I am not sure if it is appropriate to post this here or not, but there's no "marketplace" type forum, and it's camming related so this is the best place I can find. I hope this isn't considered "spam".

We have just started a new service called CamRedeem.

We specialize in providing a quick, easy, and safe way to send your files to the members who tip you for them. Never worry about someone sharing your link, and never have to deal with sending someone 8 links one after another when they buy all your videos.

Features

  • * Send multiple files in one link
    * All links can only be redeemed once
    * Very easy-to-use interface
    * Store 10 files (more can be requested) up to 1GB in size
    * We designed the site specifically for cam models.
    * 100% free during the beta period (at least until next year sometime)

We think the site speaks for itself when you use it, and we hope some of you will check it out.

Check us out at http://camredeem.com.

NOTE: Updates to site noted in this post later in thread viewtopic.php?p=228022#p228022

Looked, and I couldn't find any sort of Terms of Service or Privacy Policy or anything. I am hesitant to upload my videos to a site without some kind of guarantee that my files won't be taken and uploaded to tube sites or used to create a pay site or something.
Look at how much info Mediafire provides its users. I suggest you work towards something like that.

Also, why is the only 'cam site' option MFC?

Thanks for the suggestions. We will add terms of service tomorrow. In the crunch to to get the Site launched it got overlooked.

We are also planning on adding additional cam sites soon. If there is one in particular that you want we would be happy to add it tomorrow as well. We started with MFC because the model who was alpha testing the Site during development is on MFC.

You say above that you can store 10 files (with the ability to request more) up to 1GB in size. Does that mean 10 videos?

I notice that it says it's free during beta testing. What will the costs be after?

As an idea I like it, something I'd like to have on all of my video links is a terms and conditions box that they click agreeing that they will not send it/share it/sell it and the videos are for their eyes only.

As a website looking at how it is atm, I will say no. The site looks like an extreme botch job. It just doesn't look professional. Also most cam girls have more than 10 files to send/share. I am perfectly happy with using mediafire at the moment. For starters it's safe and I know it works. If I were to upload to your site I have no knowledge that things aren't going to go wrong and my members won't be able to open the files.

It's not something I'll personally be going into I don't think. There are too many men on the internet throwing sites together, either hoping to get a share in our profits, trying to find out our real names/locations from ID's or wanted to get free video content either for personal use or to share/sell elsewhere.

I for one am thoroughly fed up with hearing about new sites etc.

@isabella I understand that not everyone will want to use our site for various reasons, and appreciate your reservations about doing so. Having said that I'd like to address a couple of your concerns / points just to clarify for other models who may wonder the same things.

I'd like to start by giving a little background about why we built this site in the first place. One of our good friends is a cam model on MFC, and knowing we were programmers, she was complaining about a lack of good options for distributing her content. She wanted to be able to send someone a single link that would give them access to all or a subset of her multiple files while she was camming without having to stop what she was doing for more than a few seconds. She also wanted to make sure that someone couldn't just give that link to someone else and have them get her content without paying.

We decided that we would attempt to build something that is designed for all of you. We intend to listen carefully to feedback throughout the beta period (and after), and quickly implement requested features / fix any bugs that pop up. We want to set ourselves apart from the huge sites that are designed for generic filesharing by custom tailoring our site to your requests, and making our site feel like your site and not something designed for the masses. We want to maintain a good relationship with the users of our service, and make them feel like if they need something they will get it in a timely fashion. We feel we can do this because we are focusing on a specific community of users who's needs are all very similar.

If anyone has any questions, concerns, or ideas please feel free to contact us by either responding to this thread, e-mailing us at camredeem@gmail.com, or messaging us on twitter @camredeem.

We will add this feature tonight.

The site looks like an extreme botch job. It just doesn't look professional.
We will be iterating the site design heavily over the coming weeks/months before we leave the beta period. We spent the majority of our time getting the functionality perfect so that people have a good experience when using the site, and do not encounter bugs. The site design will look a lot different by the time we are done, and it's part of the reason we are not charging during the beta. It's worth noting that MFC is possibly one of the ugliest sites on the internet, but people use it because it works well (most of the time anyway). With that in mind, we felt it was important to prioritize the functionality over design for the beta.

