I'm a music nerd so I always dig names that reference famous (or not famous) songs...

Layla
Elise
Roxanne
Billie Jean
Gloria
Peggy Sue
Darling Nikki
Penny Lane

I'm also a fan of bad puns and naff wordplay...

Foxx_E._Lady
RaMoaner_Flowers

But really, you're probably best with something that's at least semi-serious and contains something that could be someone's name (maybe avoid things like TitFlopper4U, Cuntosaurus_Sex) :twocents-02cents:

Ha ha I just added Peggy Sue to my list before reading this post. Along with Sweet Jane, Stephanie Says et al. I like your style Bob!
I'm a big music lover too, so would have to agree, and I would love to encourage other fans of the NYC man RIP, amongst others. And so the list grows, but think I'm going to go with SweetJane or SongBird now, they seem to fit.
Thanks for the input all.

Ooh this is interesting!!
I thought for ages before I settled on this name I want to use... Originally I was just gonna use the name I use on everything, but quickly realised that was a bad idea... I knew I wanted hippy in there so I had to think of what to put with it... hornyhippy almost won lol but then I thought of the doll bit because I'm advertising myself as a 'come n make me do what you want me to do' plaything kinda scenario... so! I'm a little hippy doll! :)
I don't know how well it will work for me when I actually get online but I like it! :p

We're talking a lot about changing names, but in my personal opinion (and having watched different models succeed/struggle over the years..) I would highly recommend putting a lot of thought into your name so that you don't later change it completely. Changing part of it...totally fine, and understandable if you have a limited time fetish going on. But other than that...

There are SO many girls on the internet doing this. I'm pretty active in the camming community and I know sometimes my head spins from all the different names and girls. It's easy to get lost in the shuffle. Your reputation and brand is very important. I have seen name overhauls backfire time and time again.

You want your name to be more than just a name. For example, when I say Sophia Locke, it's not just about a very sweet girl with a high pain tolerance. It's about jenga, the cam mansion, an incredibly unique style of camming. When you think of Amber Cutie, it's not just Amber, but the empire she's created. IMO that is the key to a successful name/brand. When people see "Veronica Chaos", I don't want them to just think of me, I want them to think about the world I created, I want them to wonder about the future of this world. My case is slightly different because I plan on using my name as my performer/stage name for my entire life in different creative endeavors, but the concept is still the same. My name works on several levels: It's a "real" sounding name (people know me as Veronica), it allowed people to give me a cute nickname that is also recognizable (VC) and it also describes my show/world (which is really chaotic). It allows me to experiment with my style, since "Chaos" is pretty vague, but distinct enough that it has worked with the different weird camming styles I've tried out. I think, if you want longevity in this job, it's important to give yourself a name that is flexible enough for those changes because so much of camming is adaptation.

I would highly encourage girls to choose at least a "real" sounding first name. It humanizes you and allows your fans to connect more easily. Part of our jobs is to make that connection for them as easy as possible.

I choose Lita because it's short for "Lolita" and I really love the idea of Lolita, both in the Japanese fashion sense, and even being a lolita. I also picked Rose cause it flowed pretty well. (Also just was a secondary name that I was using forever.) I added the Lil to make it cute.
I read you like horror and stuff, why not do a spin off of the name of a famous horror movie actress? :D

I like Hippy Doll, it's cute and easy to remember. Lilita Rose is inspired and feminine too. I like most model names on here tbf. It's probably because the models here have put a lot of thought into their names, because camming is a serious business to you ladies.

I have gone for Sweet_Jane because of those same reasons and like Veronica says it should be personable. I'm not signed to MFC yet, but have started a twitter for the first time so I can have one ready to give to members when I start. I have followed a few of the models on here, whose posts and shows I've enjoyed, hope you don't mind. If anyone would like to follow me it's: @Sweet_Jane85, hope that's right :D

This is a really good idea. You could have great fun with that. I have picked my name now finally
after much too much thought, but maybe this will inspire some other undecided newbies.

JamieLeeCoitus?
LinneaQuickie?
DanielleHairy? (yeah, I'm stretching, but could work for a camgirl who doesn't shave it all off)

I choked on my water.
Whomever takes JamieLeeCoitus should strive to be Top 10. Just so I can see it up there and feel tickled pink

@ArtStar80 Congrats!!! :D I'm so glad you picked a name!!

Oh that was good...

Read about name stereotypes if you've found a few that you like, it can help give you an idea of how someone might perceive you based on the name. This can actually help a bit especially if you can be clever with the way the name matches the persona you'd like to embody.

I picked Tallula because I liked the sort of lyrical lilt Lolita has, and Tallula has a similar feel to it. It's also an Irish name (I am very much so), and some think of the classic Hollywood actress by the same moniker (different spelling though). Blythe is actually the last name of Gilbert Blythe from Anne of Green Gables, and I like how the ordinary word "blithe" means cheerful, again more than fitting haha.

When I first started camming with my ex gf (on Live Jasmin, eesh) we were Storm and Sage. I don't remember who was who now, too much alcohol involved lol. When I started out on my own, I had a long brown wig, and frequently had winged eyeliner and red lips, and was likened to Angelina Jolie a bit. So I decided to do the porn thing and go with it hence: Angie Jet. But my heart was never in it and I'm not an Angie.

I've since changed it to AJ Jupiter (not on the forum yet, just twitter and SM) and I like it So. Much. Better. AJ is a cute androgynous name that is more true to who I am, and Jupiter is fun and let's people know I'm a bit of a weirdo.

