I really don't want people finding out that I cam. I know people say that there is always a chance of getting caught but I was wondering how likely that is if I do all theses things

make sure no one walks in
clear computer history
change appearance
not use any social media
ask to not be included in advertising by the host site
geoblock
dont give a phone number
use a background that doesn't give anything away
use google alerts to check when my username is mentioned
and check xvideos, redtube, ect

If you have any other tips that would be great. I really don't want people to know but I also really need the money thanks

i hate to be that person, of all the precautions you make, you may still get outed. doing those things you listed does help your chances of not being found out. but there is still a chance. the internet is forever.

It's kind of moot though because if one person finds you out, it's more dependent on whether they say "haha that's my neighbour how funny" and move on, or they say "haha that's my neighbour I'm gonna print this out and paper the neighbourhood with it". Like precautions are always good but ultimately it's out of your hands, and something to consider whenever you're putting yourself online.

I've heard this a lot but how could that happen if my face isn't shown and I dont have any personal info out

Those precautions are all good and smart but no one can reassure you that you wont get found out.

At one point i was much more careful about hiding where i was etc. Since becoming more open, (i still hide obviously my address and real name etc) but im open about location etc. Since doing that 4 yrs ago, i find i have a lot LESS problems with people obessing over finding out who i am or where i am. I feel like some people just like to dig into those details when they feel like the door is slammed in their face.

I dunno if this helps or anything just some insight.

don't cam if you have this laundry list of things because you will probably still get outed.

If you absolutely cannot be found out then don't do it.

Like it's kind of a waste of life trying very hard to not get outed, then finally getting outed anyway. My "fear of getting outed" really isolated me from my friends so I decided to create the "if they have a problem with it they can go fuck themselves" mentality.

I personally feel like if someone's respect and relationship with me is dependent on what I do for a living then I really don't need that kind of person in my life. My work does not define me, I have so much to offer someone and I'm sure you do too.

I've heard this a lot but how could that happen if my face isn't shown and I dont have any personal info out
Also, most sites require you to show your face, at least off and on.

The best way to not get outed is to never do this. I outed myself to my friends and family I care about--and with those I didn't I have a "fuck them if they find out and care" mentality.

I've heard this a lot but how could that happen if my face isn't shown and I dont have any personal info out
Like Zana mentioned, most sites require you to show your face. They do this to verify you say who you are. There are very few that do allow it. So make sure you read the TOS for every site you sign up with..

Sometimes they don't even to need see your face. I had an ex confirm he knew it was me because of a birth mark on my ass.

Like the others said... You can follow all of the precautions in the world, but still be found out. You can hide your face, but that doesn't mean you cannot be recognized. Friends might recognize the bedroom/livingroom you are camming from. Like Audri said, there are birthmarks, tattoos, scars to be considered, voice can be recognized. I mean, I could hide my face, but I've got a pretty distinctive scar on my chest that is a pretty dead give-away, if someone close to me would stumble upon my work.

This job is so lucrative because there are so many risks involved. If being found-out would destroy your world, then I would think twice about whether this is a job you want to pursue. Would you lose your family? Would it cause you to lose a vanilla job, or opportunities in future fields? Is the money worth that kind of devastation, especially when you cannot guarantee whether you will make a ton of bank or just average pay? It's a risk. That's why it's something we have to think about carefully before entering, and decide whether the risk is right for us.

When it comes to adult work... I say, plan and prepare for the worst case scenario. Expect to be outed one day, and figure out what you will do if that happens - make all of your contingency plans, just in case. If it doesn't happen, then sweet. But that way, you'll be emotionally prepared for the fallout should the worst happen.

No matter how hard you work to cover your tracks... It's hard to keep a secret on the internet forever. Some people get discovered in days, others go years, others are never discovered. Sometimes, unlucky things happen and people just find out. It's not fair, but it happens a lot. By all means, I definitely encourage you to protect your privacy as much as possible, and your identity as much as you feel comfortable with. Just recognize that there are many things that are out of your control, and sometimes, it's just a roll of the dice.

Agree with what others have said... if your mental health is going to suffer if you are found out, then it may not be the gig for you. I'm at a point in life where the people I'm close to wouldn't judge if they found out. Hopefully, in the near future, sex work won't be so taboo. I mean it's not like we're funneling money from donations that were supposed to go towards children's cancer research or anything.

I agree with what everyone's been saying.
Please don't take the following rude, it's just my own opinion and all of its all out of care!

In my opinion, when you get into camming or any adult entertainment work that revolves around being online, it is inevitable that you will be found out eventually. You can take all the precautions, be extra careful and watch your steps meticulously but in the end nothing can stop things from getting out there online. People will record your shows, screenshot certain parts of your streams and post things about you. Your image will get leaked and its just something that has to be accepted as there is no way to keep it from happening as these people are not in your control and half the time you won't even know they are doing it until its most likely too late.

The big thing I worry about here is that you are feeling so conservative and wanting to hide it so harshly. To me, people like this shouldn't get into the industry. Simply put, it's not for you.

Camming is all about self-promotion and if your too cautious and don't put yourself out there then you won't make it. You can't worry about who finds out about it and being this way can also be somewhat dangerous. I won't go into that side of it as I am more worried about you doing a job that you will end up regretting later in life.

A possible option would be a couple of steps.
Step #1: Go to those people who's opinion you value (family, close friends, etc.) an tell them "I've been having a hard time finding a good paying a job and I've heard people make a decent living doing online modeling on camera." Answer their questions and see how they react. Don't say you're doing it already, just you've thought about it. That should give you an idea of their feelings and you can make your decision from that.
Step #2: Once you know how the people you really care about feel, then everyone else can fuck off. If those you care about accept it, then those jerks can't hurt anything by outing you.
Step #3: If you worry you'll hurt future job opportunities, don't do it because once it's out there, it's there forever.

