at the end of the day, cam work is liberating because YOU are in control, loving yourself shamelessly, and anyone who tries to use it against you is just a piece of shit that shouldn't be paid any mind. I wish back then I had been able to say "fuck you, so what?" instead of begging him not to do anything. yes, there are sometimes real world consequences like losing your job, having a falling out with your family, etc. because of exposed cam work. these are the risks that must always be assessed. but at the end of the day, no one can take your freedom of expression and autonomy.

This This This! I love it. :h: This generally how I feel about it. Will people take me at a different face value or possibly discriminate against me because of my work choices? Possibly. Probably even. The ultimate question is how many fucks do I honestly give? Not enough to give up my freedom, creativity, and ability to be my own boss.

:h: exactly! hahaha I don't have any fucks left to give in this lifetime for people who are ultimately misguided and wrong about their judgments of me. besides, I have way more autonomy with camwork than I EVER did at any of my other jobs. how many businesses exploit their employees and force them to perform tasks they don't necessarily want to do? with cam work, I'm always in total control of my consent.

The way I see it, there are thousands of us cam models out here! it's who you are, it's what you do, its your profession. Own it, love it, and don't judge yourself for it. It is what it is. I have thought about the day when my parents find out about what I'm doing and I tell myself this, the important thing is that I have to do me, I can't be concerned about their feelings (may sound harsh) but I have my reasons why I am in this and nothing is going to stop me!!

Agreed. This is one of the stark, unchangeable realities of camming. Like all good things (that is, camming is potentially very lucrative and enjoyable), there is a compromise therein. When you decide to cam/model, you are essentially "signing" a social contract with the world that you understand your privacy can and very well may be compromised. Even using a VPN and playing it smart cannot prevent this from happening. Sure, some models get lucky, but you should never bank on it, because the statistics are *not* in your favor.

While I value my privacy, I am 1) self-employed and on a career trajectory that would be less affected were someone to 'discover' my model identity, and 2) I have a very liberal attitude toward sex culture and don't really care that much about someone I know finding out. I mean, obviously I'd prefer to keep my anonymity, but I'm not going to cry the day that someone I know shows up in my room or determines where I live. I made that choice, and I own it.

That said, I have had tons of fans easily figure out my city. Typically, they are respectful of my privacy and keep it to themselves.

Most of us (myself at least) can't afford to worry about being outed. Honestly, I don't care if my naughtiest show goes viral. It's my job. And yes, haha, I freaked out when I found out bots(?) record even my most boring public chats. I learned to stop caring, quickly! Life is too short, and I'm not popular enough to go viral. haha.

That said, a sort of play on a Jim Carrey "quote".. "If you can't handle the risks, then Stop being a camwhore!"

This isn't the type of job, that you can keep secret. It's all over the internet! (FOREVER!!!) Plus, many people watch porn. I kind of want to respond with "Ewww, you watch porn? Well, there's NO way that was me! :p "
Although that's a buncha B.S. Heh.

Truly, this is a lifestyle. Be careful, yes. But don't think there is any way to keep it a secret! And you'll do fine! :)

XoXo! :)

I had been camming and living at my parents house for a couple years when one night I left my computer open and I had been editing an interracial gangbang that I sold as a meth gangbang because it was the first and last time I ever did meth. Anyways that's besides the point, my mom found and saw the video and immediately kicked me out of the house making me homeless. But I tell you what it ended up being the best thing that's ever happened to me because it would have fire under my ass to start hustling like a mother fucker. I quit doing drugs and focus completely on my business and saw my profits go up to a very large amount so I guess it was a blessing and a curse I got found out.

I do have a real life career and it would be a shame if they found out what I do privately but oh well. I know plenty of porn stars who have safely transitioned into real life.

Totally agree with what you're saying, know what you're getting yourself in for but is it just me who is bugged by the excessive use of 'camwhore' in this?...or is that just a common term on this forum :wondering:

"Cam whore" was meant to be a jovial term of endearment, not disrespect. Camming community vernacular was a bit different in 2010 than it is today. Also I spent a bit too much time on 4chan, where the term was popular.

My apologies to anyone who is offended by the dated, un-woke terminology.

