The wording of the announcement is really odd too, why would they have to close the lounge immediately for legal reasons?
Unfortunately, effective October 31 2011, we are closing the Asian Homepage portion of MyFreeCams.com, which is where models from the Philippines broadcasted their webcams. The Asian Lounge had to be closed effective immediately.
This immediate change was required for legal reasons and there was nothing we could do to avoid it. We are truly sorry. We cannot provide any more details.

There did indeed seemed to be some undue haste in the process, with barely 4 days notice given. None of the girls I have spoken to were even contacted directly by MFC... would it have hurt to have sent a mailshot through the system to the girls? Many were just given notice by studio bosses or told by their regular patrons in their rooms which for the girls was a shitty way to find out.

Personally, I don't know of any so called legal reasons to support the changes at all... pulling the plug so fast on the Asian Lounge was perplexing... or strangely why they say they can't give any details. Maybe they will be more forthcoming once the process is completed... but somehow I wouldn't bet on it.

Hows this idea?

an entire cleanout of the Asian models account database

ready for a new approval system next year using only PASSPORTS?

If that were to be the case it would be a better arrangement... but why not be using such a setup already? After all, a universally accepted legal document like a passport would be the norm everywhere else in the world.

Dunno what passports cost in the phillipines but here in Australia it's over $200 per.

Have a bunch of different ID, and have a JP or officer of the court or somesuch sign and stamp that the person in the photos is the person standing before them etc etc.

But someone at MFC probably needs to LOOK every now and then and say "Hmm, is this person in the ID photo the same as the one on the camera?" I know Leo prefers a hands-off approach but at some point he has to be responsible for what appears on his site right?

They would also need to make the studios accountable somehow - 3 strikes policy maybe. Because fining the girl or banning an account is really no deterrent for the studio, they'll just keep submitting more.

Not to be the asshole, but you know, they had super low camscores too.

You wanted to tip other girls than them, and is it your fault they're being kicked off? Nope. Do you decide wither or not to tip a model because she's American or not..? Of course not.

Besides, the bandwidth for HD has to come from somewhere.

Won't work everyone is corrupt there

Exactly, but I think MFC are sick of wasting resources on this problem. I don't think they were properly aware of how it would be manipulated.

They are fed up with it obviously which is why they started deleting studios in the past few months.

Its about £77.50 for a new UK passport here in the UK and we also have to have that written authenticity by someone in a position of authority to verify identity.

From what I read its 950 pesos (£13.78) for a standard new Philippine passport or 1200 pesos (£17.40) for quick processed applications. There are additional costs for renewed or lost passports.

I have had a similar thought about the way MFC deals with the studio setups.. they should indeed be keeping a much closer eye on every account and regularly checking the studios to be complying with the requirements of models ID's. The problem being though that when a studio infringes ID rules and gets closed, girls get dropped through no fault of their own.. they become collateral damage. The ideal arrangement would be for MFC to directly control the studios... have in place their own bosses... who would take the can for rule breaking rather than the girls. That way any dodgy model behaviour could also be nipped in the bud. Can't see them springing for that idea in a hurry either though... yeah I know... too much cost involved.

Too many corrupt people around... hard to make anything work.

As to passports solving everything - I note the recent chinese olympic gymnast that was widely (in china) publicised as 14, but her olympic paperwork said 16.
Also - remember Traci Lords?
She had legit ID, issued by the state, when she was working underage in porn.

In general, if the ID is fake, or in error, you are still liable as a porn site. It's just that the penalty may go down.

I suspect a reason for deleting the lounge would be that there has been a ruling in court somewhere saying that MFC has to stop it, after - for example - someone was convicted for trading porn of underaged models on there.

A few hours ago I saw some phillippino chick with her kid on cam. It's bullshit, and if the asian girls are upset, they should blame their counterparts for this, because the majority of Asian camgirls do not follow rules. It's a shame they took the page down, but look what most of them do.
Her name is Flirtyass.
NOTE: not on MFC, on Chaturbate.

Absolutely .. As far as ID is concerned. its really fairly east to dummy one for just about anyone with simple photoshop skills for electronic transmittal.

