Hello~!

I'm a new cam model and I'm loving it so far; my regulars and even basics/guests are seriously amazing! Super fun to talk to, very sweet and funny. Honestly I'm enjoying this as a career so far. I'm just looking for mild advice or tips that I could try to see how to improve what I'm already doing!

So my first few days were amazing, I started in the middle of the week on the 12th and did really well actually! Same through Thursday, I was making regulars and had a lot of tips and a lot of people engaging and chatting with me. I was streaming from 5-7 PST and it was a perfect time from what I noticed, I went into the weekend super excited and... poof. I couldn't break over ten viewers even during my late night streams; I tried to shift times a bit on Saturday and Sunday to something a little earlier in the day (3-5 PST) which did not pan out super well. Saturday was one of my worst days aside from today, not many people at all talking let alone tipping. I opened it up to basics and guests and luckily they've all been very sweet and help to make the chatroom engaging which seemed to help late night streams get some tips but so far I think I'm already in a slump.

Now I'll admit right here the biggest problem is my camera; it sucks hard. It's a regular built in one that I'm using to just start with but I did order a new HD webcam that will be here later this week. I advertise on my MFC Share when I'm online as well as Twitter though I don't have many followers and need to add that into my profile. But even with my okay streams my Camscore dropped from 1500 to 1200 and keeps dropping even with my alright streams. I'm not sure what I could be doing wrong or if I'm falling into some newbie trap of discouragement. My earlier streams did very well tip wise and often broke 30 viewers but now I can't seem to keep anything over 16 on a good day.

I have had a few regulars admit they're waiting for payday to start tipping me again which is totally fair. As far as what I do, I dance and have lots of room goals even more basic ones to entice, I try to tease without showing too much (like revealing clothes and shifting to show myself or subtle touching), I like to talk a lot when others are talking about everything! I have a lot of people say I'm great at what I do and I'm very sweet in the chat.

I'm wondering if my camera and my newb status are the biggest contributors. It just sorta seems like the tips and views dried up which is strange because I did SO well the first few days. Any ideas of what I could be doing better?

Having a good camera like the Logitech C920 is important, but it is normal that things slow down a bit after the first few days when you are new. Camming is a marathon and not a sprint, you are laying the foundation for future success. Right now you just have to keep on learning what things work best for you and cam on regular times. If you are still around and camming regularly in half a year you will have done better than a lot of models who try out camming.

Thank you! This is very helpful to hear, I'd love to keep going and I'm willing to put in the hustle for it, I already have some amazing regulars that I'd love to continue to talk to as well as ideas for future streams. I'm sure the camera might help a bit but probably won't catapult me into stardom or anything like that which to be fair, I'm not looking for anything like that.

I just want to be able to pay my bills and talk to some great people and have fun while I'm at it! I'm glad to hear I'm on the road to something good :)

Actually, here's another question:

I have a client that paid for a snapchat 1 on 1 session and is um... very very attached to me. He's often my room helper and tips me a LOT. Like a lot a lot but... he's very adamant that we have a friends with benefits things going and wants me to do snapchat 1 on 1 shows for him for free and I send him a lot of videos for free too and dirty talk constantly with him. This is on top of all the stuff I do when he requests me to on stream.

I don't mind giving teasing videos and stuff to thank him for being a room helper and stuff but like... he's kind of abusing the power. He hasn't paid for a 1 on 1 since and yet has been pretty adamant that we should. Like he wants me to talk to him all the time after a show while he's in bed when I've said I'm busy with my other job after shows and my boyfriend is still awake and I'd like to spend time with him. He legit is not understanding this or ignoring me.

He even mad a passive aggressive comment saying maybe is the worst word in the world because it's always 'no with a cover', I didn't even say maybe to his request I just said I didn't know how to set it up right now because I'm busy.

What do I do? Without him as a regular I'd make NO money but I can't handle this

You remove him as your room helper. Room helpers are not needed 99% of the time on mfc.

Next you either block him or you simply pay wall every single interaction.

He sends dirty talk you reply
"Oooh I'd love to dirty talk! I can do x mins for x tip right now"
Or you do not respond. Or tell him to stop.

Dirty talk is not free.

If he's chatting more than you have time for you can simply stop checking his messages, respond w emojis, or say "hey I'd love to chat more! But I noticed I'm getting so many folks wanting to chat I can't make time for so going forward my chat rates are x y z"

Also if he got a snap session but didn't pay to stay on your snapchat that's a reason to remove him right there.

These pushy dudes are super common .. they go after new models still learning to establish boundries. Everything you do has value. Paywall everything. This man is a leech and he is abusing your newbieness and it's shit.

Don't have a friends with benefits thing going on with a member for free. The time you spend talking to him for free while he is in bed is time you could spend on doing work that would earn you money. I have room helped for people and it is not hard and I have never asked for or expected payment for it. If he did something that took some real skill he would ask to be paid with real money and not porn. If he stops paying you should just get rid of him.

The best advice I can give you: be patient, don't despair if you have worse days, stay online for as many hours as possible, and stick to a schedule, that's how you build your community, and slowly you'll be where you want to be . Good luck

Thank you! This helped me a lot and I did put my foot down pretty hard, I did also learn that yeah, I don't need a room helper and he.. frankly didn't do much anyway as far as room helping goes. I even asked for him to help me out-loud yesterday and he did not.

