A discussion in Amber's chat prompted me to ask.

I personally would NEVER approach a model friend randomly in public, that seems like a fantastic way to end a perfectly good friendship and be branded a pervert and a stalker for life. No thank you, I'd prefer to be perceived a little nicer than that.

But what do you guys think? How would you react to a chance encounter with one of your regulars?

****I didn't notice where I was :p I took it if I saw a model...

It really depends on who it is.

I've met a few models, so if I ran into them in *my* town, I would go up and say hey.
In other places, I would stay a respectable distance and let them see me.

If it's a model I like and never met/cam2cam I would get their attention and leave them alone.
Then I would say hey that guy was me, and tell them I wouldn't say anything about it in public chat (have to keep the real stalkers away).

I'm taking an Israeli martial arts class for precisely this reason. I'm not saying I *will* snap your neck if you approach me, I just want to have that option if things go south
:)

I've bumped into several people from MFC, models and members alike.

Depending if I recognize them or not I'll give them a hug, shake their hand, or chat with them. If they're someone I don't know I'll probably just admit that yep, I'm Alex, and ask them to leave me alone.

What I -don't like- is a member saying they've seen me somewhere (that is, when it's true and not just a fail troll.)

For one I don't want the rest of the cam room knowing whatever personal detail about where I was and what I was doing, and two if it was someone cool WTF didn't you say hi? I guess the only reason that not saying hi would be a good thing would be if people who had no business knowing my personal-cam-life were around me but whom I was forced to be acquaintances with. Then it'd be wise.

It's far more creepy for someone to use the anonymity of the internet to say that is all.

Besides I'm true friends with a lot of my fans as well as other models. It'd be fine to bump into them.

In all my years of the internet I've never before bumped into or met up with people. Sex toys and birthday presents still happened though. Granted now people see and hear me so it's easier to recognize me. That and my mannerism and dress already makes me stand out.

It just seems to me that meeting any of the girls outside of say a convention or planned place where they knew they were gonna run into fans would make me look as though I had tracked them down or something. I would NEVER do something like that. I value the friendships I've made on MFC, I'd like to keep them. With the anonymity of the internet comes a sense of security. Should that security leave, its not a stretch to see how someone could go from seeing me as a harmless and friendly premium to viewing me as a dangerous and obsessed stalker. Being perceived as dangerous is something I never want to experience, just the idea of it makes me sick to my stomach.

I'm honestly not sure how to answer this since most of the time I leave the house I'm with my kid. And meeting a regular with the kid near by seems like the worst case scenario I could imagine. However if I was alone or with a friend I wouldn't mind at all so long as they acted like decent human beings and not like a total creep.

I don't know how it happened to be this way but thats the way it is, premiums are always gonna be considered threatening and creepy IRL.

It has nothing to do with MFC being a cam site, either. It doesn't matter if you run into someone from a cam site, a gamer site, a dating site or an online prayer group site. Women who meet guys from the internet IRL need to be careful.

What I find bizarrely ironic about this thread is that somehow it's perfectly OK for many women to answer the door nekkid, where you live, for a complete stranger delivering pizza.

SOME women. Not every chick with a webcam is doing this. Like every fad on MFC it's there to make money. And because of that some women don't feel a threat. I however have had a few bad experiences and know not every guy is as nice and sweet as he makes himself seem online. It depends on the model as to how she'd handle it. Some would eat the attention up, other would run away.

Gimmicky gimmick is gimmicky.

And let's be honest... who's to say that pizza guy isn't a friend or boyfriend of the model? Or at the very least, everything is planned out well in advance and isn't a surprise to the delivery guy?

I've had girls answer the door in bra and panties trying to get out of payment before. They weren't happy with me lol

but back on topic, I'm still interested in some other models input on this.

Not on MFC but on other sites. If someone approached me, I honestly don't think I would like it. If it's at some fetish ball or some other event I said I would be at, no issues obviously. I would love to meet guys at such events. Just at some coffee shop or out with a friend for a day of shopping.....no. I feel it's my time away from camming and I really think I would feel my personal space was sorta being invaded if that makes sense. Not to mention, I might not have told someone I am out with about what I do and might not want it known. Someone just approaching me out of the blue and basically saying, hey I have seen ya all nekkie and stuff might put me on the defensive. :p

i'm soo lucky to be one of the few dutch models (or unlucky depends on how you look at it)
and just strumbled on very few dutch members...
also i live in a small city in holland.. and the smaller it is.. the less people that live there
i wouldnt reckonize most of the members.. but i would say hi for sure.. i'm a pretty big girl with a big attitute so you dont just harras me haha
i dont think i would mind at all and will find it more cool then scary

Scream and whack them over the head with the sledge hammer I keep around for such occasions.

