I wouldn't trust this bird. It's clearly plotting something.
It's an airbrushing Vanessa, but I can see it does look like it could be a tat.
As promised, here's the thing. Reposting the sketch, to show the whole process.
I really didn't like the shadow, so I simplified the background. Process!
It's amazing to see how Sketching is always relevant, and that even if the end result is digital, the idea begins with a pencil and a drawing block. Awesome posts Zippy!
Thanks. I've tried to work fully digitally, but it doesn't work for me. I need to work out ideas on physical, actual paper. I guess I need physical constraints when working out compositions at first. Then, I can move on, and refine the images digitally.

I hear you. I cant work digitally at all. I feel like it's too hard to establish the same level of connection i have with paper/clay/fabric/wood.
Working digitally makes a lot of sense for something like cartooning, I think, since the end results are generally meant to be digitized in some capacity, anyway. I was really really stubborn about hanging on to physical media, even in that realm, but I've finally come around. I still deal in real ink and paint plenty, though, so it's not as if I have to choose between one sort of medium or the other.
I'm working on a look for fellas that corresponds well with the way I'm drawing cartoon ladies. I don't think I'm fully there, but I'm okay with the direction I'm headed.