You can deny it's you if someone finds you. Haha, just keep denying it's you. It might not be convincing, but what are they going to do, give you a truth serum? In the end, though, you're an adult, it's your life, laugh at anyone who's seriously upset about it.

I have so many doppelgangers running around, this is super plausible for me. I also mention my doppelgangers all the time.

Seriously, you need to copy and paste this on every thread and forum where people ask questions like this. These people approach sex like ashamed children and don't know themselves or what's expected. They just see the dollar signs and want it both ways which is infuriating for those of us operating realistically.

Personally everyone who knows me knows what I do. Even though I took four years off to finish the undergrad and get the master's, the adult industry has way more potential than academia which is why I returned in spite of teaching college writing for two years. I returned and told people I had done so. Then again I hang around with adults who won't make the mistake of watching me and have the audacity to give me grief...

To the OP: If you do this work you need to be comfortable with only yourself and what YOU think. Fuck everyone else...

It's getting a little annoying at this point. Our (US readers) First Lady, regardless of what you think of the current state of politics, was a nude model. Only a few hopeless souls are trying to shame her for that. Same with the previous French president's wife Carla Bruni. Through spying paparazzi even the next Queen of England has been photographed nude - in that case without consent.

People around the world like to enjoy their bodies, even share them with some. I get that the US is a puritan holdout, but these days the taboo is more about driving business than 15th century Christian morals. Time to stop the shaming, and outing people for making an honest dollar.

That's my ideal world. Real one, yeah, you'll get outed by someone's wanking father who recognized a recording of you on a tube site.

No matter what you do, someone could still find you out. It might just be a bunch of dicks you went to high school with looking over Chaturbate and finding you- you can't block every state or country that someone knew you currently lives in, after all- and then they might go "lol omg this person we went to school with is a cam guuuurrrlll" It really matters is how much it matters to you and what you get from it- not what some used-to-be-popular greasy haired fuck thinks about you or your job.

Hey I understand how you feel. All that is smart .. never use social media thats trailed everywhere. The problem with that is myfreecams, chaturbate or any other cam site records you. You can find your recordings all over the internet "but unless someone knows your model name and recognizes you its not practical to find you. If you are on myfreecams they require you to show your face so if your not comfortable with that you can cam on other sites like chaturbate you dont have to show your face on chaturbate. At least when I was on there a year or 2 ago. Iv seen several girls on there and other sites who didnt. If its not attached to your real name or anything associated with you then thats all you can do just dont do anything on cam you wouldnt want on the internet if you decide to show your face. Money comes and gos what you do on the internet stays there.

That's not MFC doing the recordings, it's bots used by users that are then uploaded to other sites. MFC can record you, yes, it's in their T&S, but the caps and vids you'll find of your shows aren't from the sites you're typically on (unless it's Streamate, that's a different kettle of fish, though). You are also obligated to show your face on Chaturbate, at least part of the time, and they can and do take action against those that don't. It's in their T&S.

Either way that wasnt the point the point is its recorded. Who cares who does it. And I worked on chaturbate and didnt show my face never had any problems it wasnt required or on naked.com or Im live. There was also a few top girls on chaturbate who never showed their face so they must have changed the rules recently. But yes there are sites you dont have to show your face but if you try myfreecams you only have to show it some of the time so you can make that work to your advantage.

It absolutely matters who is doing the recording. If you say that the site a girl works on is the one recording her, then she's not going to trust the site, and it's going to build a relationship of distrust and perceived dishonesty. They won't want to submit DMCA's through the site they work on, which is how you want to get those recordings down. Trusting the site you work on is paramount for building a good following and getting a good income--just like any relationship, it needs that solid foundation of understanding. I get what you're trying to say, but you're wrong, and you're being very defensive for being pointed out for being wrong. Just because you and some other girls get away with it, doesn't make it not against the rules. There are posts in this forum from people who were banned or flagged for not showing their face.

Look, I'm not trying to jump down your throat, but you provided information that isn't true. I was correcting that for OP and any other baby cammodels that come to this thread--because ACF is a very popular forum, so we have a duty to provide accurate information to newbies.

Most of the webcam sites have features to block your broadcast in particular US states or countries. Use that to block your broadcast any place you have relatives or friends and you at least minimize the chances that a neighbor or school classmate will see it and start the rumor mill.....

Ehhh kinda. VPNs are a common way around that. Most of my friends use one and they're not even super tech savvy (except us engineers obviously). You can use geo-blocking if it helps you feel safe but with the rise of VPNs they're not super effective anymore.

I'm as out as I'm comfortable with being at the moment. My important friends that I give a shit about finding out know--as does the family members I care about. Everyone else I'd rather them not find out, but if they do and they have a problem with it, I'll cross that bridge when we get there. The issues I'd have being completely out on a college campus is, like someone said, sexual assault or harassment. Plus, if you want to be faculty eventually with the past of having done sex work, I'd suggest making yourself the best candidate possible for any tenured job you apply for. Your grades are gonna need to be spotless. Same with your softs. Getting into a professorship is already a fight, with around only the top 10% of grad students getting gigs, so don't give boards any room to use your sex worker past against you. This is coming from someone that was offered mentorships with top leaders in my field--I gave this serious thought. If you want to be a professor, get your claws out and prepare for something that's up there with law school in terms of workload.
