What did you think of it?
A local cinema recently did a nostalgia weekend and showed back-to-back movies from the 80's. I took my kids to watch BTTF and they absolutely loved it!

Only problem is now they have an insatiable curiosity about the 80's and keep asking me to describe what life was like then
I loved it! It was text book 80s movie 100% lol. I was too young to remember the 80s but I can't believe I never watched it growing up in the 90s.

For the first day of Halloween (October 1st), I watched The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It. It was... awful lmao. I have enjoyed other movies in this franchise but this one was trullyyyy terrible.

The latest show to blow me away is Mr. Mercedes—I’m pretty late to the party, since it’s been out for quite a while now.

I think Mr. Mercedes is worth watching above all for its psychological cat-and-mouse game and its characters. It feels more like a dark, disturbing crime thriller than a typical Stephen King horror series.

Brendan Gleeson is excellent as a gruff, damaged, and stubborn retired cop. Opposite him, Harry Treadaway makes Brady genuinely unsettling: his everyday life is just as disturbing as his violence. For me, the dynamic between the two is the show’s greatest strength !

Sinister (2012) starring Ethan Hawke. I saw it once before during a Netflix watch party with friends during the pandemic, and decided to watch it again tonight.

Now I'm back to resuming today's Frasier marathon on Pluto (Live TV) before I need to get to bed.

Frasier is guilty pleasure of mine!

Damn, the new Carrie adaptation on Amazon prime is very well made. It has all the stuff that makes the original movie great, but with greater depth. Absolutely loved the first two episodes so far.
I ain't saying shit.... but it gets really Stephen King-y at the end! Hope that wasn't too much said lol It's great!

I grew up watching the original with, which was very effective, but also very gloomy and cold. This version has you rooting for Carrie and caring for her. It’s a true coming age narrative, much more like the book. Really loved it. You know the tragedy is coming, you know the tragedy happened, yet you still have to watch. That’s storytelling:)

I root for Carrie in the original too but maybe that's because I read the book first. It's extremely difficult to see the humanity in the school bullies and by the end I'm just like, okay her response makes sense tbh even though I cannot condone it...

Have you seen the new show yet? They certainly add a few things to the end.

Like I was expecting some territories shit to start happening almost, they put Carrie into a much bigger universe and shes some sort of savior in a war that has been happening in secret for decades now.

I haven't but now I want to! Sounds like a totally different story lol. Maybe something for people who didn't want to just see the same story again. (yes i had every opportunity to avoid the spoiler but i decided to ruin the surprise for myself)

My star pull for horror suggestions is this Korean movie that was only on Netflix for a couple years in the late 2000s. It's called White: The Melody of the Curse I believe and there's not a dubbed version so you have to read the whole time. But it's SOOOO good. Hidden gem for sure.

Definitely () making a list! I liked the two Smile movies too!

Looks like Sleepaway Camp has a few sequels too

I will try it out. I thought about a wholistic horror thread, because there are movies, there are books and short stories, and there video games. I think horror is a medium and not a genre. From the ancient societies scaring children by the campfire, to surviving a zombie apocalypse in a first person shooter game, horror was always there:)
