More years ago than I can remember I joined MFC. On the site I found many wonderful models - some sexy, some intelligent, some both. To this day I still follow some of them.

Fast forward a few years. I discovered CB. I found CB's interface so much more user-friendly than MFC's.

Do others have the same comment/complaint? Maybe I'm just not smart enough to understand MFC's interface. Maybe I'm using a decade old website (albeit on a new computer and always updated Chrome browser). 👂

I'm sure to be biased a bit, but I find MFC's interface 100% more easy to navigate, and don't have to worry about having an ad blocker on to avoid all the shitty ads they have around CB. Plus I personally love knowing I won't run into a room with a dick swinging around. :)

I don't like it at all, to me it seems like they just kept adding to it and adding to it and adding to it. If you log in as a model from the homepage you would expect a link right there to open up the broadcast interface right? wrong.

Step 1: Log into homepage.
Step 2: At the top theres a text note saying "You are logged in as a model on our member homepage. If you are trying to broadcast on MyFreeCams or make changes to your account, please go to your Model Admin page at: http://www.myfreecams.com/model_admin/ " so you click that right?
Step 3: You are now at the model admin section, its basically a list of 50 links on the left hand side (yes thats right 50 links), one of them is "broadcast your webcam" you can tell people have problems finding it because they have a big arrow pointing at it, click that.
Step 4: You still aren't there yet, you are now at a page that presents the option if you want to use the browser based broadcaster or the windows based model software. Lets click browser based shall we?
Step 5: You now have to login yet again and then finally when you do that you are at the page where you can set up your camera settings and begin broadcasting.

Now i'm sure every model that uses MFC regularly has the model web broadcaster bookmarked or has the windows software downloaded but I think its a good example that the interface is kind of a mess.

To me CB looks much more simpler and intuitive, consistent colours/fonts, no emojis and larger/less thumbnails so the screen is less cluttered. No clue if any of these are customizeable on MFC though. Overall though I think both sites fall behind some newer sites like ManyVids

I think that OP is a viewer, not a broadcaster, so he is facing dozens of redundant links, the main useful ones of which are well hidden :)
I (computer programmer since 80's ...) neither found alone some options, like ie 'real private', and had to come here to ask my way xD

That's not the 1st thread here on this topic (and some were only trolling mfc ^^) but a link have been posted and I can't find it out... it points to a tentative to make a new clean web interface to mfc. (It's still written in old html style, but just cleaner)
Somebody certainly has it bookmarked ?

and don't have to worry about having an ad blocker on
Everybody should have an ad blocker to do whatever on internet, many ads having also trackers, you should worry of it imo. They don't only block advertisements.

Maybe it was bad timing on my part since I was in a bit of a hurry ( I only had a couple of hours), but I registered at MFC, couldn't figure out a damn thing and subsequently forgot about the whole site. I'm a "computer guy" like @DoD404 and used to navigate various programmers idea of good ideas, but MFC's user interface was high on the list of bad experiences. They could do with a revamp.

It's a bit of a shame since MFC otherwise is held in such a high regard in here.

Ease of use doesn't necessarily translate into more spending, sometimes it's quite the opposite. I will give you an example.. MFC has avatars so you can't see what is happening inside a room unless you actually enter it. Chaturbate has a dynamic thumbnail displaying whatever is happening in the room, with a bit of a crop and a refresh rate of 45 seconds by default. Camsoda has dynamic thumbnails displaying what is happening in the room in real time.

Now, I am certain anyone would say the most effective and interesting option is Camsoda's, it's super easy to use as you can see exactly what you will be entering at a glance whereas on Chaturbate you will click and risk the possibility that in the last 45 seconds the model switched positions, threw some clothes on or is on a pee break. On MFC you can't even tell if the model actually looks like the very flattering picture of herself she picked as avatar. Makes sense members would prefer dynamic thumbnails.

