What's a freeloader? Does it entail non-interaction, or does it entail non-tipping? If we go by the latter definition, here's my response:

I've always maintained that as long as they're contributing something (e.g. conversation), and that they don't prohibit others from participating in the room in any way, then they're fine. If they're maintaining a good flow of conversation, then they're maintaining the perfect environment for a willing and able member to tip the model. It is understandable that some people simply don't have the means to tip, despite their best intentions.

On the contrary, if freeloaders somehow feel they have an entitlement to anything - then they're nothing more than a nuisance. I've seen it all too much, where a demanding member feels his presence alone ought to give him the entitlement to see free nudity - if not a free show from the model. These types of members are generally considered a pest, and consequently they get swiftly banned.

I personally see basics as one of the worst kinds of member, just behind the $20 premium who bought the ability to talk. These basics inflate the room-count, but the vast majority of the time, they can't/won't contribute anything (meaningful).

On a slightly different note - I feel that freeloading, whilst sometimes permissible, should never be a long-term habit.

I'm uncertain whether the term 'freeloader' refers to those who merely exist in the chat, or if it specifically refer to those who stay during a public show and leave otherwise. Some clarification would be helpful.

of course any models going to be disheartened if she has a large room and no tippers, but, calling someone a "freeloader" isn't the way to rectify the situation. the connotation of the word irks me, i wish i knew why.

I can think of many ways premiums can be worse than basics.

The ones who think that just because they've tipped you once or twice in the past, from now on they can just barge in your room demanding to see tits/pussy/ass (without tipping) and never tip you again. *sigh* Even though you can see that they have a shitload of tokens. Then when you say something to them about it, they're like "Damn, ma...I thought me and you was cool." :roll:

I had a guy who had taken me for a few very short privates about a year or more ago who started to do this to me via PM. I told him his shit was getting old and i was fed up of him coming into my room, tying me up in PMs (taking my attention for swathes of time from the main room) begging me to watch his cam for free and 'play with ur asshole so i can cum. Please cat. Please. I must have spent a TON on you, I'm one of your best visitors' (yeah right buddy, 3 x 1.5 minute privates really broke the bank over a year ago). I took him off the friends list that night, gave him a 6 hour ban and put him on perma-ignore. Now i see him lurking in the corner of the room sometimes when I'm on but he's dead to me. The guy can't open his mouth without expecting something which i find mega-annoying so I'd rather not hear what he has to say.

Thank you I'm releaved to here that out of a models mouth. "Freeloaders" and MFC catering to free users is what make MFC what it is (popular). What free loaders do is advertise and drive traffic to the site and your room. If 100 freeloaders all tell there friends about you will end up with a lot more free loaders but a few more tippers.

If you "can't" tip (though I find it hard to believe that a person who works full time and buys all the latest electronics "can't" buy at least a 10-token package), then at least contribute to the model's chat with some friendly conversation.

After a little while, models start to notice when the same guys are in the room day-after-day not talking and not tipping.

It makes you look bad when you're in the same room frequently, and the only time you talk is to say "Mmmm, boobies!" or "Looks like I got here just in time!" That contributes NOTHING to the chat.

And telling me every 5 minutes "I wish I could tip you, Fox. I would give you all of my tokens." gets annoying after a while. You don't have to give me a sob story. Just be one of the cool people who can hold normal conversation without posting a bunch of animated emotes at the end of every sentence, and strive to tip me in the future when you can.

I did have one basic talking in my room. The day was going slowly so I was happy to see a semi-regular who usually tipped. A few minutes after the regular came in, the basics started complaining that nobody was tipping. I told them to shut it and was pretty close to muting the basics, when this one basic guy called PornFilmExec said something tantamount to, "Fucking premium members never tip and are the worst freeloaders". The semi-regular said "I can see I'm not wanted here" and left, as well as pretty much the rest of the premis that were in the room. I was seriously pissed and banned PornFilmExec.

A couple of weeks later PornFilmExec sent me an offline PM offering me $500 for a Skype show. I told him no, because he was a dick and drove away people who would actually tip me. He said, "so?". I just ignored him after that.

AHHHH THIS GUY!!!!! He's on perma-band and perma-ignore. I ran into him when I was new and dumb. He wanted me to be his online slave (something I'm not comfortable with) and I accidentally added him on skype at some point, where he proceeded to troll/harass me and call me a terrible person. I HATE this guy.

Given my understanding of the US job-market, it's not implausible for a member to become unemployed out of the blue thus leaving them without the ability to expend on the models they visit anymore. Of course, I do agree that the very least a member could do is contribute positively towards conversation. To reiterate from my posts in the 'Pet Peeves' thread - it does annoy me when members are seemingly incapable of contributing to conversation. If they're going to act like a guest, then they might as well be a guest.

When I made this poll, the point of it was for guys to get an idea of what they might be able to do in a model's room to not feel like a pest. This was back when this forum was getting a lot of guys asking "I don't have any money, what can I do to not feel so bad?" At the time, the forum was full of models who don't mind guys talking but not able to tip, so I figured I'd help them out a bit by making the poll.

It's interesting to see this thread rebound into a new direction. This poll was mainly about "what about those guys that can't tip?" I personally don't see someone as a freeloader unless they're begging for free stuff. A freeloader, to me, is someone who asks for something without offering something in return. Someone who participates in my chat and once in awhile asks very politely to see my boobs, I'll probably show them, because I like to flash. I don't find that freeloading, since they are providing me with something, and the service they requested is something I like to do and sometimes do randomly without prompt anyway.