I like more people sounding names, and I like it even more when they are pretty uncommon. Because it's like you are solidifying your identity as this person. I think another good route to take when choosing a name is to think of like childhood names. The ones that you heard and wished that it was your name, or ones that, if you remember you named your barbie dolls or something. Not to take on those names, but to just get your brain rolling in the direction of finding the one for you.

For me, Vox is who I am at my core. She is the sweetheart, unapologetic person I want to be in my everyday life. Soulful, loving, confident - not arrogant, and not afraid of life. I've actually gone by Vox for a year or so before even thinking about camming, so when I decided to cam and accepting everything that comes with it I didn't even consider any other name. First it started as Vox L. -Vox Elle Aye. - Voxelle A.- Vox LeAura and now Liora Vox. Which I think is perfect, even though I feel much more connected to (and rather be called) Vox. It seriously throws me off when someone calls me Liora, lol. Even though I obviously changed my name until I was completely happy, I kept the half that was most important to me.

Point being, it's okay if you only know a part of the name you want for camming. Just keep it true to who you are and what your trying to represent like Veronica said.

I like this thread, it inspired me to go dig through my old notebooks. Lo and behold I found this pad that has two more pages or me messing around with name combinations forever ago, hehe.

If I didn't end up with Kyra, these other ones may have happened... (but I was really set on Kyra. I always found the name unique and I wanted something short. I was trying to think of length as well when it came to usernames)

KiraStone/MilaStone/MilaJett

_______________

I debated a very long time from a business perspective when it came to deciding to go with Fortune as my last name. It could totally come off gold-diggerish, which wasn't my intention. If anyone knows I play League of Legends, it actually stemmed from Miss Fortune. The hot redhead babe character with awesome boobs.

I love my boobs and also love my hair red. I opted to stick with the name anyway, even if from first impression it might make me sound like a soulless token whore, haha. When it came to name decisions for me though I found to best to make a list of first names and last names I enjoyed and play around with them until something clicks that you like!

My first name on cams.com was Charise West and it was random. The name Kim that I'm using right now is after an escort I used to follow on tumblr and she was SO pretty, I wanted to look just like her! I feel like real names work the best and can help with creating your brand. Or if someone googles you to find you twitter/personal website.

Hello! I am a brand spanking (puns!) new model and have a question on the etiquette of choosing a model name. I suppose it's hard to be completely original, but I also don't want to be stepping on someones toes.
Example: I decided CharlotteWeb would be a suitable name, went to sign up and discovered it was already taken. I had been researching (/lurking) MFC for a few months and hadn't seen anyone with that name or similar. I googled it and nothing related came up.
So now I have settled on CharlotteWebb, adding another 'b', which I'm happy with.
I guess my problem is that I don't want to be riding the coattails of another CharlotteWeb that may possibly be online when I'm asleep, or that has geoblocked my location and so I never get to see her.
Is this something that we newbies should consider when selecting a name?

It seems that person doesn't even have an MFC profile, it's likely that it's just a member. I think it's an adorable name (especially with the extra b at the end) and I'd roll with it.

Definitely a member. Even offline there are noticeable differences between members and models accounts. In the Private Message boxes a model will have the Tip button in the upper right corner. It will also show us how many tokens we have at the bottom. The menu itself will have more options about going to the chat room and gives a room preview box. It also suggests other models we may like.

So even if someone doesn't have a profile active just send a private message and it's easy to confirm model status.

I'd like to add that members(/regulars) may want to call you something other than your full username. If they address you, it's far more 'personal' to direct to you as "hey Megan, Lily, Kaylee, Amber, Melody, kicka, etc. etc" then an non-name username like Theultimategirl (hey, ultimate) or HotGirl69 or Bootylicious (hey... booty)
Doesn't have to be a first name to work, just something members can shorten.

it's like making a cool club out of your inner circle/regulars, "my friends call me Fay" ;)

This is how I came up with my name. And I will agree with everyone else, a "real" girl or "real" sounding name always helps.
K_Luxxe was born after chatting with a friend for a few hours to come up with my name. I have always love love loved the name Kylie, don't know why. I don't know how we ended up with Luxxe as my "last name" but I also liked the way the handle for "K_luxxe" looked and sounded. Say stuff out loud, look at it, write it down, type it, google it. All those things really help. It's a lot about you...

It's certainly classier than K_Why.

Sorry my instinct was to call you "lux" today. :)

I literally don't recall how or why I stumbled upon NerdieBirdie as a cam name.

Sometimes I wonder whether or not it hurts me because I have a straight fake name rather than the classic double first name we see a lot of gals have. But my regs call me NB or just Birdie and its been fine for a year now, so I'm sticking with it.

The only thing I can think of is that when I was picking a name out, the stupid birds outside my window were endlessly chirping and I landed on it. I don't even like birds. lol

I kept reading real sounding names worked best but I wanted something a bit unique too so I settled on Marietta Jacobs. I like the contrast of having and average last name with a more interesting first name and it rolls off the tongue nicely. I like it when names just flow

Mine, Missy Dott has to do with that annoying email address 13 year old me created. It was originally miss dotty and it had something to do with some conversation I was having with my ex and my best friend. I thought Missy Dott sounded more adult, still a kind of name and awesome.

I mean, what I did was sort of create a persona for me when I'm camming.
She's very similar to me, just more outgoing i guess?
But if you create a character, its easier to give it a name than give yourself a name?
As for my username, I figured out what kind of content I wanted to create and went off of that.
So my username is cutesy and my model name is similarly cute, but real.
I also chose something after Shakespeare (Rosaline is from Romeo and Juliet)
You just have to figure out what really fits for you.
