Bawsky summed it up quite right.

I'm currently in middle management for a well know shipping company (hell, you may have even called me if a wishlist item didn't show up on time!) and the grey, cold corporate world is killing my soul slowly. I say we were born naked, and if the ideology of this fucked up society has made it profitable to show off what's only natural...so be it. I wish to have a little fun and not have to answer to anyone but my own intuition. Hopefully, this cam gig will afford me some extra income to pay for school (student loans...what a joke) or ideally a right ticket out of the prison I'm in while I cam, pay for school and start building up my dream freelance business.

For now, by all means I am thankful for a regular salary, and hard work should pay of and all, but it's a shame to feel like a suit and 7am meetings is what life is supposed to be. Life is what you make it and I choose to make it something at least a bit more interesting than mis-deliveries and weather delays.

I was a licensed massage therapist before beginning camming working at a high-end spa making great $/hr but you can't ever get a lot of hours doing massage most of the time and when you do, they overwork you. I averaged 20-30% what I make now camming back then and I spent way too much money going to school for it.

I can't see myself ever working at a "normal" job again.

I was working two jobs on & off for a few years. Found MFC & I've never been any happier! I am almost finish with cosmetology school, so once I'm finished with that I'll become a hairdresser & still cam at night & on the weekends. camming is too inconsitant for me to keep it as my main job, but ive made more money camming that i ever have working two jobs.

I still work outside of camming. I didn't for months because camming was just too easy and lucrative but it's not my PASSION.

I got a job again and now I work part time nursing. However, I ONLY do it part time because any more than that burns me out (it's a hard job). I know I can't cam forever so I've decided to keep working outside of it. It makes me happy. :)

:headbang: exaaaactly, the additional income I generate from camming allows me to do what I genuinely love professionally! Sometimes that has meant working for a pitifully small amount of money to gain valuable experience in an area of my industry that intrigues me, and sometimes that has meant the ability to invest in things like marketing to bring profitable business right to my doorstep (I do small business bookeeping, organizational reform and HR training mostly on a project basis so one week I might work 80 hours and one week I might work 20 hours, it's all over place so it kicks ass to have camming during the slow weeks) Many girls regard their "RL Jobs" as their safety net because camming can be fickle, but at this point I have the opposite perspective - cam income allows me to pursue things professionally that I otherwise wouldn't experience because the associated paycheques wouldn't even cover my wine addiction :)

I found that camming "full time" still allows for plenty of hours in the day I could use to pursue things I really loved and was interested in. IE: I was very interested in immigration law relating to skilled workers so I could match my own clients with eager, dedicated, motivated workers- but not to the point that I wanted to pursue a law degree in it, or actually go work for pennies in an underfunded non-profit dealing with landing new comers, or be required to show up 40 hours a week in an actual business who matches skilled immigrant workers with employers, so I found an administrative volunteer/loosely defined "internship" position basically pushing paper for 8 weeks and learned a TON. This was like 2 years ago and to be honest I haven't had much cause to actually utilize what I learned lol (professionally I'm just stumbling in different directions) but it looks killer on a resume and the time I dedicated to it didn't cut into my cam time at all.

I've had many jobs trying to find my place in this world.
I've worked for a large consulting firm specializing in private practice management, making a large paycheck and HATING my life.
I was training to be a dog groomer, realized I would kill the large amount of horrible owners if I stuck with it and finished my training.
Worked for a large Telecom company for a few years. Worked my way up to training manager while camming at night. The day they talked about a promotion to a salary position I quit. Best decision of my life.

Unless something drastic happened I don't think I could ever work for someone else ever again. Camming takes up majority of my life. A day off is never really a day off and I get exhausted but it's SO rewarding and I love what I do! I'm using camming to help plan to rest of my life, so the 15 hour work days are worth it.
In case anyone is confused, I'm not on cam for 15 hours but since most days I do two full shifts I'm in cam mode from the time I wake up until I go to bed most days.

im realizing that for a lot of cam girls, mfc is their full time job and for me it has become my only source of income.
Do you guys have other jobs, "normal" jobs? If you dont would you consider going back to one?

My first job was at 18 I started working in massage parlors so I made a lot of money, now I started on mfc and honestly I may sound lazy but I cant see myself working 40-45h shifts for minimum wage...
I'm starting school this year so camming is my only source of income right now. Once I get my degree I will probably still cam some until I get more situated financially.

For the last three years I've worked at a casino in the Blackjack department as both a dealer and floor supervisor (this is the step before a pit boss). I have been camming for 2 years on the side but have never really considered doing in full time. I usually work nights 10pm-6am or 2am-10am then get up early and spend a few hours camming before work. Dealing cards is much like camming in the sense that you build up regulars and its off tips so some nights are good while others bad. I also never worked more than 30 hours a week dealing and made awesome money. If I had to choose I would choose dealing cards just because it is slightly more stable, not to mention the employer benefits.

My true passion is to one day operate an animal shelter so everything right now just to work towards my goals :)

I ran an animal shelter for 3 years. I made - if i was lucky - $65 a day. When I was started it was $40 a day. 8-10 hour days. At one point I was sleeping there because someone was trying to poison the dogs.

