I would say use the dungeon finder a lot. This will help with your tanking skills, and its sometimes not as tedious as questing. Also when you hit 51 do av a lot. Just run some quests or farm while sitting in the que. As soon as you hit 58 go to outlands and get the starter quest items, they are much better than the mix of blues you will likely have from vanilla wow. That should get you started. Good luck