But someone who comes in and says "boobs" over and over again, is a freeloader. Someone who posts "ass" all the time, is a freeloader. Yes, it's called "myfreecams", and I expect some guys to be watching with no intention of paying. But it's not "myfreerequests" it's not "myfreeboobs" or "myfreeass". It's "myfreecams". EDIT: I had to post this before i could check. My response was "As long as they aren't a hassle, they don't bother me". So when I said "freeloader", I was going with the popular definition of "anyone who doesn't contribute", whether they're asking for stuff or not.

I believe this is the best way to view the situation. If your concerned about everyone in the room not pulling your weight then can not do shows or limit them to groups and privates.

When I was working MFC (which I haven't done for awhile... maybe going back later this year), I kept penetration shows to group and private, but was by far not a non-nude in public chat.

So he ran to the "ugly" and "bitch" comments. I said "if you find me so ugly, why don't you leave?" He kept going, so I said "Oh, I see, you can't find your way out. Let me help you." *ban*

However, the whole exchange made my room go from 10 people down to 2. ugh. (this is streamate, 10 people is actually a pretty big room)

People like him confuse me badly. I just have no frame of reference in my mind that I can apply to his actions that makes them understandable to me. They are like an unsolvable puzzle, but I will find the answer one day.

And I know what you mean about Streamate. It seems like it's very difficult to keep the attention of even 10 guys in public chat, unless you're doing a gold show countdown and are topless during the countdown. I haven't cammed on that site in a long time, but sometimes out of curiosity I peek at some of the models' rooms.

Dude was haranguing me last week, begging for Paypal Skype. He began his attack with this "You look familiar. Have I seen you before?" ish to (methinks) determine whether I was, in fact, new/dumb.

A lot of guys ask me, "Are you new here?" It's never occurred to me that this might be a setup for them to try and take advantage of me. Members are sneaky fellows.

(Now that I think back on it, the majority of these come from guests/basics. Not awake enough to think as to if this has any particular significance)

In my opinion, even if a zero token premium sits in my room all the time and never talks or tips, it can be somewhat of a compliment. It is frustrating, but I try to remind myself that if they find my company enjoyable enough to hang out in my room that is a good thing. They are contributing to my room count, at the very least.

I don't mind the guys who never or rarely tip but do contribute positively to the conversation.

I don't even mind the guys who come in the room solely because they want to watch the naked dancing or whatever show it is that other people tipped for. Well, just as long as they keep their "I wanna fill that ass" or "I'm cumming" comments to themselves.

When anyone begs, demands, or directs with no intention of tipping, (especially during a show) I find that inconsiderate. They often do this with the expectation of compliance. I am tempted to call these guys freeloaders, for lack of a better term.

And I have checked for better terms. All of those words seemed far more offensive than "freeloader" to me :lol: :

I do that when I have the bank to back me up.. Theres nothing that will piss me off faster than a basic or a freeloading prem that attempts to 'spend' what I have tipped so they can get a nut for free. Its why I'm glad the 'show tip message to chat' option is now available.

I really appreciate the conversation they bring but I don't want them to think they never have to tip. $3 a month? I'd wager that most freeloaders spend more than that on a single beer.... Sad as it is, even broke, they still have something they can contribute if they have beer and ciggy budget which most all do... It's not like I asked him to tip a fucking Mercedes. 5 token tips are fine. In fact, I encourage 5 && 10 token tips walls, or tip matching, etc. I have a few people who spend $20 a month, && tip 5 tokens at a time. I have a couple regs who are unemployed... THEY AT LEAST SAY FUCKING HI, or SOMETHING every so often. Why bother having a premium account? I tell the room ALL the time, if you can't tip, that's fine, but at least CHAT. Be interactive. && if you don't fucking want to do that, then go watch from the lounge, or sign the fuck out && guest.

Totally agree... nothing hacks me off more than when I tip and it gets hijacked... like some guy has just picked my pockets. Its my tip, therefore my request and the begging boys who never pay a dime should just STFU!

Oh, I agree with you! It's not cool to treat a model's room like it's a movie...sitting there for 2 hours watching her in complete silence. If you're gonna do that, you might as well perv in guest mode.

If I'm seeing the same premiums in my room night after night, and they NEVER type back to me when I smile and greet them by name, there is something wrong with that. I'm not buying the "Well maybe they're just shy" excuse. You can be shy without being rude. Lurking a model's room for a long time and never answering her back is rude. I know of a certain premium who is shy (I feel sorry for him, because I used to be shy, and it sucked), but he's a sweet, nice guy who is a big token spender.

I'm glad to see that many models don't seem to mind a member not tipping all the time. I've been under the misconception that not tipping during ANY semi-lengthy stay in a model's room would be construed by the model as rudeness (or freeloading, if you prefer) even though none have told me this. I've also assumed (again, wrongly, based on the models' replies in this thread) that tipping was sort of my license to interact with the model. Besides, I really enjoy tipping!

The problem is that since I can't seem to stay away from my favorite models, I'm finding that my expenditures for entertainment on MFC are way out of line with my bankroll. So, I've been trying to bring things under control, but until reading this thread I didn't think I'd be able to without severely cutting back on my MFC time (or cutting it out altogether).

So I hope this thread has convinced me that I don't ALWAYS have to tip, and it's nice to know that models seem to understand that not all of us have deep pockets. Whew!