Also most cam girls have more than 10 files to send/share.
This is an attempt to load-balance things during beta. There is a link right at the top of the file upload page to request more file slots. Having said that, I will bump it up to 20 tonight so it's less restrictive.

I am perfectly happy with using mediafire at the moment. For starters it's safe and I know it works. If I were to upload to your site I have no knowledge that things aren't going to go wrong and my members won't be able to open the files.
One of the reasons we started this site is that it's clearly stated in Mediafire's terms of use that using their site to distribute pornographic or adult material is prohibited. I know most models use it anyway, but it's worth noting that they'll suspend your account if they find out you are violating their ToS. That aside, I can assure you that we have tested and tested and tested again to make sure every function on our site works perfectly. If anyone would like, they can PM me and I will happily put them in touch with the model that tested (and still uses) our site during the development cycle to ask her any questions they may have.

There are too many men on the internet throwing sites together, either hoping to get a share in our profits, trying to find out our real names/locations from ID's or wanted to get free video content either for personal use or to share/sell elsewhere.
I have personally invested well over 100 hours into developing this site, and the rest of the development team combined has probably put in more time than that. I can assure you that we did not throw this together quickly to skim off of anyone's profits. Right now, we are actually losing money by making the site free, but we wanted to do so during the beta so we could get everyone's feedback and make the site as good as possible before charging. We do not ask for real names, locations, or IDs. Since we are not a primary or secondary producer of the content on our website and we are not the ones distributing it, we are exempt from needing to have IDs on file under the 2257 statute.

The last bit about us doing this to get free content deserves it's own section. To put it simply, if we wanted free porn there are a lot easier ways to get it than to spend the amount of time we have building this website. It's not hard to find free porn on the internet. We have no intention of ever sharing or selling any of the content uploaded. We are trying to grow a business, and if we violate the trust of even one customer than we risk all the hard work we've put into this so far.

10 Videos, or photosets (.zip files). I am bumping this number to 20 tonight.

We will not be charging a recurring monthly fee. Instead we will be selling blocks of "tickets". Sending a file will cost 1 ticket. When you run out of tickets you buy more as needed. We intend to make them as cheap as possible, and cheaper the more you buy in a bundle. The cheapest bundle will start at $5. We decided it would be more fair to charge people for what they use rather than charge a recurring fee every month.

For what it's worth, we want our site to be cheaper than Mediafire for everyone, but the most heavy of users. We feel our service will be better so we hope those that it does cost more for will use us anyway, but we plan to price aggressively.

To be fair, this "new site" is not the usual bullshit, it's a tool that can be very useful to models. If I didn't host my own vids and have a custom tool to send out links, I may actually try this.

I also appreciate the professionalism with handling the replies and questions here, too.

Thank you for your reply, I do appreciate that you handled that professionally. Part of being professional and doing business is being able to handle people being critical. You can usually tell when someone's either trolling or scamming after they get their first skeptical/questioning message. By botch job I don't mean ugly, I mean all I can go onto are two pages, both very simple, the first page, and the sign up page, no terms and conditions, no contact details etc. If it's the real thing then obviously most of the work will be behind the first page. But being simply two pages, pretty much anyone could have put it up. You are right about the free porn bit, it amazes me what lengths some guys will go to to get it when there is so much already everywhere on the internet! But there you go, people will do some very strange things. Why do men pay for porn/vids/shows from girls when they can watch them for free in the first place? Many cannot understand that concept!

I like that you're starting non profit, I actually suggested that to someone else starting up a camming site recently. It's better to get people signing up, using the site, and then you can perfect it during.
Not sure I like the idea of the ticket bundles. At the moment I use mediafire's free option. I would only pay if I were going to get more file upload space. Do you have a limit to your file sizes? What payment would you be taking? Would this be something that actually would work with paypal, or would they still class it as "adult"?

