what the heck does it mean when someone is listed as a PM viewer in your room? like what are they looking at, where are they? I'm confused as heck about that. I only accept PMs from friends.

Solution
It means they are viewing your cam from a PM window, instead of being in the chat room. They can see your cam, and a PM window. Even if they can't successfully type anything to you via PM (due to your settings) they can open the window and view from there.

I think some members don't realize we can see them and think it's like spying. Or they just don't want to see the chat room for some reason. Or they've attempted to send a pm and realized they can't and left the window open.

I think this is accurate! lol sometimes I still call them out verbally and be like "soAndso I can see you watching me, come join the chat!"

That was my next question, is there any real advantage to keeping them there, and not kicking them? If a bit of time has gone by and they are clearly just lurking? Thanks so much for the answers, it's been confusing me a while.

From my short experience on mfc they will lurk or do a lot of bla bla bla if u let them talk on pm and nothing except that or wanting skype shows . But im not specialist, for me mfc never worked so I was not often there

I can't stand it. Lol. Especially when it shows them lurking in it for several minutes.

Yep, me too. That's the whole reason I asked because it's been pissing me off. The same guy will just linger in there, never come in the room, and never spend. I'll be waiting to get a message or something and nothing ever happens. It's annoying. I didn't realize they could still watch my room in there. I thought they were sitting there forever trying to decide what to say, or whether they wanted to pay for the friend add/ pm privileges. So now it's even more annoying. Glad I asked. Not sure I can see much of an advantage to letting them hang out for long in there.

I kick them out after a while, because it drives me crazy. If you're not going to at least tell me hi, then log out and watch me in guest mode. Lurking my free chat for several minutes ain't cool.

It’s no harm to let them be. They can tip from the PM window.

Hah and now I realize I am probably in the minority in my stance. On a free chat type site like MFC just booting people for existing isn’t always the best plan. Lurkers exist but sometimes people who lurk for a while end up tipping or going into shows or purchasing content from your chat room. My advice is only boot them mid they’re actually causing issues.

But what do I know, right? 😂

Yeah on SM I have the habit of kicking them for just being there and not doing anything, but I tend to be more careful on MFC because more than a few times a guy who was just sitting there on pm ends up tipping or going private - if it's a basic member though, I'm not as hesitant.

This is also my attitude on MFC which is very different from my attitude on SM so when I simultaneously stream both I feel slightly bad for being harsh on the SM lurkers and not the MFC ones 😅

But the benefit of them on MFC is they add to the total viewers which matters for placement (depending on how people search). And I’ve definitely experienced it before where they’re quiet for like 1hr+ but when the countdown finally ends and the cumshow or whatever starts, they chip in. A lot are just lurking freeloaders ofc but I tend not to ban on MFC unless they’re the annoying chatty-no-tipping type 🤷‍♀️

Sounds like the logic behind not kicking them ( I’ve been kicking not banning, after a certain time) is that they may eventually contribute something. I’ll keep that in mind. Definitely not a logic I use on SM, but this is a different site after all. I’m never super comfy with lurkers who aren’t contributing in any way at all, and I like to run my SM room pretty tight. But I’m also a fairly impatient person so I’ll try letting them stay, and see if that doesn’t affect me in a way to sour my mood, and ruin my stream. Not sure I have your patience Amber, but if I did, I’m sure life, in general, would be a lot easier.

I did have a guy on SM recently who I chatted with in free chat for a while who ended up spending a big amount in exclusive too. I'm gonna have to think this one through a bit. On SM I'm mainly OK w lurkers who stay quiet, but recently my patience has been a bit thin w it, because I've been exposed to a lot of behind the scenes model gossip where its actually other models and not even guys. And not even new models at that, just bored chicks wanting to compare, and talk about other models a bunch behind the scenes. Which I have to admit has a bit of a creep factor to me.

Sounds like them merely being there doesn't have an effect on any kind of placement algorithm or anything though? That was one potential advantage I was curious about.

(Also sorry about the spelling error in the thread title everyone, that's kind of irritating. I cringe every time I see it.)

Also just wanted to add @Sashacurves I've been trying to split stream the two sites too, but only when its super dead on both sites. And Holy Hell is it driving me nuts! Very difficult as soon as either site gets busy. So as soon as one gets busy, I just stop split streaming. Not easy to do. Very challenging.

@MarieElise I'm the same, I'm more strict on SM and it varies with my mood. For me, the fact that there are far less people in the room on SM makes it more of an personal affront that they're rudely lurking, though I'm aware there's no real logic to that. I've also had the lurker-turned-spenders so try my best to let them all lurk as they please but if it pisses me off, I totally agree they're better gone than ruining the vibe!

How did you find out about the models lurking and bitching about you? That's so fucked up

Yes! I find it completely ruins the flow of the countdown on MFC being on SM at the same time right?! Also I don't know about you but I find it really hard to hype one room up without using site-specific terminology that makes the other room fully aware that I'm split streaming and I don't think they like that...

But the chattiness from MFC really helps get SM more active at least. And I've got a lot of videos on MFCShare so even if the room's not earning much, I think it's getting exposure for my vids

I've been on the receiving end of a lot of discord DMS over the last year, where experienced models are openly discussing lurking in other models rooms, in ways I would categorize as obsessive. It's hard for my personality type to deal with having this kind of info shared with me because whether I like someone, or perhaps don't, I'm not the type to go obsessed on them. I do my own thing and focus on my life, and try to manage my time well. So when grown women share this kind of stuff with me, I find it really cringey. And I've ended several would-be "friendships" over it the last year. I don't see how that even helps the models doing the lurking, unless they are a new model, trying to learn the ropes.

Also to be clear no one has been bitching about me (that I know directly lol). It was more gossiping and bitching about other models to me. But people who cross that boundary with someone else would cross it with me without hesitation too, so I choose not to develop friendships with people who have that behavior. It's extremely disappointing. Even if I don't like another model, I'm not the type to spend any energy talking about them behind their back, or visiting their room?? So I find it distasteful and strange. But as my partner said, you're gonna find the worst of the worst on the internet.

Yup this ^^^ exactly. It's like at that point I just gotta start typing individual responses. Driving me batty... But I do really like both sites. It's just traffic is down, and during the deadest times, I gotta do something. But with these 2 sites specifically its like straddling 2 completely different worlds.

Ahhh ok I get you. Very strange/immature of them. One of the best things about this job is no co-worker cliquey-ness or drama, why bring that on themselves? If they want a common enemy to bond over, pick the shit members not other models!

To give my perspective as tipping member, I follow and mostly "play" with a set group of models. For those, I like using the PM - Show Video feature, I'd rather have a direct or private conversation with the model while tipping rather than having my conversation mixed in the room chat with Lovense, Charlebot text scrolls, and yes, the non-tipping lurker nerd comments mixed in. However, do get how it would be annoying to the model having a non-tipper sitting in a PM session.
