My username is ollythegreat. So, since the last time I lost some of my new hours, I started taking screenshots before/after stream to make sure it didn't happen again (i am a very forgetful person, so I'm lucky i even noticed the first time). Lo and behold, it has happened again! Here are the screenshots of before and after. I lost 22ish hours.

I hope I'm not being annoying! I don't even think I'll be able to use all of the hours in the time I have left! Just wanna make sure someone knows it's happening so it can get solved permanently. It would totally suck if this was sapping the hours from new models without them noticing!

Chaturbate new tag lasts 7 days after you register. Doesn't matter if you go live or no. Idk what changed but lots of new accs complaining
That is no longer true. Chaturbate now gives new models 80 hours over the first 30 days (I think it is). As you can see in ollythegreat's screenshots she still has (at least) 42 hours of the new tag over the next 14.5 days.

Have you emailed support@chaturbate.com and included the screenshots? It definitely looks like something is buggy as both screenshots show you have 14 days and 10 hours remaining and somehow managed to use 22 hours between the two.

I often think delays from support are, in part, because of the way the initial emails are written. Ask very specific questions without adding a lot of details.

And this isn't to anyone in particular, just a stream of consciousness kind of post. Also, emailing them multiple times will set you back. And last but certainly most important, be sure to read all of the automatic reply you receive because there is usually a prompt asking you whether the provided links answer your question, if not click no to escalate.

gotcha! i try my best to add all relevant details when i’ve had a problem, but i know not everyone can or will do that! thanks for the explanation :)

I clicked no to escalate it, so hopefully it should be fixed soon! thanks again for the response <3

@ollythegreat I've heard reports of this happening to other models, too, so it's not isolated. I hope CB fixes it soon and compensates affected models for the lost opportunities.

You're welcome. I'm sure they'll sort it and you'll get the hours back.

Just a thought, but if you use a VPN and change location, maybe time zone differences for the apparent location could account for at least some of the 'lost' time?
Does not explain the point about remaining time in both screenshots being the same, but could be something like remaining time is based on location at account activation, and time used is calculated on apparent broadcast location?

The internal clocks for everything on CB run on California time.

For instance, payout cut offs. For me? It's 2:58 AM. For someone in California it's 11:58 PM. Because the cut off is 12 AM Pacific time.

It's the only way to keep logistics consistent.

I've woken up many times at 2:30ish in the morning to cash out because I forgot and also missed it by minutes after 3 AM. I emailed them. I'll screen shot the reply. But it doesn't make sense that they would end their payout one hour before their actual time zone.

Edit: Got the auto-reply, escalated it.

i don’t use a vpn at all! never have, not that techy unfortunately. so it’s def a glitch. but that would’ve been a great explanation if i was!

Makes sense that CB would base timeframes on their system settings.
I just wondered because all my account activity, token stats (time sent) etc appear in my geographic time zone, but they probably display it like that for each user's convenience.

So they lessened it huh? 7×24 = 168 and now only 80? Yikes. So it counts per streaming time I guess. Not sure if it helps or hinders

I think the intent was to help so that models didn't feel overwhelmed out of the gate and/or had an opportunity to learn how things work before making a push to grow a following. Unfortunately, though, the new times mean that there are 3-4 times as many models with the NEW tag and so the average level of success is lower than it was previously.

It definitely helps. Idk who has the stamina to stay online for 168 hours straight, as that's the only way you could use all that time. Even working 12 hour shifts for 7 straight days is near impossible. I can barely clear 3 hour shifts most days. 🤣
This is DEFINITELY beneficial unless you are running a "house account" where multiple people take shifts.
I only ended up using about 20 hours of my new tag. I wish they did it like this when I was new.

I wonder if I can get the new tag, when I created my current account I was offline for an entire month because I had just moved into a new place. I would also hate to clog up their system just to get a no.

I just finished sending an email to them right before I read your message. 😅 Can't hurt to try.

They usually reply to me pretty quickly. I'll let you know what they say.

(Edited to add: Before they changed to this new tag, people regularly wrote to support and asked for the new tag back. If you didn't use it or only used a few days, they would give it to you again. Worth a try emailing them if this is your situation)

Ha sent. I mean why not. Miss every shot you don't take, right?

IT HAPPENED AGAIN! Enough said, I think. This is insane! @punker barbie I replied to my previous email to support with the screenshots, since the aforementioned instance of losing my hours has not been resolved.

Also, thanks for engaging with the post everyone! Love learning more about the site. Hope you're all doing well!

Are you refreshing to make sure the time continues to display wrong after refresh?
She included screenshots to show that "40 hrs 46 mins left" was there at the end of one stream and then at the beginning of the next stream a day and a half later. But you think she hasn't tried refreshing the page to "fix" it?

Right like a situation where the model leaves the page open and the timer is Javascript only checking server duration on initial page load then attempts to keep a live counter client side, know what I mean?

I don't know anything about that timer I havent played with it.

I think I might have the answer...Are you using OBS? And if you are did you click the 'End stream' button in OBS?

The first set of screenshots show that you lost 22 hours and 2 minutes, the interval between the 2 stream was about 22 hours.

The second set of screenshots show that you lost 40 hours and 9 minutes (minus the duration of the stream), according to @cbhours your stream on Saturday ended at 8.54 AM UTC (14h6m left of Saturday), your next stream ended at 1.06 AM UTC Monday. 14h6m + 24h + 1h6m = 40 hours and 12 minutes

Basically your stream is still running if you do not end it in OBS, as well as on CB, and I think this is the explanation.

I've left my stream on like this before, and CBhours logged the hours as being online. Her missing hours are not logged.

The math seems right, but I think CB is counting her offline hours.

I wish more streaming sites that offered RTMP would try to make this more obvious to its models. I think there are a lot of bans that happen because it isn't common sense to the average cam model, so they don't realize they are still being "filmed" essentially and broadcasted to at least the site server, if not the entire public cam room until they physically hit that OBS button to stop it.

I don't think this is the issue. I talked to a studio admin and asked how they train models to end streams and it's only from OBS. They've had problems losing time for promos for a couple of models but most have been without issues.

@ollythegreat The good news in talking to this admin is that the first model they submitted a ticket about losing time was given the time back, so hopefully your case will be resolved the same way.