Yeah I had a feeling he was using my newbness to take advantage of me and I think that's why he tipped so often is so I felt like I needed him in my streams or else no one else would tip tbh. And yeah he tipped often and a lot but the fact he wanted a 'friends with benefits' deal when he found out I was dating someone was random as I mentioned I only did the 1v1 because it was a huge tip.

After I sent my message with my thoughts as well as my bfs because he was also not happy with his abuse of the new cam model status; he tipped me 500 and basically said he's going to leave me alone from now on because my 'bf doesn't like him' which... he never said he didn't like him. He was just frustrated this client was SO clingy and so adamant on getting stuff for free.

I love the other tips you gave as well like dirty talk being so much and removing those who pay for a 1v1 without tipping for a permanent add. Thank you!

Once again, you have solid advice.

I did find it weird that they wanted cam sessions as payment when they didn't do much as my room helper. He also even warned me about people taking advantage of me to be room helpers.
Like he did tip a lot any time he showed up and sometimes would be the only person to tip on certain nights but it's not like I didn't do the things on my tip menu he asked for? So it was weird he wanted even more as payment for helping me. He also like ALWAYS told me never to do anything for free... except for him I guess lol

It is a common way for certain members to con new models, there was a member called RealReel who was infamous for this. If you ever watch new models rooms you will see this happen regularly.

I think someone tried to do the whole room-helper take-over thing to me as well? Some dude named Kmcchillen on MFC kept trying to subtly do this, including the tipping while nobody else does thing. His whole spiel was that he used to work for MFC and promote models. He even told me he was throwing an online party/stream for his model friend Lexi. I never made him helper or even texted him offline, so I think he could tell I wasn't buying it. Then one day I asked him about that party he kept talking about and he blocked me for like a month, then came back slurring his words in text saying stuff like "I tipped you and you didn't give me x, i have archives" I literally was just like "What are you talking about? 💁‍♀️" so he got mad and made a whole scene and was like "wow ok you're so terrible bye forever" then kept coming back, just lurking in silence 😂😂😂

Do not ever let these types of losers have any sort of power over you. They are the most beta mf'kers. 🙄🙄 I'm so glad you got out of that situation.

It's been weeks since your original post, so I hope you're doing a lot better and have grown!
I'm also a new cam model and I'm currently dealing with a lot of burn-out lol. My piece would be to have patience. Realize that real growth takes time and patience. And always prioritize your well-being. I'm honestly cutting back on my own hours because I've realized I can't cam if I'm moody asf lolol.
Also- be adventurous! I think when you're new is the best time to be experimental! You may have already settled into your own schedule now, but I would suggest streaming for longer. Maybe try to aim for 3-4 hours instead of 2 every day that you stream. I know I just said I was cutting back, but 2 seems short to me! The way I see it, the more time you are online, the more potential you have to make $$$ and gain followers/regulars

Interesting. I definitely see the need to build viewership and community and longer hours clearly will help there. That said, at least on MFC, I am sensitive to Camscore. Mine has been ok through my first couple weeks and I want to maintain it. If I really have nothing much happening I tend to get off after a 15-20 minutes of nothing.

How do people balance the two conflicting incentives? On the one hand, if you arent online no one can find you, on the other, if you are online too long and your camscore suffers, it gets even harder for people to find you. I am still trying to find what works for me on this.

From the way I understood it, any amount of tokens you make, regardless of the timeframe in which they were earned, will be counted towards your score. The only way to increase it is to continuously be online and make more tokens. For me it seemed to really only drastically decrease when I would be offline for a little bit continuously as I wasn't making tokens for the days in a row I was offline. But really, the only way to increase it is to make more tokens, which means you have to be online.

Interesting. I always thought it was based on earnings per minute (or some other amount of time - but basically it reflected earning rate not earning amount).

I mean I don't really know what goes into the math of it lol, but I guess you could assume that a model with a higher camscore makes more divided by her time online.
But anyway yeah, don't give up! Try to aim to be online for at least 4-5 hours a day and you'll build your following.

This is rank, not camscore.

Rank is total tokens you make each month. The more tokens u make the higher your rank. Models ranking 1000-1 get a bonus

Camscore is tokens per hr averaged over 60 a days averaged against the other models on the site. Camscore is one way you get traffic, as it determines your placement on the mfc homepage. The larger the # the better

Thank you for clarifying.

Edit: Wait, bonus? 👀 am I allowed to ask about it

I've been camming on MFC only since April and I've been very part time (about 10hours/week) my whole time but I'm scared of committing full time exactly because of this - the camscore system is scary! It's definitely calculated on earnings/minute because goes up and down depending on how good a day I have.

You have good and bad days and I find myself sticking around for longer if I'm getting lots of tips to try and make the most of it and boost that camscore. On the other hand on a bad day, I'm scared to stay on too long because I can just see the camscore dropping in front of my eyes. Gives a double blow to a bad day because you've not only earnt very little for your effort but you've taken a camscore hit too! It's very much a "get back on the horse" situation but I definitely struggle with that and don't know how you full timers manage it mentally! Do people tend to work more than one site e.g. supplement MFC time with another site that doesn't use such a strict system?

I dread becoming one of the girls you see with like 100 camscore working their ass off but getting no one in their room anymore!