I apologize too for calling us camwhores. However, I will likely use the term again, because a lot of people call us camwhores. People will call us that not intending to harm, or intending to harm. It slightly bugged me at first. But I can't afford to be bothered by things like that. Same thing with the "B" word. I used to be so deeply hurt by that word. Now 99 times out of 100, I couldn't care less.

Life is so short! We must choose our battles wisely! *Conserve Energy!* :)

Cam girls are the wave of the sex-positive future the whole world is in desperate need of. If you're ever found out, and you lose relationships over it, then congratulations you've successfully weeded out those in your life who don't deserve you. Let em go on with their sad little sex-deprived lives.

Carnal pleasures are just as sacred as every rock and tree and creature!

Yep, camming caused the crack that spread in my last relationship and I'm so glad that I ended it! I had no idea about all the shitty awful opinions he had about sex work before then. And the nasty things he said to me when I told him. He was also the most vanilla person ever. My regulars even nicknamed him Mr. Vanilla! My partner now fits me so much better than Mr. Vanilla. Good riddance.

When I first found this thread, panic ran through me. I wasn't sure if I was okay with being on the internet forever. What if this person found me? What are they going to think? My family? That uncle that lives in a different state who I never talk to anyway but oh, god, what if he sees me?

I believe that if you can watch porn and get any type of enjoyment from it, then trash the people making it, that you have an issue. Not them. Any hate that anyone has to say about me, from finding me, is an issue they need to take up with themselves! If you find me and feel uncomfortable, then don't watch! Mind ya business. Let me live my life.
Contradicting motherfuckers wanna watch porn but god forbid it's your wife, daughter, niece, cousin, or ya grandma.

Anyway, I made the decision that if anyone finds me it'll be a in or out situation. Either they respect me and are in my life or they're out.
You either live in fear or own it. Ima own it.

Edit to add: the only thing that scares me about anyone from my personal life finding me, is them "outting" me and revealing personal information. but I know that's how life is, people are assholes, just gotta roll with it and be as safe as I can.

Agreed. Be proud of what you do. This community is here to have your back and remind you - on those tough days where you may doubt yourself - that this industry requires hard fucking work to be successful. The skill-set that most successful cam-models and adult industry workers have are skill-sets that are highly coveted in the fastest growing job markets in the world. If you remove the stigma, the skillsets we have are more desirable than those of anyone else: the best of us know our shit when it comes to marketing, branding, building a business, handling clients, handling taxes and finances, advertising, social media/SEO, et cetera.

As for being outed: I would never sit here and tell you "who cares about privacy" - we should always take extra measures to ensure privacy and security - BUT I will offer a bit of consolation: 'outing' a cam-model or adult worker is a sure-fire way for mutually-assured destruction. E.g. If some guy finds me on a cam-site, and he wants to go tell everyone...well guess what? HE most likely was on a gay cam-site looking at guys!!!

If some guy wants to out you - especially a family member - it begets the question..."What was he doing looking at porn in the first place??"

It's a good incentive for anyone with a modicum of intelligence to keep their mouth shut.

My thoughts are... if someone stumbles across me in any sort of sexual place...they are there for sexualness things anyway... can't judge me one something they are doing... and if it's somewhere else... oh well, that's what I get for being a public whore

In the beginning I was worried about being discovered, and I’ve taken precautions to try avoid it. I’m not try to advertise it openly in my daily life, but I’m also not worried about it anymore either. I mean think about it. If my uncle or cousin or my dad’s best friend happens to stumble upon me, what are they going to do or say? Nothing most likely. They’ll be too embarrassed to even attempt to bring it up to me, let alone my other family members. “Uh yeah, so I happened to be searching live porn cams & came across your adult daughter”. Lol. Not happening. They’d be outing themselves which would probably be far more embarrassing to them then to me. Also I used to feel like whenever I’d go to a grocery store or some place that I was getting “recognized”. Not likely, just newbie paranoia. Possible? Maybe. But I’m pretty sure I’d just be making that guys day. And he’s not going to have the balls to approach me & ask. But if he did....heck yes it’s me! Want me to sign your shirt? Lol. I love what I do & enjoy it fully. No shame in my game.

