Hello fellow webcam models.

This has probably been asked many times before but I can't find it among all this threads, sorry.
I'm a 20 yo girl thinking of becoming a webcam model and broadcast shows with my boyfriend.
We really need some mone right now and this seemed like a good idea.
My first concern is how can we keep it a secret and/or for how long? I don't really care if most people knew about it but I do really care about my parents find out, specially since I come from a religious family.
Tell me your stories, how many of you keep it a secret from your families and for how long have you being doing it.

Thanks a lot.

Someone will always find out.

Whether it's now or in say ten years. This is not something you can keep secret forever.

If you want a future that would be out of reach if you cam .. .do not cam.

If you aren't worried about being outed or worried about camming stopping your future then it's a great choice. But keep in mind camming isn't easy money. Most cammers have other jobs as well as camming. The money made for most isn't instant. I think almost everyday we hear from someone who is struggling to pay their bills while camming.

Remember that camming may not even directly inhibit your future but the gap in your resume may if all you are doing is camming.

There is no guarantee of privacy in this industry. You can do everything possible to keep it a secret and then have some douchenozzle find you and out you. Someone can accidentally stumble on you. Someone can even find your info and out you without even knowing you. So if it would ruin your life for someone to know be prepared to be outed. Your family may find out now, later, or never but it could happen. I always think in terms it will happen as poopy as that is.

If you will be broadcasting with your boyfriend, I can tell you that MyFreeCams won't be an option for you then, because they do not allow men on cam. I know there are couples webcam categories on Streamate, Chaturbate, ImLive, and Cams.

It's important that you read up on these things and know what you're getting into, because cam models get recorded (and plastered on different sites) all the time, whether they like it or not. I definitely use the geo-blocking feature to block my state, and it has been beneficial for me, but even that isn't a 100% guarantee that people you know won't come across you.

And as far as getting your money quickly, you can consider Katy Boleyn's "Boleyn Models" daily pay service:
http://boleynmodels.com/category/boleynmodels-program/

Also, have you looked into other jobs besides camming? This really isn't easy money, in case that's what you are thinking. Have you considered other work-from-home jobs, or other part-time or full-time jobs outside the home?

We were thinking of chaturbate, I've seen pretty good reviews about it.

I do know it's quite probable for them to discover it. As for the resume I'm not concerde since I'll do it in my college years.
I don't really want a magic soulition to keep it as a total secret, I just wanted to know about other camgirls and camboys to tell me about their experiences. Especially for how long they have been keeping it as a secret or for how long they did it.
Is not that'll destroy my life or anything I just don't want them to know right now.

I agree with Serenity_Tam and Shelly. Some sites have geo-block feature but it's useless if someone uses proxy. You may get recorded and your show will end up on tube sites, your friends or neighbors may find out.

Some of us are lucky and their family accepted the fact that they're part of adult industry. And some got kicked out from house, family members don't want to know them anymore... We will not tell you what to do because you have to choose what's best for you. If you decide to become a cam model, then you have to take the risk.

My family knows but it was 'easier' for me, as we always support each other, no matter what.

Do you consider becoming a sex worker as a part of who you are? If so, think about this: Your an adult now. Do you want your parents to control your life and who you are? I haven't seen my parents in 13 years. Even though I am an adult, my parents are still not allowed to see me because of issues that they have. I still have a fine and happy life and now I don't miss them anymore and almost never think about them. If your parents end their relationship with you'll be fine and you'll get over it. Im not trying to tell you what to do. I'm just giving you advice based on my experience. I know that this post may get a lot of disagrees and facepalm but I just want to be helpful.

Okay, guys. I know that you're just trying to help but maybe I didn't make myself clear.

I am fully aware that this could (and probably) be made public. I'm just asking if it's possible to hide it for a while since I knwo my parents (the rest of the world I don't care about) would not aprove it and I'm still depending on them for many things. I just need to know if I could hide it untill I have some savings and I don't need their financial support.
That's why I'm asking about other people who hide it.

I see similar advice come up a lot on here, in regards to parents and partners ("dump them if they don't respect what you do! If they really loved you they'd be happy for you!"), and I always jump in with the same point because I think it's important to counterbalance.

You said you do care if your parents find out, which means you're giving no indication that you're estranged or dislike them. Personally, I love my family, and they love me, and when they found out I was a sex worker it was a really, REALLY big deal. Lots of crying and drama. But we did eventually move past it and have a much better relationship than we did before. I'd wager overall that even without supporting my sex work, we have a healthier parent-child relationship than a lot of other families that haven't had similar drama.

I'm not controlled by my family just because I value their opinions and value the way they see me. Likewise a camgirl who refrains for doing certain acts because it makes her boyfriend uncomfortable isn't necessarily controlled by him, or giving up something important to be with him. We are a social species, and parents and partners are generally the most important people in our lives, and considering (doesn't necessarily mean deferring to) their input isn't bad.

Everyone has different familial relationships and I understand why many camgirls are estranged or wish they were from their parents. But I do hope anyone who reads the advice above considers their long-term life.

@Notaraccoon There is no clear cut answer to your question. Some girls literally get outed during their first week, some never do, some of us get semi-outed (a member finds out your real name; someone from your town recognizes you and you never know when Either decides to do something with that info). The best answer is if being outed would devastate you, stop before you start and do something else.

