As a follow up to accepting Paypal transactions for Skype shows, you can make a lot of money for accepting Paypal for adult services (cam shows, clips, custom clips, etc) simply because it's highly sought out and many models don't accept Paypal. It's quite the gamble and one that I took myself when I first started. If you do, just be smart. Know that at any moment your Paypal account can be reported for providing adult services, which goes against the terms of service, and will get your account locked and permanently suspended. I was able to keep my Paypal account active while caming on MFC for just about 3 months. Always withdraw the funds in your Paypal account as soon as you hit the minimum to avoid getting your earnings locked. When you do get your account suspended, you won't be able to access your account for several months (something like 6 months) at which time the only thing you can use your account for is withdrawls only. The user that reported you may have also gotten a refund and thus a free ride on your part. Again, a big gamble and completely a "use at your own risk" sort of thing. Also, don't even bother risking this at all if you plan on using Paypal for yourself personally as once you're reported there's no going back.

For equipment, I second a Logitech C920 and look into purchasing a studio umbrella light, about $70 from Amazon.

Mute the guests in your room as they cannot tip you and while they may not be bothering you, other members including premiums may get frustrated with them.

Some of the best tips I can give for enticing customers to tip is to 1) Maintain eye contact with your webcam as you talk to your viewers 2) Give the most attention to the tippers, if there's no one tipping then the premiums that join your chat room. You can use their user name to get their attention, chat with them, maybe tease a bit. If they refuse to tip after some time of doing this and another premium enters your room you can swap giving attention to the new guy. Regardless, try to include all of your tippers/premiums in your chat room in whatever it is your doing/talking about. 3) As a new cam model, replying to private messages is a great way to allow your customers to get to know you and entice them to tip, just make sure if you have any activity at all going on in your chat room to give your full attention there first, PM's can wait. This includes responding to tips and chat messages in your chat room. Also, don't let a premium slip away because you're too busy replying to your PM's, check back every now and then to see who is in your room and respond with a greeting, etc.

Don't let slow shows get you down. With this type of work there will always be ups and downs and what I recommend is to document your hourly earnings to figure out your average, This can also help you decipher between what does and does not work for you, ex: shift hours/days, show types, tip menus, outfits, etc (much like a scientist experiment haha, sorry I think quite analytically..) I believe the general guideline for shift hours is something like 2-4 hours online caming, at least from what I've read. Personally, 3 hours works great! You can always stay on longer if your room is busy. Oh, and keep a consistent schedule so regulars can find you.

Hope any of that helps someone out there!

Whew, well that took a while to read through, but I'm so glad I did!! What a treasure trove of info! Thanks to everyone who contributed.

I'm new to camming, and so far my biggest issue is my verbal reticence. I'm not shy, but I live with PTSD, which sometimes means my mind is just --blank.--
I'm intelligent, yet I struggle to find something to say. It doesn't help when you're talking to nobody, or nobody is responding to you, either! But what do you ladies, (and others,) recommend for me? I need convo topics that will work day in and day out. I already read the news, and would talk about that, but I feel like it's not very "sexy."

I've got another query for you all... One semi-regular keeps pestering me to take my tip menu and topics DOWN. He doesn't want to see any mention of tips. I personally think I get more tips by having the topics and tip menu up... what are your thoughts?

He sounds like he doesn't like seeing reminders to tip because it makes him feel guilty. Ignore him. If you don't have a topic and/or tip menu up, people don't know what's available.

Yeah that's a huge red flag! Definitely don't listen and if he keeps persisting, block!

I too struggle with the same issues you have and I have found it helpful to listen to music or watch a movie or TV show while camming and comment on it or sing along/hum along to what I'm listening to. Sometimes songs and TV shows/movies will trigger random thoughts and I will just say outloud whatever pops into my head. It was really hard at first because talking to "myself" was going against all my instincts and urges but eventually you get used to it and people will join in. Also I've had "fake conversations" with what it seems to other viewers as someone in my PMs and that made people want to tip for PM also.

Ok, taking your tip menu down would be silly. I have model friends who i suggest to add to there menu , like adding blackjack, or spin the wheel, or suggest replacing something on the menu that has never been tipped on whether price is too high , or just not doing well with something that might make a member see and tip for.. You walk into a store with no prices and have to ask the sales lady how much is this pocket pussy can get annoying and embarrasing lol. With so many women on here, Guys will shop around to get the most for there tokens so not saying have a sale ll, just think its best to have a menu topic with whiteboard, Iam on here alot and have alot of member friends and we all talk about the bad and good and compare notes. and if we dont after an answer about MFC . I come here to find out . Your semi regular just tell him in a nice way , look mr.contol_freak 99,9 % have asked for the topic so thank you iam going to keep it up. if you were to take it down . then ill bet he ask for you to change your Font color !!! hope this helps you have a great day

My advice to you is if you have a few regulars or a member comes in the room and tips in any amount , BASIC conversation say hello etc, establish a welcome to my room feeling. build off that . Get members involved with things like hey what do you all think about me painting my room a different color ? or even have them suggest mfc share siggestions . I was thinking about making a few sexy videos or need some cute club ideas what would you guys like to see ? Asking questions or taking suggestions makes them feel more connected to you and the bond gets stonger. You would be surprised how the easiest statement starts a conversation and gets ppl involved

Thanks for the advice!! Much appreciated!!