But seriously...I don't know. Probably have a panic attack. I am NOT very socially inclined when I'm out in public. I go out to get what I need done and don't interact with others unless it's vital to the trip. Having someone who's only interest in me has been sparked by seeing me in the buff be nearby...not cool. Luckily I'm rarely out and about without my s/o who is very large and imposing. It'd discourage creepers from approaching me I believe. Well, it discourages most people from approaching me. But not staring. :?

There is one way you can easily come across as not-creepy, in a way that the model is already familiar with.

Just carry around a bag of 200 nickels, and toss it to them, with a tip note tied to it.

I've met more women that men should be afraid of when meeting than the other way around. Actually, I would bet it's worse meeting people at a bar than online.

LOL! OMG... I started laughing so loud that I was coughing at this.... Hahahaha.

And I have to say I think I agree with Keithy's point about it probably being more dangerous meeting someone at a bar than online. I just don't get the mass hysteria about meeting people off the internet... They are all still people. Yes there are creepers. Yes there are stalkers and rapists and murders... But there are just as many of those types of people living around you all the time. It's not like there is more on the internet, they are all still people "in real life."

Personally, so long as I wasn't with my family, it would abso-fucking-lutely make my day if someone came up to me and was like, "Hi Naomi!" I wouldn't be happy if they did start acting disrespectful or creepy... Just as I wouldn't be happy if ANY person did that to me, it would have nothing to do with the fact that they know me off of MFC or the internet. I'm hoping most people who would recognize me would realize when I was with my mom at least, I mean it's usually pretty obvious when someone is hanging with their momma. I don't go out with her too much anyways, so no big deal. Also, I truly hope that anyone I know off MFC knows me well enough to know how friendly and outgoing I am and would feel comfortable approaching me. So, anyone reading this, please feel free to come and say hi if you ever do see me! Although, like AlexLady mentioned I wouldn't be happy with someone coming into my chatroom and mentioning when and where they saw me. Save it for a PM or an MFC mail.

I'm not an idiot about these kinds of things and I still make sure to protect myself. I don't go telling everyone where I'm from or giving out personal information... But quite frankly, I am just not afraid. Pretty much every person I have had extensive contact with on MFC has been super awesome... as most people are. So, feel free to come say hi anytime and I will never make you feel like a stalker... Well, unless you act like one.

Just like AlexLady, all of my MFC model and member friends really are friends to me.

If it was someone I can recognize, I probably would feel a mix of thrill and fear. I'm slightly paranoid. I get this with ANYONE I recognize from somewhere else. x.x

If it were someone I don't recognize, and don't know, because they've been perving on me in silence the whole time, I'd freak. I get freaked out when someone recognizes me but I don't recognize them.

Thing is, the thing said about internet people being people is exactly right. And I don't treat them any differently. I just don't trust anyone.

Now, a select few (most of the models here, some of the members here, some of the members on mfc), my first reaction would be a mix of "OMG HI! *huggle*" and "please don't tell anyone or I'll never be able to cam again". Then again, most of those I'd have this reaction with already know that. :p

I know a couple of my prems in real life, but I knew them before I started camming. They are just friends who support me with either encouragement or try to get the ball rolling on tip countdowns. :)

But, other than them... others I think I might be a little unnerved and be nervous and not like myself on here. It would be scary, but it might be fun. Really depends on my mood that day.

Would actually be cheaper that way. Since they're nickles that cost a dime to buy.

Hahahaha. Good stuff! Thanks for the giggle. :D

If someone came up to me, I would be all cool, esp if I was with my man, cause he's kinda tall and big and intimidating at times LOL Also if they were just like "Hey Eva" I would do like I used to when I was in our band, the typical semi rockstar "Hey...uhh, You! Whats up!" LOL If they got all creepy I would yell out "Hey arent you CharlieSmallPenis from that one Swedish porn site that was on the news last night?!" and run LOL...or something along those lines. Maybe off to tip em a Benz