Is it possible to do a "site tour" type of thing? So that we can see what the download/upload pages look like. I could potentially be interested, at least in trying it out. Is the site already running or does it still have a lot more work needed?

Please could you post in here again when the site is finished so I can check it out properly, thank you.

I certainly understand the page doesn't look as good as it should right now. Believe me, I've been nagging my designer about it, but he basically said he wants to wait until we get more feedback from all of you before he makes any major changes. Like I said, what was important to us at the time was to get it to work as well as possible, and we think we have. I totally agree on the terms, contact, etc. I will be working on that tonight when I get home from my regular job. I intend to have it all up there before I go to bed. I truly appreciate all the suggestions and feedback. Like I said, we want to make this site feel like it was made for you, and that you all had input in making it what it is.

Not sure I like the idea of the ticket bundles. At the moment I use mediafire's free option. I would only pay if I were going to get more file upload space. Do you have a limit to your file sizes? We thought the ticket bundles were more fair than doing a monthly fee. The way we looked at it, when you charge a flat monthly fee than you wind up with a lot of people who are paying for more than they need, and a few people who are paying less than they should. By doing it this way people will pay for what they actually use. Also, having one less recurring payment come out of your bank account or credit card is always a good thing. As far as Paypal goes, we don't want to risk it. If they decide on a whim two months after we launch that our site is against their ToS because it involves adult content then they can freeze our funds completely. We are planning on using Netbilling for our credit card processing services when we do go live. I've already been in touch with a rep there, but put the discussion on hold when we decided to go free for the beta. Netbilling is a trusted payment processor that allows adult content. In fact, I believe MFC offers them as one of their options.

We will be limiting file sizes to 1GB during the beta. That may change when we go live, but if it does change it will be an increase and not a decrease. We initially limited people to 10 files at once in storage, but I upped it to 20 this afternoon. So technically, you're getting 20 gigs of storage, which is really quite good.

Is it possible to do a "site tour" type of thing? So that we can see what the download/upload pages look like. I could potentially be interested, at least in trying it out. Is the site already running or does it still have a lot more work needed?

Well, we were really hoping people would give it a shot during the beta. By trying it during the beta you get the opportunity to use the site while we are doing a very rapid update cycle. This means you will have real input into how the site will work when we do launch. We want this. We want you all to have your say in what would make your lives easiest. The site is 100% functional (meaning you can do all the things I've advertised above, we want it to do more before launch) right now, and if you sign up you can use it right away.

Secondly, we will be having a free trial after launch. Basically, we will be monitoring ticket usage during the beta while it's all free, and come up with a number that amounts to the number of tickets a model uses in one month on average. We will give every model who signs up when we go live that many tickets for free off the bat. They only pay when they run out.

Lastly, I've discussed a few things with the team, and we've decided that we want to extend an offer to the models of this forum, and this forum alone. We will not be doing this anywhere else. So far the input I've gotten here has been really helpful in planning our development, and I am hoping to get more such feedback in the future. We've decided that we will be posting a link tonight in this thread. Anyone who signs up using that link will be guaranteed a 100% free account until July 1st, 2013. We hope to be live shortly after the new year so it's basically 6 months free. Our operating expenses are low enough right now that we can afford to do this, and we feel once people start using it word of mouth will bring us additional business anyway so it's a win-win for everyone. We will be monitoring our storage usage, and when we reach a certain point we will likely have to take the link down, but it's still a great deal for anyone who sees this thread.

OK time for an update:

Looked, and I couldn't find any sort of Terms of Service or Privacy Policy or anything. I am hesitant to upload my videos to a site without some kind of guarantee that my files won't be taken and uploaded to tube sites or used to create a pay site or something.
I've added the terms of service to the website. There is a link to them at the bottom of every single page on the entire site.

something I'd like to have on all of my video links is a terms and conditions box that they click agreeing that they will not send it/share it/sell it and the videos are for their eyes only.
I've added this feature. This checkbox will have to be checked every time someone follows a link or redeems a code provided by a model.

Also most cam girls have more than 10 files to send/share.
I've increased the number to 20 for all new models. I'll also increase the number for all the models who signed up already as soon as I am done with this post.