There maybe a better place to ask this question but I'll ask here for now. How do y'all deal with people asking for things for free or saying dumb this like "no I dont want to pay"? It really frustrates me, but I don't want to come off as a bitch if I can make them a potential customer. Advice for this would be amazing.

You're too nice.
Ignore/don't respond if user said it once.
Block if user is pushy.

Sometimes you have to come off as a bitch. No matter how amazing you are, you won't be liked by everyone. And you really don't need it. You don't have to get along with any type of freeloaders.

And about "making them a potential customer". Chances are that you won't. Instead, you'll waste your time and your energy on them in most cases.
Especially when user openly admits that he doesn't want to pay you. He clearly doesn't appreciate your current work.
And he won't become a paying customer if you show him any goods for free or continue talking to him in hope to make him pay in the nearest future. He'll enjoy freebies (sexy stuff or personal attention) and move on to another model. OR (a worse scenario) he'll be coming back to your room again with no tokens&no intention to buy them and spend them on you.

When on cam, I say, "Sure! I will (request) for (price), just like it says in my room topic!" If they keep being a dick, I block. About 1 in 30 will actually pay up.

On Twitter, Pornhub, etc, I don't even reply with words, I just give a link to Manyvids, Clips4sale, SextPanther, whatever applies to what they're asking. Some of the ones who want to chat, do sign up for SextPanther and use their 5 free credits so they at least put a couple dollars in my pocket, but the ones who want nudes or other free content don't, so they get blocked when they whine about being directed to where they can make a purchase.

IIf someone straight up asks for a sample, they get "bitch, this ain't Costco" and a block.

Chances are if they’re trying to take advantage of you by asking for free things, they’re not type of tipper you’d want in your room anyway. AVOID! Don’t waste your energy on them. It’s not worth it. :)

I'm not always great at this either but someone suggested to me to have a word doc open on the side with a list of topics to talk about since I'm very forgetful! Just to add an extra idea for you :)

Does anyone have any tips to lighten the strain on my voice?
I tend to talk a lot on stream and talking to myself for 3+ hours makes me tired and makes my throat hurt! D:

If I could offer any advice to a new model though;
Patience!
It takes a lot of time to build a following, having unattainable goals and comparing yourself to others is only going to bum you out.
Recognize your achievements! Celebrate the wins on the journey that you're on, where you're going to be in a year is going to be soooo different than where you are at the beginning.
Working a lot at the beginning will help you find your best traffic times, once you find your peak traffic; stay consistent and build up.

Bonus tip; have an emergency fund.
If something happens and you need time off or have a very slow few weeks, have a back up to help you through.
It'll take a lot of stress off your shoulders.

Happy camming! :D
I agree! Invest the tokens you get in the beginning right back into your cam business. Need toys? Save your tokens. Need a new webcam? Save those tokens. I’m just starting my 2nd month and all the tokens and gift cards I’ve made so far have been reinvested into my business to grow it fast.

There will come a day soon I can enjoy the profits but until then I’m investing and building up my emergency fund for slow times.

I’ve been self-employed for years (outside the sex industry) and I know all too well the hair pulling stress of slow times. If I am going to do this full or semi-full time I’m going to make it work for my future, which means I want it to be an investment for my future not just a means to an end for right now.

Good luck out there cam sisters 👯‍♀️

That's a good question and depending on what you're comfortable with and great at you'll either choose a private based site or a token site.

I tried out CB and it wore me out. I'm an introvert and the constant need to move, shake, and talk was enough to give me a headache. However, if you're an extrovert or just plain love engaging quite a bit, then a token site might be right up your alley.

I'm excl with SM and enjoy it. I conserve far more energy for shows and I feel well emotionally after each shift.

Hope everyone is having a great day or night! I wanted to ask for opinions on a subject I have been torn about. I have a store on C4S and MV is it good to keep content on one store or open multiple studios for different categories? Xoxo

On C4S, if you're planning on doing both domination and nudity, the femdom customer base reacts better if you keep the two separate. "gross" fetishes are also something you may want in their own store because they can turn other customers off. But aside from those two situations, it's perfectly fine to mix different types of content in one store.

I suggest opening more than one site but include all that fit with your current persona. No need to separate into categories unless you do both kink and vanilla type stuff w/two different styles you present to your customers.

Thank you Joeliys, xo

A few questions ::

Do you HAVE to have a persona? I see it mentioned here often. For someone like me I can only fake so much because of how ill experienced in this genre of work I am, which would show if I tried to take on something like the sexy mistress or the submissive kitten who likes daddys cock, etc. Thus being myself is as best as I can do but up the flirtation x100.

With other sites and selling of content, What are the best starters? I see 4 different video selling sites. Are some better than others or is it better to just join all?

When starting camming, is it better to do short public shows with a goal or to focus on engagement and stay on all day doing requests and privates, etc?

Lastly. I keep hearing emphasis on background, is it as important as they say it is? Do you really need something "interesting" or is more "interesting = more distractions" because I hear both and my background is pretty neutral.

I lied, I thought of another question XD
Are you on multiple cam sites or just one? I want to try out others but feel that may be cheating as I try to get on 3-6 hours daily on cb D:
