hi I am a 21 year old man who was thinking about joing a cam site, possible chaturbate. I was wondering if any cams girls, or cam guys explain if its safe? I dont feel great about the idea of uploading an ID to them... Also I was wondering if anyone knew if this was as lucrative for guys as it is for girls?

Ive always enjoyed going on cam for strangers, preferably women (though i doubt id get many women watching my cam...) i might as well try to make some money off of it right?

Feel free to PM me any links that might help, or any thoughts you may have.

Thank you for the time,

Riku

Don't start camming on any site that doesn't ask you for your ID! They need to see it in order to make sure you are who you say you are, and that you are over 18, and that no one is forcing you to do this etc. Also, how do you expect them to pay you if they can't know your details?
There's no reason not to trust a popular camsite with your ID.

Also I was wondering if anyone knew if this was as lucrative for guys as it is for girls?
General consensus is that camming is not nearly as lucrative for guys as it is for girls. That's easy to explain, women are not as interested in seeing naked men on the internet as men are in seeing naked women. Also, it's much much easier for women to find a guy willing to get naked for free than it is the other way round. You probably know how many guys are ready and willing to show us models their dick every day ;)
Gay or bisexual males are much more interested in male nudity on the web than heterosexual women are. You'll have close to 100% male members in your room, keep that in mind.

It can't hurt to give camming a try! If it's not your thing or you feel uncomfortable with the guys in your room or you feel like you're not making enough money, you can always stop.

If you sign up with Chaturbate or Streamate (the only two sites that come to mind that allow male performers), your information will be safe.

Read your contract entirely. Don't scan it; read it.

Even if you trust a website's staff with your information, think carefully about how you are going to protect your identity. As we all know, once a video of you is on the Internet, it ain't going anywhere. Granted, porn is so ubiquitous that ten years from now nobody is going to be searching for decade-old pixelated camsite clips (we will all be having sex with holograms, I imagine) but if you do this, people are almost definitely going to find out one way or another.

The best way to figure out how much money you'll make is to go watch solo male performers. Don't look at top male performers, because that's not where you'll start out at. Go to the bottom of the page, watch the average guys for a while, and estimate how much they're making an hour (and how hard they have to work for it).

Good advice has been posted in this thread. :) I just wanted to add that ImLive allows male hosts (they call models on there 'video chat hosts'). A while back, a guy actually made ImLive's Hall of Fame list (the top 120 models who earned the most in a pay period).

This thread has a list of camsites. Not all of them accept male models, but none of them will do anything fishy with your information. You do need to provide your information for all the reasons previously stated. Now, is it safe as in "will people from the site find out my real info"... if you're not careful, it's really easy for the viewers to get clues as to who and where you are. And yes, those who know you in real life will probably find out eventually. It's best to tell those you care about before they learn from a different source.

I also suggest you check out the other male solo performers. However, I think it's good to check out from every area. Remember that you will be starting at the bottom, but it's good to look at the top performers and try to figure out what they're doing right. BUT keep in mind that it's different for everyone. Being "yourself" (meaning, choose the part of you that you want to show on camera, and emphasize those qualities. Don't try to act.) is really important, unless you're a professional play-actor and can keep up a persona for hours at a time. This is all live, so there's no cut, there's no editing.

As was stated, most women don't really care for seeing a naked man, and those who do can become cam models and get naked men to pay them to watch. So, if you're not comfortable with performing for men, you're going to be in trouble.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes!

I will point out that I think almost every single young man I have met has talked about how they could try out camming, or escorting, with the idea that women will want to pay for their time. I have met many who have thought more seriously into it. A lot of the time this is very unrealistic.

If you want to attract women then personally I would do some research on how a lot of camgirls are on myfreecams, you cannot cam there, but a large percentage of it is about energy, conversation and having an engaging personality, as far as I've seen more so than on other camsites, when i have checked out male cam models they have been sat there, stony faced, barely saying anything, just getting up occasionally, which for me is pretty boring! I would wager that women would be a lot more likely to pay a nice engaging interesting young man than someone who's just sat on cam being boring with his cock out. In fact, if you were hot and genuinely interesting, I wouldn't mind spending some time perving and even paying.
I haven't done major research into it, but the few times I have taken a look, very few of the male cam models were attractive, and none were remotely interesting. I would say bringing some energy/interest to it might bring in more.
It is also unlikely you'll have lots of women willing to pay. There are many men who will pay me to watch them, so as was said earlier, chances are they'll be mostly men watching you, so be aware of that/what your market will be.

This is where looks come in, very few of the guys I've met who've seriously thought of going into this are actually attractive, or have a riveting personality. Yes a lot of men do think they are gods gift to women, but most who think it, are not. If you have spent any time with gay men, (I'm talking about the sex obsessed, pervy, on the scene gay men) you will understand just how much competition there is, these guys are spending so much time devoted to their bodies, and they are willing to show them off, for free! I have a lot of gay friends and have seen some of these websites they go on, there's really not much need for a gay man to pay a straight man to get his kit off, when he has a choice of super hot gay dudes to do it for free!

