Hi Folks,
It's Rosie here from Beyond the Gaze research project at University of Leicester. We posted a while back about research interviews we were carrying out, a big thanks to those people who got in touch with us and took part and to Ambercutie for giving us space in the forum to let models know about the research.
Today our online survey goes live & it would be fab if web cam models on ambercutie would help us & consider taking part.
First a bit about the research generally, ‘Beyond the Gaze’ is the largest study to date of Internet-based sex work & is being carried out by an experienced team of researchers at Leicester and Strathclyde Universities, who have many years’ experience of research with people working in adult services/sex industry. It is a UK-wide study, funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, which is collecting important new data on Internet-based sex markets, working conditions in this sector, how these markets are regulated and what is needed to improve sex workers’ safety. The study is participatory, having current and former sex workers as part of the team and other mechanisms for consulting adult entertainers.
As part of this research we are seeking the views and experiences of sex workers living and/or working in the UK who use the Internet in their work, through an online survey. The survey is designed for sex workers of all genders working in adult services, including escorts, webcammers, providers of erotic massage, BDSM and other sexual services. It focuses on adult service providers use of online and digital technologies, working conditions and job satisfaction, safety, privacy and reporting crimes, and how the UK laws could better protect sex workers.
The survey does not collect any identifying information & is completely anonymous. We have permission from the University ethics committee and work within strict ethical guidelines to protect the privacy and anonymity of all people taking part in our research. The survey should take no longer than 15-20 minutes to complete.
The results of this project will be used to inform policy and practice in order to improve working conditions and services. Project outputs will include a range of briefings informed by the research findings Go to our website to find out more about the research and the team who are carrying it out: http://beyond-the-gaze.com/.