I also agree that Leo/MFC needs to be more active as far as "studio monitoring" and verification process. It's not only Asians,. I know for a fact several Russian and Romanian studios that have a large hand full of house accounts they regularly assign to different girls. They can literally walk into the studio and be on cam within a few minutes instead of waiting on the verification process from MFC. That has also allowed the studio to not pay the girls after 2+ weeks on cam since she literally didnt exist other than in the screen caps and recorded privates she'd done.... MFC pays the studio and it goes straight into the bosses pocket.

I worked in passports for about 7 years here in Australia and yes, sometimes a chain of ID starts that is incorrect, but in a modern society that's pretty hard to do and requires accomplices at various stages. It's also a hefty penalty (up to 10 years prison/$250,000 fine for lying on a passport application) and each office has a fraud team that works with police and other govt agencies to find and prosecute people who attempt to falsely apply for passports.

To get a passport in Australia you need to get your full birth certificate, using whatever id BDM (births deaths and marriages) asks for, you need to submit a certified copy of it to the passport office - which means someone in a position of responsibility has sighted it and is certifying that it appears real. You must also appear in person at the passport office or at an authorised agent to conduct an interview where they'll check that you are in fact the same person who's submitted the application and photographs and that the documents match up and are original (document details will also be crosschecked with various departments later in the process). The submitted photos must have been signed and dated by someone who has known the person for a period of (if I remember correctly) no less than 3 years, who is not related to them by blood or marriage, who has a current Australian passport or is on the electoral roll, who guarantees that the person in the photograph is the person pictured.

The person signing (guarantor) will be spoken to by telephone after their number and address is confirmed via the electoral roll or their passport details, and they'll be asked how long they've known the person, and whether they signed these photographs, sometimes asked to give a verbal description of the person. They'll also be advised that making a false statement regarding a passport application is a federal crime, and the penalty (as above).

So now you've got a number of official documents, and personal certifications by a number of people who have everything to lose and probably nothing to gain by making false statements, presuming all this checks out - you can get a passport.

If the Phillipines passports cost what WickedTouch said...that's ridiculous lol. No wonder they can't make a decent, fraud-proof one. They still stick photographs on I believe and I've seen some country's passports are still black and white photos. We'd all gather round for a general "wtf" when they passed through the office.

Btw if you lose 3 Australian passports, you'll be investigated and may not be issued another, in addition to a hefty fee on top of the application. Which is non-refundable if the application is unsuccessful. It will cost $678 to apply for the 4th passport, and is at the discretion of the department as to whether it will be issued.

It's not like they need a passport good enough to fool people in an airport to get on MFC. All they need is a photo of it, and a photo of them holding it.

True. The only way to correctly verify identity has to be with original documents that can be cross referenced against national databases as we do in the West. Passport validity would have to be checked in person... trouble is most of the people who were doing the checking up to now were turning a blind eye to infringements. The whole system sucked from a security perspective and had more holes in it than a Swiss cheese.

The Philippine passports are available at a low rate (yeah I thought pretty cheap too!) if they are obtained in the Philippines (according to Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), but will set the applicant back $60 if obtained in the USA for example and they do slap a fine on if they get lost. They are only valid for 5 years though... for example UK passports are valid for 10 years.

I have also found out that not so long ago they were just handwritten as well. That's a security nightmare! They only went biometric in 2007.

Yup and they only went biometric because they were (along with a bunch of other countries with lax security) told that countries like Australia, the US and the UK would no longer allow their citizens access if it wasn't done by 2007.
Basically the passports can afford to be that cheap partly because the security is still pretty crap. The ones I've seen are like Aussie ones from the 1970s.

Meh. Most of the Asian and Filipino models where the ones severely breaking the rules anyway; man on cam, kids on cam, bestiality pissing/scat, etc. Good riddance I say.

With the exception of kids on cam (in the background) I've seen just as many, or more of the stated violations on mainpage than I have on the asian page, especially pissing and insertion in public, etc. Although I've NOT seen bestiality on either side. lol

Saw one girl with a 2119 asian score that was also on the reg homepage with a 760 score and a 4895 converted to 1933. By extrapolation, I'd guess that will put the influx to real scores somewhere around 2000 or below into the few hundreds. IMO, thats not really fair to have another few hundred models from another market push you girls farther down the page.

Nobody is being "pushed down the page". The Asian girls that are staying are ALREADY on the main page, and they will keep their existing main page cam scores and retain their same positions when the plug is pulled on all the other models.

