Hi there!

I’m a videographer and editor looking to get into adult content and tentatively looking for a bit of advice.

My background is in fashion and music videos and I thought I might have something to offer creators looking to up the quality of their content.

My thinking was I could offer a day of content creation video / stills that could generate a months worth of high quality work.

I’d love to understand if this is something creators would be interested in and if so how is the best way to approach them / show what I can do. I have friends that could help me produce content to show what sort of work can make - but beyond just messaging creators I'm not sure how to pitch the idea.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Are you a straight male looking to shoot female models? And are you US based? Asking because my answers will depend on these things

Thanks for your reply! I’m a straight male and based in the UK. It was actually my wife (believe it or not) who suggested I look into it. My background is fashion and music videos - we thought perhaps I’d be able to offer a more stylised form of content for creators looking for that sort of thing. I guess folk who are early on their journey or looking to differentiate their stuff.

I'm in a similar boat to OP; a fashion videographer looking to get into glamour/OnlyFans style content, creating higher quality video with female creators. Any idea where to post to offer my services?

Thanks!

Oh I never came back to this, sorry!

I think you’ll need portfolio content first - specifically adult portfolio.

You’ll also need a sound understanding of legal forms required for adult content production- there are many more hoops than for standard stuff.

As far as where to post… I’d start with in person networking at adult events like AVN, exxxotica etc. I would consider hiring a model to go with you, as a networking assist.

There is certainly a place for higher quality stuff - look at HENTAID as an example.. however rule of thumb for individual creators is that quality does not always translate into profit. In fact, sometimes it decreases the approachability of our brand which decreases the parasocial aspect which is where the big money is imo.

So for me personally … a content day of high quality content is something I’m interested in for the non economic benefit: networking, learning camera tricks, posing etc, BUT the actual content is of less concern.

One area I think high quality production IS profitable is within fetish clips that have fantasy production elements that are tricky to do: Giantess. Vore. Etc

Anyway just my thoughts. Straight males offering services to the adult industry are a dime a dozen so your stuff will need to stand out, and your approach and boundaries will have to be impeccable.

If I were in your shoes I would get a ticket to FetCon, and I would hire a fetish model to help with networking, and I would show up ready to shoot… and the pitch would be aimed at fetish models looking to produce within a niche that requires a higher production quality than they have capacity to make on their own.

Being based in the UK you can probably find models to build a portfolio with, either by hiring or through collaboration using a site like Adultfolio. I don't know what the market is like for video, but in my experience there is a lot of demand for photo from escorts and they tend to update their photos regularly.

Wow, thank you so so much for your very insightful reply!

You've got a solid point re straight males being a dime a dozen, so I would have to differentiate myself, and enlisting the help of a model could be a good way to learn the space much faster!

I'll still need to zero in on a fetish to focus on. But thank you so much! Lots to think about!

Awesome, thanks for letting me know about Adultfolio! I definitely need to actually build a portfolio, might have to pay a model or two first to build it up and have something to show.

Thanks again!
