Hey all, I've tried searching through the vast amount of info available here and couldn't find the answer I needed...

Everything was so stupid, I think I've made a mistake..

A couple days ago, a girlfriend of mine suggested taking on this site so I perhaps make some money to pay for school since I had lost a scholarship and past semester was really tough. Since I have no family or needed to hide my identity, I thought maybe camming could be an option. I agreed but did not think it through.. We set up an account and went as far as to give my social security number as well as address etc..

Now I am authorized by MFC and should be setting up my profile.. within a couple hours, (concidence??) I got an email stating my scholarship was reinstated and yesterday I got a call back from an employer to start a new job. So I might not have to do this after all.. Now the thing is I haven't put anything online or haven't even been on a show but MFC has my real-life details (esp. SS#).. and if I were to decide on going to professional school, will MFC still show as an employer if I had never been paid by them?

Thanks a lot in advance,
Tess

PS: Reading through the forums, you girls are so amazing and supportive of each other. If only I knew people like you all in real life :)

I don't think you have anything to worry about. You haven't gotten a paycheck from them. So there's no financial trail whatsoever at this point. They will never show up anywhere. If you don't get money from a company you were never employed by them.

It's the same as if you had applied at McDonald's, they accepted you and then you got a better job a week before you were supposed to start. Since you never actually did any work and McD's will never be paying you, you were never an employee.

Edit: There's also no reason to 'cancel' the account. If things go bad again with financial aid, well you could still have this account ready. I don't think I've ever heard of mfc cancelling inactive accounts. Just a thought.

Nope, it shouldn't show up. Technically, MFC wouldn't have even been your employer, as we're considered independent contractors. Even if you had cammed, it would only show up on your tax forms when you filed your 1099-Misc. Since you haven't made money there yet, I don't think they'll even send you a form. Since you didn't put any pictures up or streamed, I would say you're most likely just fine. :)

Good luck with school!

PHEW.. thank you ladies, your replies really put me at ease...

And I will take the advice of keeping MFC acct active just incase Financial Aid falls through.. God knows I get an C somewhere and there goes scholarship again.

Meanwhile, I am having trouble finding any models that have successfully graduated professional school and be licensed by a state after being a cam model. It is the only hesitation really that I have.. Financially, things have been awfully tough given that now I'm back at school. If an option of taking a cam career is possible to help pay for the intensive hoops I have to jump through to get to the prof. school of my choice, I would like to take it. Applications, Interviews, Prof. Prep are so expensive.. If I can't find something that pays for them, I might just never get there anyways. But after reading through so many threads, it seems like it might be hard to apply to such schools since it is the internet, and your face is here to stay forever. Though I am personally comfortable with that, but I am worried about the ancient stigma that surrounds cam modeling type work and that might impede my professional career later on.

Do you all know anyone that is medical/dental/law school and might be able to give some advice on how to make camming work without having too much issues with admins at prof school? Do they list cam work on their applications and have to mention what MFC is? Or do you all know anyone that has already gone through with prof. school and are in their career of their choice successfully?
(This is all of course for the future, if things get financially limiting again.)

Most models that move into new careers ... Graduate etc are not posting details of it online.. They are keeping those tattoo works separate. Any career that had "ethics" oaths and clauses ... Politics.. Legal system etc... Could potentially be affected but unless you are outed or put through an incredibly thorough vetting process that would include your financial details being looked at I cannot see this being an issue.

That said... Outing happens. Often. So do be careful

You could try non nude Camming.
You could also look into more anonymous types of sexwork.. Escorting phonesex and dancing in clubs could be options

Ugh I'm on my phone and screwed this up. Sposed to be an edit but it made a new post
