I never really used Twitter much before becoming a camgirl--now I love it and have gotten more followers within a month than I did my last one in years! I love this thread. Good advice!

I love the fact that twitter can be the most powerful tool we have for camming at the moment. Following grows really fast and people just seem friendly. I really appreciate the tips for Twitter! Hope it will help me in the near future!

Why do they even shadow ban accounts?? It seems like Twitter is more lenient with nudity, so I don't get it (unless someone's being racist, homophobic, etc.).
I think its mainly when you have auto tweets on and twitter regards it as spam. Ive now been unshadow banned for some reason in the last couple days. Im hoping it stays that way!

Nice post.
I also recommend to automat your twitter feed with buffer add-ons on chrome or firefox.
You can also setup twitter bot .It will save you tons of time ;)

GREAT post! I use much of this often. I find social media can tend to be time consuming and doesn't contribute much to my cam room. I have recently just gone back to the basics. The cam and me. Some social media, just got rid of my fb.

Oh my gosh.. I've been legit blanking on how the hell to use twitter. Lets just say the basis of my social media guruness ends at posting on my personal facebook. I use to to post sexy pictures and when I'm online... but never thought about posting cute stuff or random thoughts. I'm also figuring out how the heck to work snapchat, a whole other monster.

Social media is my weakness, I swear. Here's to improvements!

For my twitter and cam in general I'm completely honest aside from name, location and over things of that sort,I post what I'm up to/how I'm feeling. I tweet sexy pictures @ my top tippers/regulars and tweet at chaturbatea twitter when I'm about to sign on and sometimes they will retweet my tweet and boost traffic for cam and twitter. I treat my cam twitter as I would my normal twitter except more sexy/flirty/less political rants.

I do precisely this. It's important to include some non-sexy/non-cam related content, as it maintains that you are a 'real person' and not some intangible porn star. Cam fans like cam-models because of the intimacy and tangibility - if they wanted porn, they could get it for free just about anywhere. I share things from my personal life insofar as these things do not disclose or violate my privacy. Then again, I am more lax about privacy than most models I have met, namely because my career involves self-employment and I don't need to worry too much about all that stuff..

I run several twitter campaigns both adult and mainstream. I use to run them entirely different in the sense that I would never engage in mainstream threads on my adult accounts. I would only interact with other people in the adult industry because I thought if I put myself out there in the mainstream as a sex worker I'd get trolled.

But on the flipside I'd tweet away on my mainstream accounts.. ANY AND EVERYWHERE. Posting memes under celebrity threads, just living my best life really. :shame: So I had to change my thinking and decided that just because it's an adult twitter doesn't mean I can't insert myself into the conversation and have fun. So once I started doing that my twitter engagement went up and my target audience opened up as well. Now I have more exposure and more eyes on my profiles. I don't post explicit pictures or nudity anymore. Just mostly my real life interest: music, art, comedy and a few sexy pics sprinkled in. I try to make my tweets just interesting enough so that people get curious and click on my bio, and also I've found that by not being too ratchet that now even non-adult accounts are more likely to retweet me.

One other tip that I've found to work beautifully is to frequently change your name. Not the twitter @handle but the one that precedes it. One of my twitters has a very explicit name, so instead of changing that one I distract from it by making it silly af!

I'm sorry if I missed it but could someone explain how I could possibly find some more Canadian friends?
I love chatting with Canadians! I live in Canada and it seems they actually take a general interest in me and
are more supportive fans!

Tweet about Canadian events: bands, sports teams, tv shows, movies etc

You can even change the location of your trending topics to all of Canada or narrow it down to a city. This way you'll only see whats poppin there.

Yeah, I guess that makes sense. I always worry that one of my settings might not be working right haha!

You know, I don't always agree with using buffer. I feel as if you just post new tweets and FORCE
yourself to be on twitter more than you will be better off in the long run!

You have to actually engage on twitter for success. Most girls just post a pic and link to their show. That is it. And don't reply to any questions or comments on their posts.

The ones getting the most out of twitter are talking and engaging with everyone on there. Take a look around and you will see what I am talking about x

I use buffer and crossfire to keep !y timeline active when I know I'm going to be busy. Otherwise, I try to be interactive on Twitter. I generally do that while waiting for videos to upload to clip sites or something like that.

Thank you for the tips, Twitter is indeed a great helping hand in boosting our popularity and keeping in touch with our fans

Thanks for the tips, Twitter has proven extremely helpful for me so far. There are plenty fans who come from SM to my chat room.

Thanks to this thread, I just discovered I am shadowbanned. Not surprising, as I've had the account since '09 and have been stuck on 2k followers, for what feels like forever.

