No, I don’t support the Libertarian approach. We have too many temptations in life, and sometimes we need protections from bad decision making.
Newsflash, life does not come with warnings and disclaimers. We learn from our mistakes, and if we don't take responsibility for our decisions, it's not up to someone else to take that on.

Obviously I touched a nerve among the cam models by raising questions about the industry they work in. From a practical standpoint, more consumer protections are needed on these sites. Users should be reminded that tokens are spent currency. Tipping 100 tokens is $20. With models lavishing attention on lonely users, people can easily lose track of how much money they’re spending on sites.

You’re obviously projecting with everything you’ve posted about people being addicted to cam models and needing the government to step in to regulate how people spend their money.

Biggest tip I dropped was over 40,000 tokens on my favorite model a few years ago. It was broken up into increments of 100, 200, 500 and 1,000 tokens throughout the evening. Of course she loved it. For that month I tipped her over 200,000 tokens.

Seems like you believe you had a problem, that you are lonely and believe that caused you to be “taken advantage of” and now you’re bitter because you spent more than you could easily afford, perhaps got into debt, and now want change that you think would have benefitted you. Thing is, a lot of members know the name of the game when they’re tipping and interacting on camsites. They know it’s entertainment and only that.

“Reminding” members that tokens are spent currency is idiotic. They bought the tokens. They know that. And a lot of these members are not putting themselves in debt or spending more than they can afford. Even if it seems like a lot of money to some people, because what may seem like a lot to some could be just a drop in the bucket for others. And even if they are spending outside their means, that’s their responsibility. I have a very libertarian view when it comes to most things, and I don’t think that the government should be telling people how they can and cannot spend their money or their leisure time. If you feel like you need a governing body to regulate your behavior, maybe you should instead talk to a therapist or mental health professional about ways you can better control yourself and your emotions and above all, take responsibility for your own actions.

I won't personally comment on everything this guy has said, but I won't agree with the majority of it because I feel it's definitely wrong, HOWEVER there is a "part" that is somewhat fair to agree on, and I can say that from my own personal experience, and that is the "addiction", except it's not addiction at all.

I won't go into full details but..
I definitely had (have, I guess) a gambling addiction to online slots/casinos and with that, I would spend everything I could get my hands on and get myself into problems. As one can imagine, this is an addiction.

When I started tipping models on camsites, I would just say that I "got carried away" and "splurged" TOO MUCH too fast. I spent what was a HUGE amount of money for me in the space of about 10 days (about £7k - all the money I had). I definitely won't say it was an addiction because it really wasn't like I say I simply got carried away, but the one thing I do agree with is the fact it does become EASY to get carried away because it's not "money" you're seeing and spending, it's obviously the websites own currency (tokens). So I do agree on this, but I don't agree it needs extra protection or security to help stop it.

Once I realised I had spent all my money, I didn't then try to get more money from anywhere so I could keep tipping any models, I just stopped, and without a feeling of the "need" to do it more (unlike I would when I was gambling).

Of course, this doesn't mean SOME guys are not addicted, but if anything it's most likely the guys who are watching model/s 24/7 and not just having a great time with their money.
Nor does it mean anything else is shady.

So, these guys you think are addicted, most likely are not. Some of them could be similar to me and my circumstances, some like yours.
Some may be very rich and can afford it all easily. Some may be busy for a lot of the year and come and splurge on days/weeks they have some vacation time or something else similar.

Some of us can't comprehend that other people have so much money they can just splurge away without a second thought, but just because we can't and can't do it ourselves, doesn't mean there aren't many many people who can do it. We are in different worlds to one another, that's all.

If you're worried about all of this because YOU spent so much money on model/s then admit that - just to yourself - and seek some help, it's not a bad thing to admit. But just because you may feel addicted, doesn't mean everyone else is

Edit: This was meant for the "Are people that rich" topic, I accidentally put here, oh well haha
