Here's two funny ones. Share your own Crazy Pastors Gone Wild videos!

1) "Kid was too smart so I punched 'em!"

2) "The worst thing in the world for a filthy stinking sex demon to say is 'the holy spirit' "... I just did and if that was the worst thing in the world, I've got some good things to look forward too!

He's a rather poor testimony for the church. If they were wise at all the deacon's would get an emergency meeting together and put a vote forward to fire him.

Ouch that was cringe worthy. I almost felt sorry for him though, I've seen cam model meltdowns that resembled that in some ways.
I can just imagine everyone in the audience shrinking in their seat hoping to avoid his notice.

Here's another one! This is one preacher that I'd love to see live!
"You trust in the Devil huh? Well if God sent the Devil in the name of Jesus <something something> then well you fucked up huh? You fucked up! You know your ass is doomed!"

omg there was this super funny video of kenneth copeland speaking in tongues that made me lmao yet also made me want to puke at the same time. I was unbelievable though, but now I cant seem to find it. :crybaby:

What an amazing job! People lining up for him to smash them with his suit jacket, that looks like SO MUCH FUN!!!!
And those ninjitsu moves!

Why didn't his catchers fall down too? That whole thing made me laugh so hard I almost peed. Everybody BUT his handlers were falling down. Nope, the handlers were just standing there like, "nah, I'll keep you from crashing but you're still gonna hit the floor."

Maybe I am misinterpreting this (I mean I am pretty tipsy), but I think there is a vast difference between taking human lives and poking fun at televangelists on a forum. I also grew up Charismatic, so maybe my firsthand experiences with the, hmm, extremism make this more amusing than it should be.

Again, I could be interpreting this entirely bassackwards, and if so, I apologize, Sevrin.

Since you brought it up, no, this thread has nothing to do with muslim fundamentalists, and I'm shocked you would see that behind it. But either way I'll bite because it's a dish I'd like to serve.

If I ever met Hebdo I'd be completely uninterested his racist ideas. Nevertheless, if he posted in a thread of mine I'd be more then happy to send a thanks his way for voicing his opinion regardless of how much I disagreed with it. Infact if he had posted a video of an Ayatollah saying something ridiculous and then speaking in tongues, I'd laugh along with Hedbo himself.

You see I enjoy reading other points of views no matter how I disagree with them. Even more, I think those voices I disagree with should have no worry about sharing their opinion. I hope they no longer fear voicing them so that I know who to argue further with until I learn something out of it, or I reach the point that I give up and ignore their voice any further (viewing Charlie's cartoons, he'd probably land himself in the latter category quickly). Once we tear down all barriers between each other is when we can finally reveal the truth.

I also believe that laughing at people acting ridiculous shouldn't be ridiculed. Shine a light on all our actions so that we can all shine a light on ourselves and learn from it. The ego (which is very much emphasized in all these videos) is a humorous thing when viewed from an outside perspective.

Has the world really become so PC that we can't hilariously enjoy putting up videos showing people on the far outskirts of centralist philosophy to the point of fundamentalism?

I suppose if that makes me charlie, then sure, but I promise that I hadn't even thought of Charlie Hedbo when making the thread. Infact if you want to know why I came up with the idea of the thread, it's due to a JRE podcast which had no religious discussion in it (hebdo or otherwise) at the time. If you want further proof then I'll PM it to you.

Sometimes I wonder if while those fundamentalists have been weaponizing their ideas, we centralists have been striving too hard to nerf our own. It's beginning to scare me.

edit: I also want to add that the idea of murder being the penalty for drawing Mohammed is completely fundamentalist, infact the whole idea of "idolizing Mohammed" isn't fully black and white according the the Quran (regardless of what a muslim thinks the punishment for it should be). Yes "idols" aren't allowed, but a monothestic abrahamic religion overcoming a polytheistic religion will confuse things.
edit2: I'm really hammered and that was a rant that was completely out of place, sorry Severin

Charlie Hebdo is the name of a publication, not the name of an individual cartoonist. The attack on Charlie Hebdo resulted in the deaths of several cartoonists, as well as others. And, in the culture wars that this particular event has come to represent, it is neither an isolated incident, nor a part of the recent past that should be quickly ignored or forgotten. People are still ending up dead as a result of all this. Frankly, I'm pretty surprised that this hasn't come up around here. The recent I'm Really Offended By That! thread is a topic that was really quite prescient to what has happened, considering people are dead, and continue to die as a result of being offended.

I've been a cartoonist for two decades now. Je suis Charlie toujours.

I had no idea, which is why I'm glad people (like you Zippy!) can educate me. I obviously knew 12 people died, but I thought "the main culprit" was one artist.
I feel like this sort of dialogue is very important. :thumbleft:
Thank you!

Happy to be of service.

In trying to take on extremists, one of the few truly effective tools that people of more moderate dispositions have at their disposal is laughter. It flies in the face of moderation to wish to kill those who disagree with you, so the only thing that one can do is disarm those who don't have qualms about killing. I worry about all of the extremism found running rampant in the world and in my own country, and it doesn't just begin or end with religious fervor. I hope that deflating these types of people can help to make the world a little safer to exist in, so I don't mind participating in a little satirical ribbing, myself.

I have absolutely zero idea what that means, but I'm laughing my ass off at these guys because I grew up in a very religious household that went to a strict Southern Nazarene church. The pastor who called me a whore and shamed me in front of the whole congregation at 13 years old behaved much like these guys and actually was kicked out within a few weeks of my family leaving the church. I rather feel like I'm more than allowed to laugh at the antics of terrible preachers because of how I was treated.

That and I have an uncle who's a pastor. He'd laugh and shake his head at these dingalings, so it's funny to me.