However, from the model perspective, the best option out of the 3 is MFC's avatar. The reason is it promotes member retention. The member takes a leap of faith when clicking on the avatar and he doesn't know exactly what he is going to find in there, when he enters he has to keep an open mind and give you the opportunity to showcase something about your room and your persona. If he is enjoying the room at least a little bit, he will be dissuaded of going back to the homepage to start an egg hunt for another interesting room. This allows space to build up a connection, to create intrigue, to hook people in. On Chaturbate the member is exposed from the homepage to whatever it is you are doing in that moment and you have to compete against all the other girls doing much more explicit stuff, so it trains members to be more oriented towards short term satisfaction of immediate needs, they will not "waste time" watching your lowkey hangout session, or your cooking show, choosing instead to click on a room with an explicit action. And Camsoda... well.. you can watch EVERY SHOW ON THE SITE diretly from the homepage, no need to click, they have turned their landing page into MFC's Lounge and the only reason a member would be inclined to enter a room is to get the audio. I can't think of any reason why a model would want that.

So while MFC's interface is outdated and difficult to use, my guess is that is the sole reason they have managed to keep the quality of their userbase at a maximum with very big spenders in large proportion.

When it comes down to it, it's a matter of personal preference. I've been on MFC for almost five years, and in that time have been on CB, MV, SM, C4S, and a couple of others. But, MFC is the site I've stuck with all this time, and the others are either visited on very rare occasion as there's a specific model I follow or just don't visit anymore.

I will say that while I've been very critical of MFC over the years, there are features I like which may not exist or not done as well elsewhere. Or, perhaps it's just that I'm much more familiar with the interface that it's preferred:

  • Colours: Initially, the green of MFC was very off putting and reminded me of something back in the 90's or early 2000's. But, minimizing the top bar reduces that. However, I find the green much more appealing than the colours of CB or MV. However, I do like SM's darker and more simplistic view over MFC on the main page.
  • Main page: This is where MFC really shines, IMO, Yes, the avatars are fixed pictures. But, so is SM and CB at first glance. MFC's main page is highly customizable when you're a member. I can have it show all models, sort by camscore, friends only, bookmarked, relevancy, etc. I normally have it where it only shows the models who I have on my friends list or are bookmarked. To @Mila_ 's point, yes an MFC member can get a preview into a model's room before even entering it by placing the mouse over the avatar and then hovering it over the camera that shows up in the right corner. This is something that I mentioned a couple of years ago that helps draw me into a new room or see what's going on with a model I already follow. I find MFC's preview much better than SM or CB. Though, when they tried the active tiles a year or two ago, what a disaster that was.
  • Tipping options: This is huge to me. I don't like clicking a UI button to send tips, as I'm a command line junkie. I want to be able to tip via commands, and more importantly, I want to control the sounds (or lack thereof) since I find the tip sounds highly annoying. I also like that I can do a wide range of options from silent, private tipping to full on open tipping of how much and any tip notes. I normally will do a silent tip with hidden amount and hidden tip note. IMO, what I tip a model is between her and I and is no one else's business. If I want it to count towards the goals, I do hidden. If I want it to go to her and not to a goal because other people aren't contributing, that's my choice as well. OnlyFans has the shittiest tipping as everything, including tip notes is public and has sounds. I don't want to read other people's notes, nor do I want them to read mine. Part of the appeal to hidden tip notes is that it can be a nice way of flirting with a model and dirty talk with her and others can't see it.
  • Privates: Again, another place where MFC has it over CB. MFC offers TruePrivates, which is equivalent to exclusive on SM. When I take a model private, I want it exclusively and I want to control that. Not trust whether a model has setup a ticket or password show, etc. I also like that MFC offers recordings of the model in private which I can go back and view at later dates. Where CB has it over MFC when it comes to privates is I think a model should be able to set her rates to what she wants instead of the fixed 60(Spyable) or 80(TruePrivate) on MFC.
  • On site mail: While I don't use it very often, it is nice to be able to send a model an email in case I have a question or comment. Or, if a model wants to send a member something such as purchased content, etc. CB does not offer this. As I recall, SM and MV do this as well.
  • Private messaging: What I like about MFC private messages is that you can send messages to anyone if that person enables the option. This is on by default, however many models quickly turn off and only allow certain people to send them messages. The messaging can also be sent to an offline user so when they log in, the message pops up when they log on. While I think MFC has the advantage here, the one option I'd like to see is where a user can hide their online status and appear offline. Sometimes it'd be nice to just be online to check messages, or browse incognito without having to setup a whole new account.

