Because the only way you can work for any cam site as a model and only a model with no legal worries is under a studio. It is the studio owners responsibility to be compliant with all the current laws and legal requirements to be in this business.

There are the greedy models that want to make all the money and be their own studio and keep 100% (WHICH IS FINE) but what they do not realize is they are required by federal law to be compliant with all the laws, and have a paper trail for any shoot they do with nudity (photos and video) and have to keep it on file for up to 7 years. Part of the law is being a custodian of records. You will learn about this when you contact a adult industry lawyer. (SOME MODELS I AM SURE ARE KEEN TO THIS, MOST HAVE NO CLUE)

In this day and age where models on the cam sites are making over 10-100k per month, you can bet it is going to have the department of justices attention and adult industry audits will be coming soon. If you are not working for a studio and working on your own they will come to your house, you will have to let them in and take them to your files and show them your paperwork, files with videos, photos, and everything needs to be organized a SPECIFIC way.

as far as 2257 comes into play, at least with the big 3, MFC has this on their own wiki:

so, saying you need to work with a studio to be in compliance with 2257 is erroneous at best. Like Audri said, reputable sites will have a 2257 disclosure agreement you have to sign in order to broadcast. MFC keeps records and copies of your work to be compliant with 2257.

It's not even remotely difficult to be legal and compliant, especially in the US, in fact it would take about as much extra time and effort that signing up under a studio would. The camsites cover all of those things when you sign up under them for live camming, but if you are making videos you should be rocking 2257's. If you film with other performers, don't forget the paperwork. You can print them out from the internet

As someone who is giving out legal advice, even if it is free and unsolicited, it is your primary responsibility to behave in an appropriate manner and to ensure that any advice is in accordance with the law, you have ethical responsibilities to make sure what you say is accurate. Of course anyone who did not get their law degree from a cereal packet would know this.

I googled and did some reading. I am hoping for a somewhat condensed version to get a general idea to begin with. I gather it involves keeping copies of the actual videos, but I would like to educate myself on whether there is actually any paperwork to accompany the videos as well. Oh and btw I am in Canada, and I don't know if that involves any additional work.

I am quite confident that with the right information, any camperson should be able to be compliant independently.