As the shelter got deeper and deeper in debt and my exhubby neede to go to school - I had to do something or we were screwed.

Over the next three months my marriage fell apart, and i was outed at my job and fired. I fell madly in love with a regular on MFC and moved to new mexico with my dogs for a fresh start.

I now have the freedom to work and do the rescue I love...and to not have to ASK to be paid for my time.

Camming is my only source of income right now, but I hope to use camming now to help me achieve other professional goals in the future. I finished my BA and am spending the next year applying to graduate programs after taking some time to work in a few fields and narrow down my interests. Prior to camming, I was working in psych in a hospital setting, but the lack of resources/funding and some personal revelations have lead me on a different course. When I was working fulltime jobs outside of camming, they demanded so much of my time/energy/attention that I really struggled to find the time to advance my own goals - honestly even if I'd had time, I wouldn't have been able to afford to pursue them.

This. Because of camming I can take on unpaid internships, volunteer, and generally get involved in ways that interest me or develop my professional skills, without having to commit to working full time in that field. Amazing.

YES. I can build my business slowly and do it right, rather than having to constantly hustle to keep afloat.

This year, I was promoted from lead technician for my company to tri-state regional tech director. I also created the entire business model for a new tech-focused store, including EVERYTHING related to equipment, inventory, store setup, and what I thought were going to be our hiring practices. It was a fucking disaster. Long story short, they didn't live up to a single promise, whether it was pay or hiring/firing ability - never have I been so offended by someone's use of the phrase "It's your show," because the only things I retained control over, despite GREAT performance, were those that I set into place before the store was opened. I relapsed into severe EDNOS, not eating more than a bite or two for up to 3 days because I was so stressed out over all the broken promises, mainly the fact that I was promised control over my new store and was given NONE. Oh, yeah, and the 14 hour days where I made less than $100 because of their lies about my pay. Oh, sure, I designed and set up all the merchandising BS and set all the prices/policies, but my passion in life is making business run smoothly. That store could have been doing twice as well.

So I started my own company. It's still a tiny startup, but I'm making a ton more for the time I put in than I ever have before. I am legitimately able to charge the equivalent of over $200 an hour for labor because of how efficient my work is. And I LOVE running a business because I am a fucking ridiculous number crunching geek.

Camming was supposed to be mostly for fun, but I'm having even more fun realizing that it's another chance to expand my business skills. Tons of transferable skills, just like the admin stuff I did for my old WoW guild. :]

I work as car detailer and dishwasher.... i do cam just to earn some extra, but my limitations are the few time that i have and specially the limited internet connection, is a shared connection and has only some GB x Month.....
I started this just 'cause i was curious and i was a member of a couple of videochat....

I worked at a Chick-fil-A and Jersey Mike's. at cfa, there was some weeks they'd schedule me for literally 3 hours. I quit JM after a month because I was the only girl there and they were dicks to me.

I moved to Vegas about 6 weeks ago and have been looking for a job nonstop but every place wants experience. I cammed a few times during summer so I decided to just do it again til I found a job. I wasn't motivated at my apartment (especially since I don't have any furniture still and its just not cute for camming, ya know?) so I decided to go to a studio that I kept seeing on craigslist. I'm doing a lot better the past 2 weeks than I have any other time. I could never imagine working at a fast food place again. Even I've tried looking for a job still after starting at the studio and I can't bring myself to do it. Why make $8.25 an hour when I can make $60 in an hour?
I plan to do this until I finish cosmetology school (which I start in december), so hopefully it can continue to help pay my bills. but who knows, maybe I'll continue to do this after I finish school.

I'll never have a normal job. I don't do normal. I can't do normal. I just plain hate normal.

I won't cam forever, but I will always be hustling for myself, by myself.

This. I've had one normal job and got myself fired (looking back I knew what I was doing so meh).

Ive had a bunch of normal jobs, but yeah I agree with you guys, can't do it! Not good with having some douche tell me what to do. Plus I tend to call off alot or tell someone off.

I went to school for massage therapy and than never even took the test to get my license, lol. Such a waste of money going to school :( Well at least I got a ton of free massages :)

I work on mfc full time right now. I worked at McD's for 4 years as a shift manager. They had me constantly scheduled horribly long hours, and kept switching me from day to night almost every other day. I worked there till I got a concussion, from a 15 lb box falling straight on my head. It took them soo long to mail my comp check (I got it after 2 and a half months) I missed almost a month worth of work. I had to find work fast. I started mfc once my head was better, and don't miss my 9 dollar an hour job at all!

I was a stripper for 8 years as my full time job. Then my knees got bad and I had to get a "real job." My knees very slowly got better, but by then I was too old to get hired in a strip club again. I started camming on mfc in January of 2010, but only did it for a few months and got busy working on my house. Just got back to it a couple weeks ago.

I am employed full time now, very good stable job with excellent bennies, but I still like to dance and entertain, so camming gives me that outlet. The full time job reliably pays my bills and keeps me fed, and the few hours a week that I can work on mfc let me have a few extras. This month it's paying for a new computer and decent webcam. Next month, hopefully enough to pay for blood work and a dental for my retired racing greyhound. After that, saving for a new roof on my house and a trip home to visit my parents :D
