So, yesterday, I googled my camgirl name, and I found out that all of my shows have been recorded by a bot who has been putting them on various sites. I'm pissed off, but I'm not too alarmed by this, as it's something I expected when going into this field. All I have to do is file a DMCA report, and it should be over with.
Unfortunately, it goes a bit deeper than that. On the last page of search results, I find someone on 4chan using a picture of me from my personal instagram and asking everyone if they have more pics and/or videos of me. Furthermore, he's trying to get people to download the videos off of upstore and send them to him so he can watch them. With a little more sleuthing, I find out that this guy is 20 years old and lives in my state, and may even go to my school, which is scary as hell, because he may be trying to out me or something. I really want to go into journalism, and maybe even become a news anchor, but I'm so scared he could ruin my dreams.
Does anyone have any advice or similar stories?
It's things like this that make me wish I never started camming.

The moment you broadcast on bigger sites, you get recorded automatically.

The moment you broadcast, you chose to be on the Internet. I understand you mean sites solely for recording webcam girls. However you will be archived on all regular sites too. For instance wayback machine (http://archive.org) tries to keep record of Internet as much as possible.

You can't broadcast and stay invisible. If that's a shock now, I am sorry to hear. Keep in mind technology only progresses, on the Internet and dissappear is a delusion. Dmca is a scam... Claim copyright if you feel robbed, but accept you never get deleted from the Internet

Honestly, in this field you have to accept that you future will always be in jeopardy as far as careers. ESPECIALLY if the career path you choose would be in the public eye. As far as what you should do about this particular guy- it's hard to say. Right now it seems that he is just obsessed but isn't causing you any harm per say. I would keep a close eye on it incognito. Make all of your personal social media private and perhaps even choose profile pictures that don't blatantly show your face up close? Also I would block your state on the camping platforms you use so that it is less likely to happen in the future. I wouldn't confront this guy if I were you though unless it got really out of hand, I feel that confrontation could just lead to him get hurt and "retaliate".

She clearly stated she wasn't too surprised by the recording part, she is asking advice on the being stalked part. The recording of her shows was support for her main point. She doesn't need to be told 3 times how the internet works.

4chan isnt a site which keeps record. She's been caught by Google cash, simular to archives.

What would you do? Ask advice on another open source or confront the guy?

Keep real. The Internet isn't a diary or your shrink. Next time I try to be more precise.

Whats with all the bitchy responses to this thread. She's clearly stated she understands this is a reality with camming, and is asking for support/advice for the situation she is currently in NOW ... not a lecture about why "she should know that this is a possibility". She already said she got that part.

As to the original issue - im really sorry this twat face is doing this. I would shut down all your personal social media if possible. If your real name/school and other identifying details are anywhere on the internet with your pics get it off as fast as you can. Keep an eye on the guy and gather all the info you can about him. Screenshot his activity.

I have a similar story (creepy member got my info and put it everywhere online associated with my camname years ago) however beyond my family finding out .. (which would suck but not be the end of the world) i had a lot less to lose.

I would also remind you we currently have a first lady in the US who was a nude model. Maya angelou was a sex worker.

While it might be a huge stumbling block if you are outed, I fully believe that won't have to ruin your dreams.

I never wanted to have to shut down my personal social media, or even make it private. I don't want to have to live my life in hiding because I chose to make money this way instead of doing something boring like food service. Ever since childhood, I've always wanted to have my face in the public eye and be on tv or something. I might as well just die.
I'm a pretty well known person on my college campus, and I'm scared to even show my face knowing someone will remember me.

I apologize if I came off bitchy :worried: definitely did not mean to whatsoever! I agree with Miss_Lollipop though. If you don't want to delete your personal social media (I wouldn't want to but thats just me lol) Make them private and remove info on Fb like your school. I really hope that this guy just has a "secret crush" and doesn't do anything to negatively impact your life.

look at his posting history to see what else he's into that might narrow down his public interests.

eventually I'd make two 4chan accounts, one to draw him into conversation pretending to be into the same shit, another later on to say you're on one of the piracy recording-bot websites and you can download her vids for him if he's willing to pay you for it ... and try to bait him into disclosing further identity details (some scam like 'I can send you a pendrive, unless you're on the darkweb it's not secure to send them electronically, I don't wanna lose my account')

if he is trying to fuck your life, you need the means to have a surprise party for him so he knows it's not worth the bother. it's actually in your favor that he may be a local. the worst creep I've encountered so far would be a $600 hassle to sort out.

eventually I'd make two 4chan accounts,

How many memes do I need to get a 4chan account??? I think I have over 9000.

-----

In seriousness, I agree with the other models - don't engage him, lock down your profiles (even for a bit), and keep an eye on him. He will likely get bored and move on to something else.

I would read the thread about submitting DMCAs. Signing up with a company to file them for you is probably the easiest to help minimize your capped shows and make it harder to find what he's looking for.

The truth is though, that shutting down your social media is what i would advise you to do. Face recognition software is getting better fast and will advance further. That is just a fact. Unless you are really okay with the consequences, i'd strongly advise you to change or delete your social media accounts.

Ensure that your geo-blocks are in place firstly; this includes a review of your friends list, as it bypasses geo-blocks.

Keep a record of everything that you can in relation to what you have found out. If you can find out who this is, it would be better for you, so keep looking, but don't let that rule your life as tempting as that may be.

Keep up the DMCA reporting.

I can't see you deleting your social media so there is no point saying that you should. Your Instagram will have to be deleted or seriously reformatted and secured at the very least. Do not use images there or anything else that can be linked to any other social media. My guess in this that you are probably too late, the guy is probably into other media by now.

