How would a model communicate a password? Is she going to pm every person she wants to give it to? Seems like the model will be spending a lot of time working on pm's instead of interacting with the room. I realize it might only take a few seconds per pm but if she has a bunch.... And I think many of us know how much some guys like to talk and talk and talk in pm, will this add even more time away from the room for the model?

People are so literal at times it's funny. "password" isn't the important thing. The model determines the criteria and there are at least a dozen ways of making that fairly easy.. So for example, with my proposal the models specifies access to this show is automatically granted to anybody who tips X tokens in Y amount of time. No need to send passwords. Alternatively or addition, another approach is model sets up the room. She then left or right clicks on a member name (most of whom are conveniently grouped in her top tipper section) which brings up a menu similar to ignore or ban, but instead there is an option to allow user access to a private room. So probably 1/2 dozen clicks to set up the room and 2 clicks per user, no PMs needed. I'm sure this well within MFC technical capabilities.

I don't think password-gated rooms would become the norm. Some models would use the feature more than others, but no model can afford to be that kind of exclusive in the long run.

MFC Models gain followings by having an open room. No matter how loyal a current following, it will wither if new members don't discover a model and become regular contributors. If the model locks herself away with a couple of dozen regs all the time, new members will never find her, and they won't ever get invited to password-gated rooms, and they won't ever support her.
Exactly. I certainly hope that MFC does not adopt password shows. If they do, I will close my MFC account.

This seems like an extreme reaction to a feature a multitude of models would like to have the option of using every so often. I'm genuinely surprised, Guy, that you'd be so against models using a feature in order to benefit the members who have actually supported them. You seem like a very supportive premium member who is proud to pay for his porn, and this doesn't sound like you.

I'd love password protected shows for fan club purposes, etc. I no longer do cum shows in public (err... haven't for a long while) so it would be a great way to get the people who hang out in my room every. single. time I'm on cam and sit on tokens to pitch in and see the stuff they want to see. I really don't see many massive drawbacks to this. The models who want to use the feature and benefit from it, can. The models who don't, aren't forced to.

Im horrible at remembering passwords. I've been locked out of my email and Apple ID countless times for typing in the incorrect passwords too many times.

Passwords aren't fixed, silly, the model chooses one for each show, gives it to you in PM and all you have to do is copy the password and paste it into the box to see that particular show. No need to remember it later.

There's a fairly easy way to simulate password protected shows on mfc if you're willing to put in 5 minutes of work to set it up and spend $20 one time. You can do it by setting up a private room on an alt member account. It's kludgy, but here's how it works:

Step 1. Make a list of the members that you want to have access to your private room
Step 2. Open a new member account for yourself (costs $20 of course)
Step 3. In this new member account, add all the members from Step 1 to your Friends List
Step 4. In this new member account, go to "Security Levels" in your webcam settings and allow only people in your Friends List to view your cam
Step 5. In this new member account, create a new room for yourself (Menu > Rooms > Make Your own Room) and set it to only allow members on your Friends List to enter, and set the default cam for the room to be your webcam

Voila! You've just created a room that only your friends can enter, and where only your friends can view your webcam. So whenever you want to put on something like a "Password Protected" show, all you need to do is open up your alt account, perform steps 1, 3 and 5, close the cam in your model account, and tell everyone on your list to head over to your private room for fun times. They can even still tip you in your main room if they have that room open in another window/tab, even though you won't be visible there.

This has been discussed many times and ruled out as a viable option. Member created rooms do not broadcast in the same quality resolution as model rooms. And i'm talking about BEFORE they upgraded the models video quality recently.

Several models have tried it. Total shit quality cam when a member shows their cam in a room they create.

As a member who tips consistently —and generously as often as I can— I feel that this would be a good option for models to have.

Too often, with palpable gratitude and frustration, models thank a few tippers and then in the same breath plead with the rest of the room to contribute. You all constantly come up with good cheer and new incentives to get members to join the fun and contribute. Sometimes it looks like pulling teeth.

We all want exciting rooms, where models and members alike have fun and feel appreciated, when members spend tokens. Sometimes trolls or blatant freeloaders need to be banned to keep the room fun. Sometimes there are so many blatant freeloaders in a room that it is easier to white-list the members who are fun than to blacklist those who are not.

I think they should do public countdown shows like this "Contribute tokens , when the goal is meet the show starts." All members who have not tipped will be left in the chatroom with a message on their screens that says model is in tip count down show. The countdown goal has been met! But its not to late for you to join, contribute a tip to join the fun now.

I think group shows are sort of at odds with the whole "tip what you can when you can" mentality. They are good for models who want to reward their generous tippers, which is absolutely fair enough, but it does draw a line between them and those who would otherwise be considered contributors to the room. As I understand it, part of MFC is selling companionship, and I would think some members might prefer buying access to something like a friends-only show over a pay-per-minute group show.

From a members point of view I don't see a need for password shows, I agree with Carmita

While MFC has gotten along fine without PW shows, they "fit" with how MFC works. MFC mostly uses an asynchronous model of payment and rewards. It doesn't revolve around metered shows, although they're an option. The most successful models gain far more of their income from tips than they do for privates or groups.

