Hey there, i started working on MFC last month and i have a problem regarding my bank. (I'm from Canada).

After i got my first paycheck from MFC my bank called me because they were holding the funds, i told them i am self employed and they said they updated in my bank account information and i was able to access my first paycheck.

Now on my second paycheck they held the money again, called me and said they need more information about what i am exactly doing. Like many models suggested before i should just list myself as a internet affiliate marketeer (which i told them). Now they want to know what exactly i am selling/advertising and want to know who i am advertising for as well as lots of other information about the "company".

If i wont come up with that information shortly they will just send the funds back to MFC (and these will probably be lost?)

I was already planning to change banks after this months last paycheck but i will change banks right after i get the funds that are being held right now.

I just need quick help about how i should go on about this now, should i just show them my webcam model contract and tell them the truth then change banks ?

(I made quite ALOT in these 2 weeks and i dont want to lose the money in any means)

I was thinking about contacting them, where can i find their number ? I only found pages to E-Mail them.

Thank you

I would head in there and ask to speak to the manager personally. I would then ask him why exactly the funds are being held. Depending on his answer would depend on what you tell them. Its your account, and its legal tender, they cant just hold things like that. If you have to tell them what you do simply stick to the fact you're an affiliate. You post links on websites, forums, etc for traffic for websites. They do not need to know who and what kind of sites. If they give you any shit tell them flat out it does not matter. If youre not getting anywhere with them by being sweet, nice, and cute, get offended. Act like its preposterous that they would need to know personal work info on you for something as simple as depositing a check. Its none of their business. If they still wont budge after this id get down right rude, as theyre being rude to you. I would tell them its none of their business. A check is a check. And if they refuse to put this one through then by all means deny it, and inform them your account will be closed immediately. Then go open on at another bank right then. Update your MFC info and contact them to let them know that they need to resend the deposit, or check instead as your bank denied that one. Once you hear from MFC that its okay and theyre reissuing things i would go back to the bank and close your old account. Fuck them.

Sorry they can, it's called the Canadian Bank Act. Every bank in Canada can have a hold policy (can go on-line or request a copy of the policy) on how, why and how long they can hold funds being transferred into your account from outside their bank (i.e. payroll company to bank, private company to bank, etc.). They do this to ensure that the company/person transferring the money actually has the money to give before it is transferred; you agree to it when you sign up for an account. Hold policies are bank specific and are usually anywhere from 2 to 10 business days depending on where the funds are coming from.

I used to be an independent consultant who worked for various companies all over North America and usually had issues with start-ups and companies that deal with privately held financing (like VC's financing the company rather than the company its self). I deal with a major Canadian bank and had several sets of funds held for 2 weeks because the company I did work for at the time was only in business for 3 months before I started, was in Arizona and they had a huge amount of funding to back them from a private investor.

Another problem is she is acting suspicious about her job and the bank as every right to question the validity of the source of funds because the funds could be through illegal activities, they are only protecting their interests.

However there probably will always be a hold since the funds are coming from outside the country (again this just might be your banks policy).

If the bank does give you grief or they seem to discriminate based on your job then you can file a complaint with the FCAC (Financial Consumer Agency of Canada).

Also on a side note why do models actually lie about what they do to the IRS/CRA/etc. or the bank, to me it would be easier to tell the truth yes / no?

There is no reason to lie or obfuscate what you do, it is not illegal. You are dealing with a bank, they are professional I would presume. There are laws that limit what personal information they can give out about you, which is essentially none unless you give them permission.

I can understand being embarrassed to tell a complete stranger what you do for a living when there is a stigma attached, by society, to that type of work. I can only suggest to not to worry about it, the people at the bank do not care what you do. They have their own rules and regulations to follow is why they are asking. :twocents-02cents:

I don't, though living in the south and dealing with extremely judgmental tellers who gossip LOUDLY as soon as I leave the bank are pretty good reasons to consider lying to the bank. When I fill out my taxes everything else is listed a 'Adult model' or something of that nature. :twocents-02cents:

I don't know about anyone else, but I lie because people talk. If I go into my bank and have to tell one person what I do, there's a good chance that they're going to tell someone or try to figure it out on their own time. I'm not comfortable having people in my real life knowing what I do as they don't understand that they're a potential threat to my safety. Plus, it's really not relevant for them to know what exactly it is that I do, so long as my checks don't bounce and I remain a good customer.

