Politicians not matter where they are in the world are generally disgraceful. They all have their own agenda which they'll sacrifice the people for in an instant. Fortunately I've had free healthcare as I'm British, but the way our government is going we aren't going to be far behind you guys :(

I've gotta let it out in the open. Even in places where there's free health care (like where I live in), private medicine, and medicinal tourism can get a priority. Just because it's free, don't mean it'll be on time, it's more complicated than that.

It definitely varies between people and situations (and countries!), and I know some Canadians have had issues, but I've had overall really good experiences with our healthcare. Personally I've not yet dealt with anything too serious but I have had to go to the ER a few times and the wait was reasonable and based on urgency. The times I've waited a long time to see specialists was again because it wasn't urgent. I've had a parent dealing with cancer twice, which means hospitals, specialists, etc and they got great care the whole way through. Of course there are private options if you want things quicker (one parent paid for an MRI because they didn't want to wait), but it wasn't an urgent matter.

Anyway I've seen a lot of American media saying Canadians are unhappy or underserved by our healthcare (usually I think to dissuade people from thinking our system is a good option), but just from a personal perspective, I think it's great. All my doctor visits and most hospital stuff is covered for $65 per month, which is on a sliding scale and is the highest anyone pays (and actually my work pays it). People with low income don't have to pay at all.

I have a firsthand experience, the only place in which people are treated equally is the ICU, and ironically that's where you wanna keep your old man the longest, because he'll receive the best and unbiased care. May you never go through that I hope.

Firsthand experience in Canada?

I can't believe I am buying broccoli, cauliflower and spinach and eating it every day. I never liked them as a kid and how it was prepared for me at the dinner table (all cooked and wet and stuff my body couldn't handle), but, WOW I love the stuff now. Raw, uncooked, and just chopped! Next up, my greatest food fear: Brussel Sprouts! :)

House hunting will be the end of me. I swear. Can someone just take our fucking offer. I want to hurt lots of people.

Hopefully while Im at the clip retreat 1 out of the 2 houses we put in an offer in will take us and I can celebrate and forget all about this hell.

No, but seeing your loved one thrown into a hall bed, because someone paid top Dollars from abroad to have a Jewish doctor sounds cynically funny, until it happens to you.
I don't think it's funny. Anyway like I said, different situations, different people, different countries. I've seen two parents go through our healthcare system with cancer, one successfully and one not, and so I think we've each got our own unique experiences to pull from. I'm sorry to hear that happened to you.

Brussel Sprouts are amazing when not covered in Velveeta cheese. Ah, even then they shined through. Broccoli, cauliflower - you lost me at spinach. Seasoned cooked collard greens though, mmm. Rest nice and fresh or steamed, yum.

We had a garden when I was a kid and mom would get on me for eating the Brussel Sprouts raw so she could can them. Oh and radishes, I was always eating them before they got big. And the peas off the vine, hell I was worse than rabbits. ;)

Didn't like tomatoes at all until I heard of pizza. My food downfall.

The perks of working so many years with food is memorizing the good recipes :) I used to prepare a Caprese salad (The name is derived from the Capri island). Only 4 ingredients, and simplicity. A real Mozzarella ball cut into discs, a raw cut tomato, fresh Basil leaves, and olive oil. The moment it becomes complex it becomes a silicone valley dish, and not Italian food, it basically should look like this:

Now i just made myself hungry again.....

And now I need to wipe up some drool. I'm a sucker for anything that contains real cheese.

There's even a more corrupt version, called a Mozzarella Burrata, when the Mozzarella ball is liquid on the inside, and it bleeds all over the tomatoes, Goes a long with a light Barbarescu red wine, or a Chianti. I was a sneaky waiter, wasn't a model but I made my living based on tips for a very long time too :)

Happy Birthday! May you never experience a Brussel Sprouts incident again, or a Newfoundland frozen cake:)

Too much roadkill.
Going back to the city I grew up in, I see many changes have taken place since I called it home.
Most of my friends are long gone, a few states or half a world away.
The ones that are still there in the city could not make it past the wreck-age. They still stumble about high on this or that trying to make sense of the last 20 years which left them so far behind.
I often wonder if this is how ghosts or apparitions come to be.
Bodiless souls searching in death for what they never found in life. Relentlessly wandering the streets as roadkill.

MFC needs to find a way to keep the YouTube minors from following their crushes to MFC.
I grow weary of hearing "Oh gosh! boobies! hehe"
"Where do I get tokens?'
"If I give you 10 tokens how long before you are #1?"
:facepalm

When you're commuting in a traffic jam, and you realise that you and the person in front are avoiding eye contact in order to stare at each other's reflection on the window...

Reflection Romance.
