lol, I found this thread after reading around the site a lot, and finally posting my question. First off, to the original poster, thank you so much for this post. It's really helped answer a ton of questions I had.
2nd, you ppl rock. I love the responses, the warm attitudes, the wise opinions, and the smart ass crap. I love how you all handled the "freebie" cam girl who didn't want to give her id. You were helpful, then patient... but when a woman starts off with "ok, first off..." you know she's got facts and figures and will outline in detail what an ass you are. I got out the popcorn for that one

I've been camming now for about 3 months. I fit a different niche, being older. (I did this crap when it was CU SeeMe from cornell, on dial up)
Men will be men, so there's always going to be irritants. Brush them off, and feel free to use silence or ban. I love that about CB.
My favorite apps so far are rotating notifier and room rules. For the record, men don't read, lol. Rules when they enter, rules in the bio, and the first thing they say is "pm me bb"... sigh... I love the dice roll game, because I can make every roll a winner, and it lets me do cool fun stuff. if a fan or a mod comes in, they get a "free roll"... If I know a guy isn't fond of what they rolled, I'll re-roll for them, or offer them their choice off the list. Everyone's happy when they get what they wanna see. I can also do a free roll if the room gets too quiet.
How do you generally structure your shows?
I have 2 kinds of shows... during the day, I work a 9-5 desk job, so I just turn the cam on and work. If they wanna see something, they can tip. I chat when I'm not busy with a task. Night times and weekends, we do a lot. I like starting with a set of small goals to get my clothes off... I may play with myself or use a toy to get the room going. I cam with hubby so I may get his bj started to attract a few guys and then move to a ticket show of some fun time in our playroom. If we're not feeling energetic then dice rolls are fun. I like to play trivia too, to get them talking... 10 questions, the guy who gets the most right gets to pick the dildo for a short show.
Do you perform in public? If not, how far do you go in public?
I'm not against doing stuff in the public room. I'm not taking private shows yet, because A) it just feels weird to leave a room I've spent so much effort filling and B) it feels awkward, and C) I read that private shows don't make as much money overall as the room. (please feel free to help me out with this private show thing... I'm really not sure how to handle that)
We move to ticket shows for the good stuff, because we don't think everything should be free. If there's some stuff they can only see in a group show, they're more motivated to join my cheap ticket shows.
Models: What are your rules, regarding PM privileges, Mod privileges, etc?
I am so relieved to see that I am not the only one who thinks PMs are a waste of time most of the time. If you ask for personal service, you should be willing to tip for it. If you can't even respect me enough to read my rules, which clearly state to tip for a pm, then I really don't want to just talk to you for free. Most of the time it's just to tell me their name and size, or ask if I like younger men. (thanks for pointing out I'm old... yeah, sure I wanna skrew ya. ) Or, "I live there too, can I come bang you?"... um yeah, cuz all of us just jump in to bed with all our viewers, right?
For mods, I had 3 or 4 at the beginning... Guys who came in and I liked their personality. Now I'm kinda down to 1, and he's on vacation. Ok guys.. my mod spoils me rotten. He's in almost every time I am when he's not working. He takes screen caps, with my permission, and sends them to me so I have more content to post. He's helped me make the icons for chat to remind ppl to follow, tip, join the fan club, etc. He gives me show ideas. He is active in chat, but not naggy about tips - he's a fan who loves my shows, and shows it. He brings my mood back up when some jerk created drama. That's a high standard for any new mod to reach for, but that's what I'll be basing it on from now on. I would never give mod privs to some guy who just asked, but I do sell mod privs for a day (very high) - if they're a jerk, I won't hesitate to ban them for it.
I can do most of the babysitting stuff on my own, I'm quick with my mouse unless my hands are busy. I keep the greys turned off. They just kept blowing up my mood. Sometimes the light blues do too, but I haven't resorted to turning them off yet. Hubby is always right beside me and his account is a mod in my room, so he's always helping. I would rather that those who support cb by buying tokens get the most of my attention - not because they tipped me, but because it supports the fun all of us have making a living here.
If CB is the main site you cam on, why do you prefer it over other sites?
I cam only on cb because they allow models my age, they allow couples, and there's no cam score. They allow the public porn stuff. They're rumored to have the most traffic. I've built up my follower count pretty steady, and I'm happy with my progress. They have always paid in a timely manner. I don't like the rules all the time, and the support is... uneven. I've gotten verified easily and quickly, but there's been some confusion for others I've added. I think they have my name pinned to the wall as a warning because I'm always clarifying the rules on different things (I'm a hair splitter, lol) but I really don't want to break the rules, and half what I want to do just isn't allowed. Still workin on that tho...