There's other features I like such as history of chat room talk, private messages, history of rooms visited and tips given along with other features. But, these aren't all that important. Biggest thing is to just take some time and learn the interface of whichever site you're on.

Another thing is that I tend to become a regular in a model's room so I don't do much browsing. Also, most tend to only be on MFC, so not much incentive to go to CB or elsewhere for me. Though, there is a model or two I follow who only do content so I follow them on clipsites instead of cam sites.

Again, it all comes down to personal preference. Use whatever site you like best, and has the models you prefer. There really is no wrong in this manner.

CB has all of these, you can tip by command and anonymously, and you can adjust or turn off tip sounds. Spying can also be turned off in CB, and Pvt show recordings are on by default.

Thanks. Either they didn't exist and have been added since last time I was on CB (well over two or three years ago), or I couldn't find them. Though, I do question the spying aspect on CB since much of what I have read here states that models need to do password or something else in order for them to be exclusive. On MFC, as a member I have two options: TruePrivate or Private. Though, I have to set those in the member options before I request a private. I have it set to always be TruePrivate. This is something I control, not the model. Though, a model has a right to decide whether she wants to do either as some will only do TruePrivates.

They only need to change the spying price to 0 in settings and that turns off spying. Whenever Pvt settings are changed there is a notification that shows up in chat

maybe i lack something, but,

When i open any cam site i see a bunch of squares , with a camera feed. for performance i think yes chaturbate seems to have less lag. but i think stripchat is better for no lag.

but , i think mfc is updating nicely on mobile, seems strange to take this long when flash is ending at the end of the year. ))

all sites have preview mode, so i can easily see each room. all sites seem to have cool tipping features. .

i have been a member on mfc for 200 years now, and the pop up room , and pm is by far my favorite feature off all cam sites. i also love the search, and the price for tokens packages is the best.

i do like chaturbate, stripchat , cam soda,, because they give models a great chance to be on the front page.. i like that a model with an 700 camscore can be front page on chaturbate, this is awesome.

everyone has different view, point towards cam sites, but i can not figure out why this topic of mfc being "bad" keeps getting repeated.. mfc is very good, payment, and token price)))

I agree with you. MFC needs to be understood, loved and enjoyed by this stream! One of the best platforms for creativity. You just need to be able to use it. Well, this is a personal opinion, hurray there is a choice.

I think any time you use something for a few years, there always the temptation of some thing new and shiny.

But yah CB
  • Allowing all genders and all the combinations
  • Up to 4k Video
  • Many payment and payout options
  • Scripts
  • Full Screen Mode
  • Using tabs to free up space, and make things less busy
  • Browsing the directory show useful photos from stream by default
  • Directory for models your fallowing.
They keep trying new things, not all of them work out. But they keep getting better. :3

But I do think there are things that MFC does well.

I'm not very familiar with CB, but my brief time there did not give me reason to stay. First of all, I hated the stupid porn ads. It makes the site look cheap. Something else I didn't like was having the members and chat area are on seperate tabs. But other than that, maybe I'm just used to MFC's old look.
MFC is pretty cool but sometimes it feels like a maze. If I want to change something, do I need go to "My Account", "My Profile" or "Personal Options"? Each option has dozens of links in them. It takes ages to find something. Though it does get easier the longer you use it.