I dont use twitter outside of the cam girl world, I just use it for marketing and keeping up with actual fans and other camgirls. I literally JUST found a way to get myself to post daily and interact more, rather than using it for a couple days, then ghosting it for months, like I have in the past. I have the MV bot enabled, and Ive never been one to censor my photos on there.

Now I am wondering if I should start a brand new twitter (I was thinking about it before this discovery anyway, that way I can start fresh and only follow people I actually want to follow). I can start fresh and disable all the auto tweets from Manyvids, IWC, etc, and censor what I post manually. I'll be sad to lose the followers I do have (Andrew WK follows me, so does Margaret Cho and a couple verified rappers, lol!) but obviously sitting at 2k and being shadow banned isnt helping me. Ive been thinking about starting my cam girl instagram back up, too, I could do this simultaneously. I also just learned about the OnlyFans service through a long time regular of mine who was encouraging me to start that up.

Its not natural for me to post on social media alot, but like I said I just figured out how to get myself to stay consistent with it....so I'm wondering if this overhaul is worth it? I dunno.

Any feedback or advice would be appreciated. You guys rock.

Yup stop the auto tweets immediately. Its about engagement. The same thing goes for Instagram. Try not to focus too much on the numbers but more about posting relevant content and engagement.

When it comes to twitter, since you have followbacks from high profile accounts use it to your advantage. Don't be shy about commenting under one of their threads. This will help you with exposure. Get involved and talk about non-camming topics. People will see this and click on your profile to see who you are.

For Instagram depending on what you want to do, engagement is still most important. I find that I can sometimes make more conversions with my low level Instagram account than I do with the ones over 10,000 followers. Mostly because they're automatic minus the personality. More info here http://www.camhustlers.com/instagram-and-organic-growth/

The shadowban is an interesting topic because there's so much conflicting information. And Twitter isnt giving out the real details. Some think they're shadow banned when they really aren't.

But back to the original post automatic tweets from MV, IWC, C4S etc doesn't help. You have to spread them out between other stuff like your favorite show, music etc #ENGAGEMENT

It took me a while to start enjoying Twitter, let alone utilizing it in a way that is more beneficial to my business. Like... I really love interacting with my fellow models. But I am teeeerrible at remembering to tweet promotional posts - wishlists, my store links, gifs, etc. Stuff that can actually remind people that I've got plenty of stuff for them to buy!

So what I'll do is sit down every few weeks, and write up all of my promotional tweets, and I use Tweetdeck to queue them up for posting (though I don't really recommend using it for GIFS because it still goes by the old Twitter gif size limit - pictures seem to be alright though!). This way, the more repetitive (for me) promotional posts just post themselves automatically, and I don't have to worry about remembering them anymore. That takes off the pressure of being business minded, and I can spend the rest of my week posting favorite video links and fun, more personal tweets and interacting with my fellow models. It's also handy if I have to go out of town or something - I can make sure I don't have tons of radio silence, and can still promote myself while going out into the real world and having adventures.

There are a few different programs like Tweetdeck - Hootsuite is another similar website I've heard mentioned, but I've never tried that!
Wow great to know! I will try the apps!

I’m a forgetful moron so the autotweets from mfc are super helpful to let people know I’m on. But I tend to delete them after the session since I don’t really need a record of that on my feed. Is that biting me in the butt? Is the fact that autotweets happen at all a potential problem for my account? Does deleting them later have any benefit aside from my own desire to tidy up my feed? Twitter is confusing and complicated @_@

I’m not crazy active but I do tend to post a fair bit of random life junk and basically treat it like a normal twitter. I’m just getting started and only sitting at 56 followers. Some weird promotor crap included. I’d rather gather a small group that is legit into what I do than all the fake scammy weirdos. I’ll keep at it slow and steady I suppose.

Those of you who use tweetdeck or another tweet scheduling service, how often do you have tweets scheduled? I want to avoid spamming my twitter with advertisements/links however I want to stay active enough to be noticed/gain interested followers as well. Would 1 scheduled tweet with a site link be ok to post every hour? I have approximately 12 different links i'd like to advertise daily, and that would be two tweets per link, if I posted one auto tweet every hour each day (24hrs). I would get some sort of exposure during the day and night per link which seems like a good idea to me, but may be spammy to some people, any input?

I do shout outs for when my members make cam sessions fantastic, which is something I copied from workers who were calling out fun sessions they had with clients. I find it makes the members who tipped and joined in the fun for that day feel valued and appreciated, and it's advertising for your next cam show. For example: "Thanks for today (x member) - I had so much fun when we (did x-y-z)." You can even add a screen cap of something silly from the show.