There will be a lot of competition, but give it a go, don't worry about uploading your ID, it's perfectly safe.
I don't know what your expectations would be, you could do really well, or at least earn some extra cash, (I don't know how much you can earn from it, sure it's worse than female modelling, but really that could mean anything, we can earn a LOT!). I'd just do your research first.

Let us know if you do decide to start camming/when you're going to be online and where and I'll try and come and perve on you!

Thanks for all the information everyone.

Originally i thought of trying out at a male strip club or something, but i really dont want people who might know me seeing me, and it honestly seems like over one of these sites would be rather anonymous if done properly. I made a basic account on chaturbate, (its nothing like my screenname on this site) if your interested,I havent sent in an ID or anything so you couldn't tip even if you would have wanted to in the first place, but feel free to PM me and ill give you the username im using at the moment on their site.

I consider myself straight, but i am a bit on the kinky side which guys and girls alike seem to enjoy. I tend to have a half dozen to 2 dozen people watching me after an hour or two(so why not at least try to get some tips out of it.).

I think of any online camming community forum, I was probably lucky to come across this one. Very nice, informative community you all seem to have (with an occasional perv or two of course, which we all are from time to time as well :p ).

I wish you the best of luck, Riku. I would love to hear some updates of how you're doing in a week or two!

I only read the first couple responses but can add that cam4 and flirt4free also allow males. F4F was my 1st site and i made almost 11k there my very first month full time cammiing. it was insane.
But cam4 is such a trainwreck.

I can second the f4f recommendation, I've heard that guys can do quite well on there actually. Homecams.com and the other sites in their network also accept males, not sure how busy you'd be there though.

You could always try your hand at selling clips. I'm pretty sure there's a decent amount of guys who operate studios under clips4sale. Just a thought.

Well, ive tried it out for the past 3 days. ive gained about 28 followers, so im waiting for validation of my paperwork now because ive decided if i can get 28 people into a room when the top guys have 200 or so that its worth trying.

I will be honest the fact that I enjoying being on cam as much as i do both tantalizes and horrifies me.

Your are all right though I will have more men then women by about a 90% majority( and to be honest some of them are quite disgusting, I hope i didnt sound like half of them when ive browsed cams in the past)

I havent told my family, but I did tell me closest friends about the idea. The one told me its kinda gay (sigh). The other one said a jobs a job. Both of which did say they wouldnt (at least openly) judge me if i tried.

Im nervous about doing this, but im glad I met this group. Having a community to talk with really helped me with how to procede.

The only thing i didnt like it the agreement i signed was their right to advertise with anything i do. ( if they so choose). I get the feeling they wont exactly contact you and let you know if they choose to do so. However i looked at a few other sites agreements and they all seemed fairly standardized, and a major company wouldnt want to negotiate on a nobody. So what the hell, right?

Oooh, I had never considered the back lash of a male cam model coming out to their family and friends. Screw the friend who said it was "gay". Good luck if you decide to come out to your family. I have a feeling it might be worse somehow for males. :\ Awesome to see you're enjoying it, a lot of fellas (and ladies) I've met who have tried it get discouraged about it pretty quickly. EMBRACE THE AWESOME! :thumbleft:

I went and checked out f4f the other day after reading this. You're right, those guys are fucking terrible! Lol literally the crap they were saying was like what guests/basics/people I'll ban on sight might dare to say to me.

Remember, problem is, men are a bit disgusting, no offence meant by that, it's just the truth of it. A lot of straight men are trained/taught very well by women so control themselves. Gay men do not have to worry about these things so much! Although not every man is disgusting, same that not every gay man is disgusting, but there is a majority, and gay men talking to other gay men will be a lot less likely to get a slap making certain requests. I noticed it when I was watching, I have never seen a girl on mfc taking any of the kind of chat I saw going on in each of those rooms, the guys were not remotely phased.
Basically where straight men can fantasise about certain things they'd like to do to women, that most women wouldn't go for, if a gay man wants to, they get to do those things!
I would imagine though if a straight man is talked to by a gay man about those things in such a sleazy manner, you will be just as disgusted as I am when a random guy says those things to me! Whilst if a girl said those things to you, you might be very turned on. I don't know, I'm not male, am just taking this from spending too long around men and gay friends!

A guy was in a room last night and said he might be able to make money camming. When I said he would have almost all men watching/paying for him, his reaction was "that's disgusting!"

My only reply to that was, "if that disgusts you, you won't really make it as a male cam model."

It's amazing how many guys think women go looking for this sort of thing, just like men. Are there some? Sure. But it's not like when men go looking for porn/cam sites, for sure.

I've thought about activating the ability to get tips on Chaturbate. I'm straight. But I make no illusions about who would be paying tips to me if I got tips. 99.999999999% men.