Lastly, I've discussed a few things with the team, and we've decided that we want to extend an offer to the models of this forum, and this forum alone. We will not be doing this anywhere else. OK here it is: http://camredeem.com/modelsignup.php?promo=amber
Anyone who uses that link to signup is guaranteed a 100% free account until July 1st of next year. Even after the beta ends at the beginning of next year. Our site is fully functional (I wish I could update the original post to reflect some of the changes I made). If anyone wants to check it out and see how it works they are welcome to sign up for free. Just remember to use the link in this post to get your extra 6 months of free time.

Thanks again for all the feedback today. I hope some of you try it out so I can get more feedback about the site functionality itself.

A couple things:

One- Good on ya for the site creation. I wish you success.

Two- My credit card actually won't process through Netbilling. I may be a fluke, but I figure if it happens to me, it can be a problem for others. I think the bank or whoever said it flags as a gambling site when I tried to use Netbilling for MFC. I don't know if that's just something on their end or what. So I usually buy tokens with Epoch, since they have that option. Thought, I'd pass that along, in case you run into trouble.

Three- So far everything on the site suggests it's only a host site for models' files, but I see in your TOS that you'll have members who aren't models. What can they expect from the site? Or am I misinterpreting?

Four- And this may just be me being pessimistic, but I honestly don't see a check box keeping guys from file sharing. Let's be honest, most probably won't read it, and the ones that trade/sell files anyway are simply going to say, "Whatever. :icon-rolleyes: " I don't write that, hoping to detract from a model using the service, I just don't see it making a difference.

The check box needs be legal, it needs to have its own terms and conditions, so that if a model ever were to want to take a member to court over it then he would have agreed to her terms. It would act as a deterrent to some people, but really it'd be if a model ever wanted to follow something through, the member would have had to agree to clicking the box beforehand and then have gone against it.

I can certainly look at other payment processors if the community would rather it not be netbilling. Honestly, at this point, payment processing is the last thing on my mind because I have so many other things to work on. If you sign up with the link a couple posts back you can get a free account until July 1st so there's that too.

Three- So far everything on the site suggests it's only a host site for models' files, but I see in your TOS that you'll have members who aren't models. What can they expect from the site? Or am I misinterpreting?
Yes and no. It's definitely a service for models first and foremost. There are accounts for members who choose to create them. The way it works is when someone redeems a code or clicks a link that you send them they are presented with three choices:
* Create An Account - To create a free account and retain access to the files you purchased for as long as the model makes them available. (in other words, if you delete a file on the server, it revokes access to everyone when the file is deleted from the server).
* Login - If you already have an account this will add the files included in the link to your account for future access
* Redeem As Guest - This is a one-time use option without creating an account.

Four- And this may just be me being pessimistic, but I honestly don't see a check box keeping guys from file sharing. Let's be honest, most probably won't read it, and the ones that trade/sell files anyway are simply going to say, "Whatever. You may be right about this. I added the feature because it was requested, and it makes sense. There's no reason not to have a short ToS blurb before someone accepts a file you sent them. The reality is if someone wants to share your content then nothing is likely going to stop them.

Well, I've attached a screenshot of what I've done below. It's enough that it's proof that the person who downloaded the files knew full well that they were breaking the licensing terms of their agreement. However, in practice, proving piracy in court is going to be extremely difficult. The reality is unless the person does something really stupid like post the file to a video sharing site under the same username as they use on MFC or something it's going to be next to impossible to prove who actually did the uploading. Then you'd also have to associate these usernames with actual names and addresses. For the record, we do log IP addresses of every person who redeems a code to download files. The problem is we have no way of associating those IPs with actual people so if you wanted to go to court with someone then all we could do is provide you with a list of IPs of every single person who ever downloaded the file in question. You'd also have to prove that him posting the file caused you to lose actual sales which is hard to do because there's no way of proving that anyone who watched the video on the sharing site would have actually bought it from you if it wasn't posted there.

Piracy is going to be an issue until the end of time, and it's only gotten worse with the dawn of $40/month 20Mbit internet connections. I can't pretend that our site will stop piracy. All I can say is that it's a lot easier to take a standard http link and send it to a friend or post it on a forum or post it on twitter than it is to upload a 500MB file to a sharing site. We can't stop people from uploading videos once they have them in their possession, but we can stop them from ever posting a link you give them someplace else by making the links only good for one person. That is the goal we are trying to accomplish. The best thing a model could probably do is setup alerts at http://google.com/alerts with terms like:

- <Your Model Name>
- Myfreecams <Your Model Name>
- MFC <Your Model Name>

Then hopefully if someone does upload a file to one of those sites you'll get an e-mail when google crawls the webpage they uploaded it to. This will allow you to send the site owner a takedown notice as quickly as possible.

Here is the screenshot of what I've added:

redeem.jpg

What happens if the download fails? Can you try again, or would the model have to give the member another ticket?

Hey there!

Thank you :) This does seem to be a great way for me to send files, so I'm going to try it out.

slight problem. When I try to log in with the account I just created (email address has been verified), I get the following:

OK, I found the bug. I hadn't encountered it before because no model signing up had put capitals in her name. It was a database error. I apologize for that. This is why I like having a free beta so I can find these issues, and work them out :). You should be all set.

Awesome, it works!

Small detail- it still says only 10 files are the default. I'm thinking this is just in your wording, but I thought I'd point it out.

Fixed. I just never changed the text in the instructions to reflect the new file amount.

OK so we are trying to plan what feature to work on this weekend, and I am curious which one you all would prefer more.

1.) Detailed Code Tracking - This would let you click on the individual codes inside the "My Codes" section and view the details of the code. This means you'd be able to see the username of the person who redeemed it (or guest if it was a guest), how long ago it was redeemed, what files were part of it, which ones were actually downloaded, etc. Basically a way to go back and look at codes that you've given out in the past. This could be useful if someone claims they never got a code, or the one they got never worked. It would allow you to go back and say "Yes you did, you redeemed it two days and three hours ago, and you downloaded all three of the files after you redeemed it."

2.) File Listing - A sort of mini-profile page combined with a storefront. This would give you an area for a profile pic, some VERY basic information about you (cam name, links to social networks or profiles on cam sites, etc.). We don't want to get into doing a full profile page for models. We will if you all think it's the right thing to do, but it seems like every site you go on has a huge profile with all these things to fill out, and you've probably already done it three times on other sites. We'd rather just give you the ability to link to all your profiles & social networks rather than ask you to fill all that info in yet again. This would be coupled with a list of the content you've uploaded broken down by category with basically a title and a screenshot (or a generic icon if you didn't upload a screenshot). That when clicked on would bring you to a "File Detail" type of page that has the description, etc. This one would probably require us to add some fields to the file section of the database (Price, Length (for videos), a checkbox for whether or not to display it in the list (so you don't advertise custom content you may have uploaded to send one particular person) etc), but it would give you sort of a central place to send people from all the sites you work on now. Rather than maintaining multiple lists of content (or having to maintain a list at all because once you add a file it will show up automatically) it'll just give you a place to send people to see what you offer for sale.

We'd really like to know which of these features sounds like it would be most useful. If there's something else that you'd rather see instead then by all means please feel free to comment and suggest other ideas.

Thanks so much for all the feedback so far.

 I like both of them!

However, the first one helps us avoid member scams, while the second is just convenience. So I'd say get the first one up and running first, then work on the second.

:twocents-02cents:

I've never tried to make videos before because it seemed like too much trouble. But I think I'm going to start and give your website a try. I'll be sure to give feedback!

so, um... I can't get files to upload.

I get logged out of the site when the upload is somewhere around 85% done. I have a ridiculously good internet connection, but the upload is really slow anyway. I'm about to try with a smaller file, cause I was trying with a zip file of videos close to the 1 gb limit, but still...

GOT THE EDIT WINDOW! Woot!

I managed to upload a smaller file. But it looks like I won't be able to upload more than 700 MB at a time.