Eh, it was just my response to the whole "QQ but I can't help living in Asia" when they (or you,) can help their low scores ;)

And yeah. I do think that if you have a camscore less than 50 for more than a month you should be kicked off the site, but that's another subject. For all we know though, this does happen; I've heard of it at least.

I was on the Asian Homepage last night as the cull started and it was a spooky thing to see the rooms disappear one by one... very apt for Halloween. Girls were being taken out in the middle of chat... very strange to see.

Maybe this was mentioned and I missed it...

Did these girls get notified that they were getting shut down or was it just 'BOOP, you're gone!'?

I think if 'they' where causing most of the problems, it makes sense to move the girls that followed the rules/earned good scores and drop the rest.

The models got, I think, 4 days notice that the page was coming down and their accounts would be terminated "at the end of the pay period." (mfc shut them down 12 hours before cutoff.) Asian Lounge was terminated immediately with no prior notice. Per mfc this was "due to legal issues that we cannot discuss."

If there were problems with the Asian models, and I don't doubt that there were, I still have to put a lot of the blame on MFC and their own lax policies. It was the Asian page that first brought me to MFC a few years ago, and I've spent a good deal of my time over there. I was told by several models that of all the asian cam sites, MFC was the easiest one to get an account, because they had the lowest requirements for identification, etc. Consequently, the number of models on the Asian page more than doubled in the last year, from about 225 to over 500 on average, and the quality of the models and studios deteriorated. I really think this whole debacle could have been prevented if MFC had more stringent policies in the first place.

And.... I'm still wondering what "legal issues" required the immediate closure of the Asian Lounge."

Here's a weird thing, I had one asian model on my friend list who had a 500ish camscore, from phillipines who still appears to be online.
Did she escape the cull or what? Is 500 enough to pass the threshold?

The Asian homepage had it's own version of camscores called asian camscore (as if trying to figure out the calculations for ONE set of camscores wasn't confusing enough) Once a model got her Asian camscore above 2000, she was also listed on the main homepage, at which point she would then have two separate scores; one for the main homepage and one for the asian homepage. The homepage from which you accessed the model's room would determine which camscore was displayed to the members. The model would remain listed on the main homepage until her Asian camscore fell below a certain level (I think around 1300). The Asian camscores seemed to be roughly 4x the regular camscores, thus a regular camscore of 500 would probably place the model on the homepage, and if she was listed on the main homepage, then she was kept after the cut.

If all that is too much information, then the short answer to your question is: yes, 500 is enough to pass.

Peace.

Ah yes, thanks for that. Its a shame really, thats it with mfc. Time to move on.

I see someone has resorted to making a forum site called theasianlounge.com

They have made 2 fake user accounts, using my name i.d and used it to post controversial matter to try to seek attention to their forum.

I DO NOT AND HAVE NEVER USED THIS FORUM

It was probably posted by the same childish idiots that got the Asianlounge shut down to begin with.

I think it's because most of them doesn't earn much that's why MFC closed the AHP. If it isn't so then why did they just left those top asian models? It is because they too earn good. Almost the same earning that some of the european or american models get.

Maybe they just don't want to waste more bandwidth for those girls who only get little tips or tokens. So i think that is only because of that.

Anyways.Whenever i visit AHP i always wonder to see those models who doesn't look good work there. I mean just look at some of those girls in AHP. Most of them doesn't look good... their skin doesn't look good. The place they work in doesn't look good. Their cam is not good. Their lighting is not good.

There are some asians who looks like they never taken a bath... Then their underwears are not so good to look at... they don't put make up. Most of them are in dark corner or their room is dark. They always eat in front of cam while their legs spread... They sleep and let their kids be seen on cam.

I just wish that those studios in philippines should at least be strict on the models that they will choose or if they can't find any models who doesn't look like maids. At least they should teach them to be clean...to always look fresh.. and not let their kids work with them. It's just so annoying. They should train them at least!!!

I think those models doesn't know that they are being kicked in MFC hence why they still keep on working till the last day. Maybe they didn't tell the models because they have no plan on giving them the money that they earn before they got kicked out of MFC.

I bet they will say like " You got kicked in MFC for doing this etc. etc. and because of that they also didn't send your salary..."

tsk!
