Get an image you want to be the link. Google images will come up with a few. Save it to your computer.
Load it up to somewhere such as imageshack.us

Don't add music.
I put it on there when I started - its a very amatuer-ish move. Members find it annoying, especially when they are WATCHING YOU and your music and they click on your profile and suddenly Clashing music starts playing. Then htey have to go find the player to turn it off.
The one biggest change i've made to my profile over the last 2 yrs was NOT putting a music player on there. I took it off and all I got was THANK YOU's..

Perfect, thanks so much. And If I want to post just a picture that I've put together? How do I do that? Can I only put that in the about me section?