You seem to want some sort of timeline of how long you can hide it for.. and we don't know. There are too many factors in play here. Your success level, your earnings, the level of exposure you get, your traffic, the number and type of people you come in contact with on a daily basis, whether or not you attract some crazy stalker... anything could or could not happen once you hit that 'Broadcast' button.

Yes, you can hide it for a while... until your parents find out. Could be 1 day, could be a few weeks, months, or it could be 20 years after you've left the industry. That's the beauty of being naked on the internet. It's all pretty random. (more or less).

If you still depend on your parents for money, I would personally advise against it. You could start camming and making good money to support yourself... but you could also struggle as a model, have your parents finding out and you will have lost your financial safety net. Unless you are ready to cut that safety net from the second you hit 'Broadcast'.. don't cam.

As mentioned already above you cannot control who sees you on the internet, so basicly it is down to luck if you go unnoticed by your parents.....
If you start camming you take your chances

:)

Someone I knew found me on my third shift. I had a VPN, blocked my homestate, and had no social media at the time.

You never know how long you can hide it for. You could be found out on the very first day. My advice is: if you have ANYTHING making you question becoming a sex-worker, don't do it. I'm lucky because I'm open about what I do and don't care who knows it, but I've seen other girls get fucked over royally by being discovered.

Was he outside of your state when it happened?

*she ... and no, she was in my homestate. Just an ex-coworker, wasn't a big deal to me. But it might have been a big deal to others.

As for hiding it, it really depends. I've never been recognized, but then again... I'm often mistaken for other people. Even another cam girl, once.

Some girls get recognized day one, some never get recognized. I'd say the only way to not get recognized is to have absolutely no birth marks, blemishes, moles, abnormalities on your body, and never show your face. :) But that doesn't really make much money. :)

You can take steps, like using a VPN, lying about your life on cam, wearing a wig, wearing clothes you'd never normally wear, wearing makeup to reconstruct your face, blocking your city/state/country, camming from a room NO ONE is allowed to enter, and heck even adding an accent. :) But can you realistically do all of those things? Some girls can, but can YOU? Ask yourself if you can live a double life.

Even if you do all of these things there's still a chance someone will find out it's you. But I honestly think they can help, at least delaying the most likely inevitable.

Honestly, I think if you take proper measures the odds of you being found out so quickly aren't big. Especially by your parents. (Unless there is someone you know out there who wants to hurt you.) But they do exist, like some have said. So you have to really ask yourself if that is worth it. And have options other than camming. You said you relied on your parents a bit. I personally think you should hold off any online sex work if you rely on your parents.

Maybe try stuff like Ebay or something. :)

Also, remember camming is a lifelong thing. In the sense that it's always going to be something in your past. You could be 80 then finally have this thing you did 60 years ago creep back up on you and you need to be able to accept that.

I'm sorry if I sound a little incoherent I'm sick, but I hope this helps.

Sorry to hear that your sick.

Also I want to add if you're considering chaturbate be wary.

I got recorded on every site I was on but chaturbate was by far the worst. And I got recognized on it the most. Maybe it's due to the high traffic and public shows idk..but since I switched to a private based site I deal with less of that (although that doesn't eliminate the risk) The shows I did with my boyfriend on cb 100% of the time would be recorded and uploaded right after, so yeah it's a forever deal. All it can take is one person recognizing you not from just seeing you on cam but seeing something uploaded on pornhub. I was on the front page of xhamster or xvideos can't remember which and I'm sure someone must have recognized me on a mainstream porn site like that.

There is no time frame at all to determine how long you can successfully hide it. Your parents may or may not find out--but there's a big risk that will remain for years even after you quit-- if it's too much I wouldn't do it.

It's most likely due to the extremely high traffic. Chaturbate is the 7th most visited pornographic website in the world, with 117 million visits per month. http://thenextweb.com/insider/2016/...en-behind-the-worlds-largest-porn-sites/#gref

So it happend to me after 4 years (including 2 years break). I just googled my name and found automatic recordings of my ALL shows on CB. My first thought was 'I'd picked up better thumbnails'. Gotta live with... And maybe fill the DMCA form :)

I cammed in college thinking I would quit after I graduated. I graduated and still don't want to get away from it. Even with a good college degree the pay for me is not even a comparison. I would not be getting paid minimum wage either. Some serious things to consider other than privacy as stated previously- how are your loans and grants working out? How old are you? I have seen many times girls coming here in college without considering taxes. If your parents are claiming you as a dependent still they will most definitely find out because you have to talk to their tax preparer/hand over your 1099-misc to them. I bet they will ask what mfcxy or chaturbate inc. or whatever is. A simple google search will tell them all they need to know. If you are getting any fafsa money while considered a dependent under them then yes, camming is not a good choice if you don't want them to know.

This. I almost never got recorded, or at least uploaded when I was solo. Every single b/g show I've done I have found very shortly afterwards. Even if we weren't doing anything.

I just also wanted to mention that whether or not you do get found out, the agony of never knowing when you will be discovered (if you ever do) can be enough to cause you all kinds of stress.

On top of that, even if you decide to quit camming, keep in mind recordings, pictures and/or videos will be on the internet forever.