We have the same laws in the states. Most actual paper checks are held for a period of time, but if the money is being direct deposited or wired to the account, there's not really a reason to withhold funds.

Also, remember that many models are young; a young woman who is relying on her parents for housing could find herself homeless or disowned if her parents found out what's up.

I am 20; my parents have limited access to my bank account (they can see transactions to my savings and deposit money). If I deposited a camming check to my savings account, my parents could easily find out what I'm up to. Likewise, because my parents still have that access, they could also find out what I told the bank I was doing for a living. If my tax returns were sent to my parent's house by mistake, that's a similar problem. If I put my camming history on my job application at the restaurant where I also work, and my mom or dad stopped by, I could just imagine a manager running up to tell them, "wow, it's great that you were so supportive of your daughter while she was doing porn!"

While I am not financially relying on my parents for anything, it is still important to me to keep this part of my life private from them. The fact of the matter is that in many situations, information that should be private is not private, and in many situations if people found out what we did for a living, we would be abused, ostracized, or discriminated against. Does anyone remember that model who had to fight for custody of her kids in court after her family found out what she did?

I lie because people are unkind, prejudiced and cruel.

I personally- see what I do as having absolutely nothing wrong with it.

But still, nobody I know knows what I do except my husband.

And the other night when we were watching the client list even he made this comment "This is good for you to watch. Remember it's a slippery slope".

So prejudice comes from even the people who support us and whom we love.

Needless to say he was in the doghouse after that one.

I'll be depositing my first cheque here in the UK tomorrow.

I'll let you all know how it goes!

I am pretty sure this gossiping things happens to me, too, although they at least try to do so quietly, in a professional manner lol! I just say I'm self-employed when filling anything out, and any questions I get I answer with "online sales" and if they keep pressing I stay as vague as possible and hopefully they get the idea I'm not going to answer their questions.
It's not lying as we really are self-employed and they really don't need to know anything more than that for most purposes. Usually people are just being nosey.

I find it fascinating that the same reasons people try to hide what they do are the same reasons people gave for not coming out as being homosexual. I honestly hope that eventually, like homosexuality, society will become more tolerant. It is amazing to me how quickly the debate on gay marriage is changing for the positive. I did not think I would see it in my lifetime.

That being said, I still feel that you really don't have to worry about the people at the bank. The laws are similar to doctor patient confidentiality and between lawyers and clients. I know it is cold comfort for the rare instance that someone might give out your personal information but you do have recourse if they do.

Even if someone didn't specifically give out our bank info, knowing what we do gives them the ability to put the pieces together and potentially do some damage. I see posts all the time where girls are having their real information plastered all over the place and the last thing we want/need is for that to happen. Sure, we could probably take action if something happened, but by then it's too late.

Yeah, I'm a little paranoid about it but in this business you have to be.

The problem with relying on the laws against it is twofold.

First- the person being told has to know about the law, and actually respect the fact that it is a law.

Second- the law can't do anything about it until the other person breaks the law.

So, if the person doesn't know about the law, or just decides to break it anyway, there's a couple ways this could play out.

1. Banker decides to out the model in her chatroom.
2. Banker tells a friend, who tells a friend, who tells a friend. Now the whole town knows. If she's lucky, it doesn't do more than give her bad looks everywhere, and shitty service. If she's not lucky, her info is plastered all over the internet. If she's actively unlucky, someone decides that since she strips for a living, she won't mind a little late-night-fun, and when she denies him that, he takes it from her because she's "just a whore".

Now that the damage has been done, the law can do something about it, but it's too late. The model already has to deal with either a stalker, or a rapist, or both.

No, better to keep my mouth shut about it.

I've had friends and family who worked in banks and some (not all) bank tellers particularly in small towns are some of the biggest gossips I've ever met. Obviously there are confidentiality clauses, but them being enforced when it comes to individuals who might have a limited ability to bring legal action and prove who told people what they do is unlikely. It's probably not as bad in big cities, but in small towns where I've lived the tellers talked to all the local shopkeepers when they did their banking, all the locals who came in when they were getting married/divorced to change their accounts, and sooner or later everyone knows your business. Like Luna says, it only takes one person with a big mouth and suddenly you discover a whole lot of people know something about you you'd rather they didn't. Better to be paranoid than outed against your will.
