Oh I also worked at Coldstone Creamery, which was only tons of fun because I worked with a bunch of my high school friends and whenever I got a tip, we had to sing. Which most people hated, but my best friend and I were in choir for a millions years and would harmonize, make up new ice cream related songs to radio music and make up dances. It all got us more tips too!

Free ice cream at the end of the night didn't hurt either.

My brother's first job was working at Coldstone. I got soooooo pudgy that year. :lol: Even though he got me free ice cream I'd always tip him and his coworkers what the ice cream and a tip would have cost anyways.

I loved my first hairstylist position! It was at a very busy salon, in a great area, and I seriously loved my coworkers and the people that sat in my chair. It is amazing the relationships you get to form with people in that field of work! I had soooo much fun! The only reason I left was because I signed my life away to the U.S. government to join the army. . otherwise I bet I would still be working there today.

Mine was working a video store, in High School. I got to watch any movie that I wanted, for free. And I got to watch movies at work all day. I was one of those classic movie nerd kids, that would recommend what I thought was a good movie to customers. And then turn around and insult them behind their back, when they didn't rent the movies I'd suggested. And I'd constantly debate with customers, friends, and co-workers over various movies issues. Just think of Jack Black and John Kusack in "High Fidelity" and that pretty much explains it.

The best was working the night shift and closing the place down. I'd get to keep whatever popcorn we had leftover (we offered free popcorn to customers) and lock the place up. But I'd still sit and watch movies until hours after the place closed. My "side business" was renting out porn movies to my friends. I'd created a couple of "ghost customers" that were of legal age. My friends would come in and rent under that "customer's" name, and I'd autmatically charge a $5 "handling fee" on top of what the store got for the rental. The store got it's money, and I got mine. Hey! They got to watch porn, dammit!!! And the extra $20-30 I made each week was a king's reansom to a horny, hormone infested kid, like me!

Subsequently, that's how I ended up being fired from the place. Thankfully, I was 17 when I got fired, and still a minor. I was nearly arrested for contributing to the delequency of a minor and my age was the only thing that saved me. Overall, I got watch a lot of movies and get paid for it. And it made me somewhat popular with the "cool kids" in my school. FYI...my biggest porn customers??? Were teenage girls at my school! :-D

My first job was working at a Chuck-E-Cheese type place. I love kids. I did everything, but my favorite was birthday parties. I would set up the party room in whatever theme they wanted, make it look pretty, and watch the kids faces when they came in and saw it. If it was a themed party, I sometimes got to dress up as the character. I was The Little Mermaid for this little girl once, and her eyes got so big and she was telling me about how I'm her favorite princess and that this is her best birthday ever. I melted. I was also Elizabeth Swan and the Easter bunny a few times. :lol: We also had to clean the giant play structure, and I always volunteered because then I got to slack off and play with the kids and go down the slides!

Right now one of my jobs is working at a horse rehabilitation/retirement/rescue farm. I LOVE it. I love horses so much and it's so rewarding to nurse them back to health and adopt them out to loving families.

graveyard shift cab driver. 6pm-6am

I loved graveyard shift, I was never a early bird. I'd much rather stay up til 6am instead of wake up at 6am.
because I live in a small town, during the slow times, I'd go home and watch a movie (no computer/no internet then) I'd just bring the handheld radio to listen for the calls if there were any.
I worked on commission, and received tips. not only were paydays good, I always had money in my pocket from tips and some extra from not so legal endeavours
no uniforms, limited supervision

all in all, it was a great 2 years

I tried working as an ice cream truck driver, once. I idled down the street in a van, occasionally ate ice cream, and got little kids in trailer parks to hustle for me in exchange for free popsicles. You know those're the kids who will really make it someday, lol, they're willing to gather half the neighborhood for a popsicle and you just gotta admire that kind of work ethic.

But yeah, worked for 2 hours a day, made $200 in that time, the job was to make kids SUPER happy, the parents loved me 'cause I wasn't some creepy old dude, and I made twice as much as the #2 sales in the company.

And then I went out ONCE during a tornado and I was like, fuck that.

Right out of high school, one of my fun part-time jobs was selling guns at a sporting goods store. I left that after I got promoted at my other part-time job to manager of a convenience store. Except getting robbed at gunpoint twice (they stole my car on the 1st robbery), it was a lot of fun! Joking with the regular customers, rousting shoplifters, etc., was all part of a regular days work. Like Bob, I have a ton of stories there, including when my friends and I recovered my stolen car 6 weeks later

After a few years, I ended up as a DSM over 15 stores. Boy, there were a lot of perks in that job. Besides a company car and gas, all the vendors kissed my ass to get me to buy their stuff. One year I got to attend 43 NBA games, and most of the time the vendors would sent a car to pick me up. Another time, a beer salesman found out I was having a party, and he had a beer truck deliver (free) beer to my house. My neighbors talked about that for some time :lol: But at the end of the day, I found that the further I was from the customers, the less fun I had. Still, a good experience.

I left that job, cashed in a couple of CDs and bought a video game arcade. Running the place was interesting and fun. Getting to expert level in "Pop-A-Shot" and air hockey was a bonus I also did my own repair and maintenance, and ran a PC repair business in the back room. After about 2 years, the shopping center was sold, and I lost my lease. But doing all those repairs gave me the confidence to go from a PC repair "hobbyist" to an actual full time occupation. And that eventually led me to my current job

I have had so many jobs, it seems every post I read here reminds me of one of them. I've been fired a couple of times, but more I just got tired of and found something different. Tried to fire myself from two different jobs b/c I felt my performance was sub par, and was talked out of it.

Worked my first real job at a pizza place. We made our own doe and it had to sit for a day or two after mixing it in 33gal plastic garbage cans in the walk in. It would form big pockets of yeast gas and push the lid off if you didn't pop it now and then. Well we would tell any new guys/girls that they could get a "doe rush", in they were good and worked extra hard. We would pop the doe and have them stick their face down inthe can and inhale deeply. They always went for it pretty easy? It was the worst smelling thing,,, well I thought it was at the time. Since then I worked at a fish market, and had to deal with a 4cu. Foot container left half full of fishguts for about a week in the summer Sun, but that's another post.

My favorite job was in a trendy night club in NYC. I was a waitress and on NYE, I was serving a party that insisted on buying me drinks and tipped me over $1000. Epic, epic, epic night!