Always be mindful of your personal security, if anything feels off trust that (good advice for anyone). Should this guy find you and try to meet you, your instinct will tell you so you can send them on their way. You will instinctively know when you meet someone who has seen you cam, trust yourself with that.

Lastly keep living your life, some of these types get off on disrupting others lives more that posing a serious threat. Keep the concerns you have out public arenas. You must always look calm, in control, and unaffected by all this.

Change all of you social media to fake everything. Fake last name, fake state, and don't post outings that you go on until you are done. Don't tag your mom as your mom on facebook, and make sure you make all your Facebook photos that contain anyone but you visible to only friends. Also don't have your email or contact info on your personal sites. You can keep your social media if you cover your ass. It won't 100% protect you, but that should help some. Also don't send anyone from a chat site a picture you have on social media. They can look up sites that contain the pictures.

:bored: Maybe start with one... Don't forget to ask all the anonymous that are posting how to make it.

lol, all I mean is establish a persona. it'd be easier to bait him if he didn't think every message was a totally different person :p

I don't think you understand 4chan. There is no formal sign up process. You can use a trip code and create an ID, but the majority of people don't use them or take them seriously. So it's kinda hard to social engineer a board full of anonymous trolls :giggle:

This guy is an asswipe (goes without saying I know) but try not to give him too much power over you like this. You are giving him to much credit, he most likely has no idea you know jack shit about who he really is age etc whatever you have scrounged up on him and is a total coward (most are in my experience in things of this nature, but you do have your nutcases) he is a pirate you have evidence of that and he is illegally using your image and if you have proof of that I would report that asap. Pretending to be someone else even online is a misdemeanor in my state and they don't fuck around with it. I have run into people using my image online pretending to be me before for whatever reason and I report it every single time to multiple places. Just my thoughts and pocket change opinion on the matter though. I hate slime like this.

I would just privatize your personal accounts. any public accounts you run, do not put pictures of yourself on there.

gonna echo this.

seriously? I agree with the earlier 'sounds normal' comment.
if it was a picture of (hang on let me run to the local blokes group I have on facebook), susan coffey or jessica nigri or mia khalifa or whatshername the bikini model with the epic hourglass ratio, you'd think nothing of some guy being a perv and wanting to see more of her content (at least, no guy I know would think shit about it), likewise about wanting to get content for free via the internet...a lot of intellectual property creators don't like that, but it's pretty normal behavior (especially for the generation of Napster and torrents, before iTunes and Spotify and Audible tried to give people a non-asswipe alternative).

though I'll side with her concern if she says her instagram pics reveal public places recognizable to people in her city. (a lot of pics I like I can't share because they show you exactly where you could find me if you were patient enough). It's so common for a gym selfie of a girl to be posted by a guy where other guys say 'hey, that's my gym!'

What if I just stopped camming? Would that remedy this? I could get a vanilla job like retail and never look back. Will that work?

It reduces exposure, sure. I guess you will be fine but there is never a guarantee for anything. Anything on mfc on the public cam is autocapped by a bot. That's no big secret. Maybe it will be deleted at some point, maybe not. If anything you are just one of million videos of girls on the internet, so it's possible you just "go under in the masses".

Edit: Did you use that partical photo from instagram on any of your cam profiles ever or did you ever publish a profile picture on insta too? Even if you deleted it later, this might be the way the guy found it in the first place.

I was going to say something about this last night, but balked, but you should be aware that searching for your cam name turns up your account on this forum, so whether it was your intention or not, this guy has probably, or will probably see this thread.

Given that he is looking for access to some of your videos, but isn't willing to put out any money for them, I would think Aella is correct, and he just doesn't get that there is an element of consent involved in viewing pornography, and stealing porn is wrong, and porn with people you know from your personal life is off-limits unless they say so. I assume having a picture from your Instagram means he knows who you are, and if he were interested in gathering evidence of your activities, it is out there, so what's done there has probably been done.

No. That picture has never graced my MFC, although I did delete it from my Instagram today.

No one can tell you "yes" because we can't predict what outside parties do or it would just be false assurance as all of us know internet=forever. He wouldn't have any new content to collect at least but no one can promise it would remedy the circulation of current stuff :(

I would just delete everything camming related and not look back. (I say this since everything you wrote before about your dream job where outing can hinder that/you wish you never started camming)

Many of us have been outed in one way or another and I think in the begining it can be easy to get carried away into thinking this one person is going to ruin your entire life. I try not to assume every guy leaking my info/videos etc isn't some obsessive stalker vs just a freeloader porn guy overly excited/fan girl-ing that he knows someone in real life who is a camgirl. A few times I got messages from guys in my town who have seen me jogging/at the grocery store/with my family etc and it's easy for me to immediately freak out and think they are out to be creepy and stalk me when it's just .... guys not realizing they are being weird. I have a former classmate of mine who posted about me on a forum for my area about how I'm a camwhore now and my cam name etc.

I have a lot less to lose, but if it's any comfort many of us have been through similar things and survived it. I'd delete everything and keep a low-profile on regular social media for a few weeks after quitting if possible :h: no one here can tell you exactly what will work/what will work best for you but you have a lot of great suggestions :)

I would care. I wouldn't care who the model is or the person for that matter using my pictures. Pirated content I am not a fan of and it only considered "the norm" because so many people assume "everyone" does it. I am against any pirated form of anything on the internet. I am also against people using pictures of others with no permission no matter who they are or where they come from on their own profile or for any purpose that they haven't gotten written permission for. Call me crazy. Meh.

I'm no fan of that, either, but to me it's more about the ethics between user-and-view than user-and-IP-property-holder.
(sorry to post off topic, OP)