Most logical reply to my post so far. Thanks. Rebuttal:
I've been on CB for years. I never see porn ads. Maybe I don't see them because I'm a token purchaser or maybe I don't see them because I mentally block them out (as I do on Facebook, Twitter, and elsewhere). Too, having members (models) on different tabs is EXACTLY why I prefer CB!
MFC *is* a maze - which is why, after years, I gave up on it.... Perhaps it's a difference of perception from the view of a model and a user?

To be fair for the dick-swinging comment, if you're only on the "female" tab, then you won't (or shouldn't) see this.

You could either be using some form of ad blocker, tracker blocker (such as Ghostery), or do you purchase the "Supporter" status each month for $20.99? Just buying tokens does not remove the ads.

MFC isn't just going to remap the entire homepage and piss off thousands of users that are used to it and enjoy it. But they HAVE been working on a new layout that people can opt to use:

This CAN be confusing for someone new, but I got used to it. I think the biggest thing is that the site has been around for so long and they keep adding options and features (good!) without removing older stuff because when they do remove things that may not be all that useful or widely used, they get backlash from the members and the models. Anyone remember when they removed the ability to rate/admire? That did NOTHING but people were pissed that it was gone. So they don't just remove/change stuff, only add on. Which makes it look more cluttered.

I've experienced both sides, and as a model I appreciate the completely separate model web broadcaster page vs just broadcasting right on the profile page that CB offers. Don't have to deal with the strange scrolling, have all my users on the same page/tab as my chat, and all of my options right in the panel below my video. When I broadcasted on CB I hated the layout while I was on cam.

I personally can not stand ANYTHING on CB’s user layout, as a customer, or model. It always gives me a headache and frustrates me, cause I can never find anything.

I spent months using it at one point, & I’ve never looked back. I’m probably biased af, bc I’ve been on MFC for over 10 years now, but it’s also the only place that I’ve managed to stay around for so long, & there are reasons for that.

Def agree that the ad’s on CB drive me insaneeee. I have an ad blocker on always anyways, but they’re still just gross.

any basic adblocker can block all the CB ads, i've never seen one

It doesn't seem on the surface, but MFC interface has hugely improved in the last 2 years, the homepage is clean with a lot of options

and finally we can sort models by popularity instead of the useless camscore

4wgKo9e.png

chaturbate doesn't even give the option to put the favorites on top: you have to click on the favorites tab and scroll down

MFC has avatars so you can't see what is happening inside a room unless you actually enter it. Chaturbate has a dynamic thumbnail displaying whatever is happening in the room, with a bit of a crop and a refresh rate of 45 seconds by default. Camsoda has dynamic thumbnails displaying what is happening in the room in real time.
not true, MFC has dynamic thumbnails with a refresh rate up to (well... allegedly) 1 frame per second

Been the case for at least a few years now. Not sure if "finally" was sarcastic or not.

It's an option, but default is static avatars. I'm sure you know that, and were just clarifying the "can't see whats happening unless you enter" part of it.

I agree, but also think it's been longer than 2 years since they've added some very nice options for viewers' optimization.

I groked camscore immediately as a way to keep models hustling. Why a viewer would care about it is still a mystery and so I've sorted alphabetically since the start.

MFC has issues, the green is the least of it. But at least they recognize Australia as a country. Sure, CB you can sort by age. "Give me 50+, I want to talk to a woman who heard the same bands" And CB provides - by giving endless previews of exhibitionist mall Santas wanking.

but the default page is such a mess (slow, heavy) that I assume everyone changes the settings as soon as possible

How are static avatars slower/heavier to load than a page full of moving previews?

i really liked cb's password shows options and the relaxed feel when they started. but, i prefer mfc's business model and treatment by far. cb had a lot of promise, but for my perspective, they dropped the ball pretty dang quickly.

Thanks for sharing the apps interface, the model feed is definately better. But I am so use to the old format and all the bells and whistles I have learned. I have to say I still like the original best. I am weird that way.

And that comment is exactly why mfc won’t just completely redo their entire default interface. Because a lot of folks just don’t want a change.
Naysayers act like everyone hates the way the default mfc homepage looks but they don’t. A small percentage does.
