If you couldn't tell by my avatar, I absolutely love portal. Its hands down my favorite game of all time. Solving new puzzles is what portal is all about and the custom maps make this game endless fun! I made this thread for people to share their favorite maps.
Nys-5 my favorite map pack. If you only try one custom map try this set, but not all in one sitting. It's very difficult. You will get frustrated, but in the end you will feel so much more accomplished than the main storyline made you feel. You will want to use F6 or press escape and make saves.

just subscribe and you have a new map!
However, if an intense challenge isn't your thing pick a popular map from the workshop:

There are some good maps made with the old editor like:

or
http://forums.thinkingwithportals.com/d ... &df_id=617
you will have to download the map. unzip it so you get a something.bpk file. put that file into your "steam>steamapps>portal 2>portal2>maps" folder.
start the game and press ~ for the console (you may have to enable the developer console in your settings) and type "map the_file_name_of_the_map_you_downloaded_goes_here" and press enter to load the custom map.
If you enjoy playing co-op there are also a ton of custom maps for you and a friend to enjoy. But, its harder to do because co-op isn't integrated with steam workshop. You have to download the map like I said above and then start a co-op game with your friend. After you both load in whoever send the invite needs to press their console key(~) and type in the console "changelevel the_file_name_of_the_map_you_downloaded_goes_here" and press enter to change the map to the custom map. you must both download the map and place it in the folder.
Here is where I get all my co-op custom maps from. Portal 2 is so much better with your robot friend!

I really liked this map, but the poor guy got disqualified for not including a file:
