It would probably help a bit, but you know certain people just wouldn't be willing to get more accepting, especially towards the more extreme fetishes/paraphilias, no matter what science would tell them. People believe what they want to believe and some just feel better about themselves when they have certain groups of people that they can hate on or find weird, for reasons that are literally in the brain, and therefore beyond the control of the people in those groups.

Evolution theory and global warming have pretty hard evidence too, but there are still people who don't believe in those and won't change their beliefs.
I think if scientists came along with new hard evidence for for example homosexuality being a neurological thing, then true homophobes, radical Christians etc. would still call it an agenda or conspiracy theory or whatever. This is very interesting and whether our sexual preferences are biological such as crossed wiring in the brain, psychological such as something stemming from childhood or some combination of the two (which I think is probably most likely), I am certain that whatever the reason is it is not a conscious decision and as such we have no control over them. We can choose whether or not to act on them but not whether to have them in the first place.
