Hey guys, so Ive downloaded AC2 on my computer and played it once but the second time I tried playing I got this exact issue:

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/s ... ?t=1177729

I downloaded it off of Amazon. Its launched through Ubisoft, not steam but thats the only place I could find anyone having the same issue. Ive tried everything mentioned in the above steam thread but its still giving me the error. Ive reinstalled multiple times and still nothing.

Any advice?

Instead of using the path this guy said:
"I found put delete the Ubi game launcher folder and then go to Steam>Steamapps>common>assassin´s creed 2>redist>gamelauncher and do the setup and then it should work"

Try using the path your game is installed on in order to run the setup he's talking about in order to troubleshoot.

I notice one guy just said "ok" to the error message and the game worked anyway, another suggests you google 'ubisoft game launcher' and download a standalone version. Some other things to keep in mind - I regularly turn off UAC (user account control) in windows for game folders when I experience errors, it sometimes fixes them, though I'd try the other suggestions first. But yeah, in essence it's nothing to do with Assassin's Creed, it's a second program (ubi game launcher) that ubisoft requires you to run because they're nazis and like to make their customers jump through hoops heh.

oh one more thing and this might actually work: when you run the launcher, or the game, right click and select 'Run as administrator', and if you need to install/reinstall the game launcher run the install program the same way - right click the icon and select 'Run as administrator' when installing it.