Models have the opportunity to run their rooms however they like. PW shows would be just one more tool for their belts; they wouldn't prevent models from offering group or private shows. Members tip for the hell of it or in anticipation of a crowd-funded show. When the countdown goal isn't reached for a public show, and models would like to reward contributors exclusively, PW shows would be a good option.

Even with PW rooms, public entertainment would still be the standard because that's the only way members can discover them. However, it would probably make MFC the preferred site for a lot of models who have become frustrated with being freeloader fodder.

I guess even though I don't think it's needed, I can't say models shouldn't be able to make their room how they want

Every freeloader is a potential tipper

A rush of freeloaders will put you higher on the Most Popular Rooms which might get you seen by potential new tippers

Just seems counter productive to give yourself less exposure to be seen by new people because you don't like the idea of free loaders

Cutting your nose off to spite your face

By that logic, models should not have the option to go private or into group, either. As I previously stated, no model can afford to lock herself away permanently on MFC. We are talking about giving models options for rewarding paying members, or whatever members they like, as far as that goes.

I wouldn't personally use them very often - But there might be occasions where a buy in would be something i'd like to offer. That said, I would worry about how much it would change the overall structure of MFC. I would feel like if you were doing a password show you should go to the bottom of the page, like on streamate (right above the 'away' rooms).

By that logic, models should not have the option to go private or into group.

But you can pay to view group and private, well, not true private.

Couldn't we have a similar argument about models sleeping on cam?

Where do we draw the line between what a model wants and what's best for MFC as a business, it's very tough.

That would make sense. After all, for those who don't have the PW, you might as well be away, or in a TP.

If MFC finally makes password protected shows an option, I will use the shit out of them! This has literally been my biggest wish for MFC in the last 3 years. I have a notebook for cam ideas and about 5 pages of it are taken by password protected show ideas - how to use them, in which situations etc.
I REALLY hope they will make them a thing soon.

EDIT:
Personally, I would use them mostly for club shows, and end-of-the-night shows where everybody who spent over X tokens that night gets to see the show. This is such a great way to avoid public shows which I don't do, and not have big spenders missing a show bc they already spent too much.

I remember a time when some girls would block every region in the world so that only people on their friendslist could enter, this was effectively a form of pw protection

I haven't seen or heard of it for a long time though, did MFC frown on it?

I've kind of skimmed through this thread and I can't really see the harm of adding the option.
The way I'm reading it's potentially like a group show, but without say x tokens per minute being taken away.

Which I think is a plus for members who have been tipping, but may not have the budget or the stash of tokens to watch a full group session or a private show.

I can't really see the harm if it's added and all tippers that were tipping towards the show countdown get to see it and those that didn't don't.

I'm not saying you have to eliminate public shows with this addition, or that it's better than groups or privates even. But, I do think it probably would cultivate a more responsive tipping base.

I'm on the fence. On one hand I love the idea. I have a rather small following but loyal and do their best to get me to my shows and I would love to be able to reward them with a password show with no freeloaders barking out demands and interrupting everyone's good time.

On the other hand, privates are a good boost for me in every way and I think I may feel pressure to allow password shows to take the place of some privates. Of course I'd stand my ground and put up rules of some sort to have something to back me up but I can see how it may change the way MFC is ran.

I can understand that. But I think as long as the model make clear in private we do what you want (within limits of course) and in reward shows we do what I want, it should be fine.

I like the idea because I wouldn't be watching my tokens tick away while the model sets up the show. Finishes answering messages, gets toys, etc..

One question that comes to mind, is what stops the freeloaders from selling the password once they have it? I join the show for 50 tokens and then sell it to 10 people for 10 tokens(not that I would ever do that) and I've made as much as you did.

I think calling them password shows is misleading. I'm calling them "reward shows". They are a reward for members who have contributed tokens. The model establishes a criteria say 100 tokens today and/or
chooses which members she wishes to reward by selecting them. So there isn't a password, to remember, to PM, or to share.

This is a very nostalgic idea....really takes me back to the pre-token era.

Great for members who have built up a lot of time on site, not so good for anyone new or socially awkward. Not sure it is such a good idea for models, it will cut incomes in the longer term and will not cut the freeloader issues as they beg for passwords instead. MFC would be a totally different site. It may bring members happier to spend on long shows, but would remove all that fast volume tipping.

Good from my perspective, I could go for quite a few years barely spending at all, until guilt got the better of me. The changes to shows would be much better too as they would most likely extend and be far less rushed as they become increasingly pre-paid in nature.

What seems like an easier option is not necessarily a better one. MFC would have to seriously discuss any changes with its main money earning models before considering it.

Are you still camming? Last I saw your profiles were gone. And I haven't noticed you online in months.

Um. I think @Alisa is an awesome babe and all, but how on earth is this relevant to this thread? Couldn't this just be a private message on ACF or Twitter?

ANYHOW. I hate to see so many premiums against the concept of "password shows" when it's clear that the majority of models want 'em (myself included). My only hesitation is that they will allow girls to set their own private rate if they decide to do a password show for just one person. On one hand, great! I'd be able to charge more if I wanted to. On the other hand, I can imagine newer / lower-ranked models underselling themselves. I like the fact that private rates on MFC are one of the equalizers.

You should start writing down any important login info in a notepad. You could also try using a password manager if you are comfortable doing so.

Indifferent toward password shows.
