself, and come up with different ones often. I aim to manifest my goals when I pick a name, and I wanted something super special for my current career.

In a previous life I was a teacher; thus, teach. I didn't like how ITeach looked in type, didn't care for iTeach or iteach as it looks like something that came from Apple (definitely NOT a fan of Apple products) so I went with eyeteach as a play on the fact that I teach. Other than that I got nuthin'.

Thanks Amber!!!

So, a change in my story... Pookie is Garfield's teddy bear's name. He's straight gangster, much like me. *Sips soda thru crazy straw*

My real name is Natalie & I love giving kisses, so NatalieK was an obvious name of choice by me since 2006 when my partner & I began shooting porn movies and entertaining in our own parties and on live cam. Since then, I´ve never used any other name apart from my own real name Natalie K.

I like my name & wouldn´t want to change it or be called by any other name :) xxx

Dona Diabla was the name of 1950's Mexican thriller staring Mexico's greatest actresses and sugar babies, Maria Felix. Maria Felix was one of my greatest financial heroines because she invested her beauty and sheer ambition into a empire.Dona Diabla has been my top brand for the past few years.:cat:

As a newbie pso; I was working for a company that told me choose old-fashioned European names for my characters. Since I have an accent, they picked all Spanish or Portuguese characters for me to play. So, they decided that Lorelei, Urraca, Sancha, and Sibila as my character names. Those characters did not make hardly any money because no one wanted to call Sancha and Sibila.:cat::cigar: However, Lorelei was pretty popular as a character but I never liked that name. My Afro-Caribbean character was named Barcelona and she was also pretty popular. However, I hate all of those names. Every since then....I name all of my pso/texting characters.

I like the name Charlie and Charlotte and Charles and Chuck and really any kinda Ch name. Charma just reminded me of Shawarma, Shawarma isn't sexy though.

When I first started stripping the dj told me I had to pick a stripper name. I didn't have anything prepared, but during my tryouts this cowboy-looking motherfucker tipped me a ton for some scrawny, green haired, 18 year old chick who was wearing heels that were too big and hadn't seen a pole in my life. The cowboy dude came up to me at the dj booth and was like, "you should go by Nirvana, cause when I look at you that's the state I'm in." I went by Nirvana for 2 years and hated it.

I picked my name myself. I've played D&D as a rogue named Saffron for ages, because I'm a huge Firefly fan, and I love playing rogues, and the character is such a perfect fit for that class. I later figured that Saffron is equally applicable to sex work, because, as Inara pointed out, she's had Companion training.

Douglas Adams is my favourite author. I wanted something from The Hitchhiker's Guide, but unfortunately (one of the few things I dislike about it) there are not many female characters to choose from, and let's face it, Trillian is already taken everywhere. Lintilla is only in the radio series, and not even the first series, so it's pretty rare that anyone recognizes where my name is from. It's a good name to have if you want to be anonymous, because due to an accident with cloning machine, there are hundreds of thousands of millions of other Lintillas :)

I've used other names in the past that I grew to dislike. I won't share, for various reasons, but the main thing is that the names I didn't like were the sort that aren't anything like "real" names, and also contained words that made me feel constrained to a certain image or niche. On top of that, people didn't always know what to call me, because a couple of the names were more of a description than an actual name. That gets pretty old quick.

Before camming was my main income (or much income at all) I used either my real name or names that contained parts of my real name. I kind of miss those days :/ I happen to like my actual name best, and I don't like maintaining several personas. I still don't really keep that name on lockdown, but I also no longer put it out there by default. Basically any name I use other than that is one I'm going to dislike. Including Lintilla. They have never and will never feel right. I've wanted to change my name from Lintilla for awhile now, but I hate hate hate hate anything I come up with so far.

I named myself after a punk rock opera album by Fucked Up that they wrote as a spell after reading the Invisibles. Veronica was the main lady in the album and the spell was based on chaos magic.

I'm not into chaos magic anymore but I've done some sigils for my name as well.

I got the name Zana from a movie called Starlet. It was the main girl's roommate's porn name :haha: I just thought it was simple but unique

I chose the last name Ashtyn because I've always loved that name.

And when I put the names together I realized it was basically the names of the two main characters in my all time favorite book, Anna & Ashton. So, I'm happy with it!

I was obsessed with Doctor Who a few years ago, so "Emilia" is from Amelia Pond and "Song" is from River Song. It's also why I call my girlfriend Rose when I talk about her here.

I used to go by Emilia Meriden sometimes. In keeping with the water theme, "Meriden" sounds kind of like "maritime" or "marine", and "myr-/mer-" is the Welsh root for "sea". I guess its a town, too, cause people kept asking me if I was from Connecticut.

As for annoying nicknames, I don't think I've had any. I've had at least a dozen consistent nicknames (used for more than a few months) in my life. My favorite is Rage. I'm not a partclary angry person, though I am surprisingly eloquent when pissed. I will chew your ass up and spit you out with my Shakespearean-style prose!

I go by Luna, which is a name I've loved forever but I'm not 100% happy with my "last" name. My previous name was Luna Laani but I didn't want people to think I speak fluent Fin, so I changed the last name to Del Rey without thinking about people assuming I speak fluent Spanish! (I only understand English) At the time, I picked "Del Rey" for my last name because I thought "Luna Del Rey" sounded catchy and I like the meaning ("the king"). I'm not even a fan of Lana Del Rey or her music lol. So yeah, I plan on changing the last name again some day. :bag: I've changed my stage name so many times... but nothing I pick ever feels quite right! Plus trying to find a first/last name combo that isn't already taken on every site really narrows down your options!