Models. You need to realize this right now. ANY time you put something on the internet, it is there FOREVER. It can never be eliminated, and eventually it will be found by someone who you'd rather not find it.

For example, any time you are on cam, you should assume that images or videos of that cam show will be recorded and put on the internet forever. I'm talking private shows, group shows, and ESPECIALLY public shows. It's already the case that MFC owns the rights to all of said imagery and video, and can do with it what they like.

You may not like it when members record your shows and upload them to different places on the internet, and you can try hard to get those images taken down. Sometimes you may find that you are even successful with getting an instance of something taken down. But the truth is, once it's out there it is impossible to fully retract. All it takes is one person to have saved a copy of it before it got taken down, and it can be reposted again. There is jack shit you can do about it, so it is not worth your time trying to take it down. It will only delay the inevitable, and could in fact speed it up by pissing people off and making them post it more.

A lot of models use location-block in order to block people from their hometown and surrounding area from seeing them. This is a decent short-term solution, but in the end, it's pointless. There is absolutely no way to guarantee that people from your home town will never find out. All it takes is one time for someone you know from real life to be travelling out of state and see you online, or see your pictures. It is also easy for technically-savvy people to use a proxy to get around location blocks. The point is, location block is only a temporary solution, and there are ways around it. You will be found out. It is only a matter of time.

Let's say you're super lucky, and during your several-year stint as a camwhore, you are never found by someone you know in real life. You think you're off the hook? Along with all the imagery MFC has recorded of you and could sell at any point in time, you can bet that random members (and guests!) have taken lots of imagery too. It will be on the internet forever. 40 years down the road, your kids will stumble across naked pictures and videos of you on the internet. It's going to happen. This is reality, and there is nothing you can do to change it.

The point? If you don't want your friends and family to find out you're a camwhore, then don't become a camwhore. Don't want your grandkids to see videos of you anally fisting yourself? Then don't become a camwhore. Don't want the local authorities to find out you're a camwhore? I think I'm becoming redundant here.

Do you think your real-life identity is secret? All it takes is ONE person you know from real life to find you on MFC and leak your identity. It's going to happen eventually. Hopefully it won't happen for a while, but you need to be prepared for the day when it does happen, because mark my words, it will.

Once something is on the internet, it is there forever. Making an attempt to change that fact only makes you look stupid.
Yeah all that stands, we all know, some of us.probably posted loads of shit online or free before (i idid) and most of my friends know and they're supportive, my folks don't but they're older and not online too much... Just curious, if this is supposed to be a supportive post, why are you calling girls whores?

Keep an eye on post dates when you're replying. This post is like 8 years old I think... he's not really around anymore to reply.

Also not all of us are offended by the term camwhore.

I went through a weird up and down fear of being outed. I didn't even realize when I first started that there'd be a chance of being outed, I just threw myself in head first and ended up loving it. Only around last year close to my one year anniversary of doing this did the fear and realization actually hit me. By that point I'd already built up a huge profile. Now I'm back to just not caring. If it happens, I'll deal with the situation because at this point I've made my bed.

honestly i was considering camming for years before i started, and the only thing holding me back was the stigma, i grew up very conservative christian. but the great thing about having a conservative christian family is that i can be 99% sure none of them would even consider looking at porn sites, therefore the people who would judge me most are the least likely to find out. but, even if they did, then it's their choice whether they want to be in my life or not. if they don't like that i do this, then fuck them.

i absolutely love this job, it's so incredibly freeing and i wouldn't trade it for the world. so i don't give one flying fuck if anyone finds out, the important people know and if anyone else decides to judge me on it, then that's on them.

I completely agree with the post however over a few months I've noticed a huge lack of sympathy from members.
There's a lot of stigma in this line of work, since we're on a screen so often I feel like people forget that we have lives where we go outside, take the buss, buy groceries, do ya know .. normal things? These 'internet truths' are easy to say but members have never felt the fear of being recognized, the conflict you feel when the world is telling you that you have no morals, that you're absolutely worthless and have nothing to offer the world .. all because you decided to monetize your own body in a world that does it for free?

When you decide to be a cam model you know these truths but experiencing them is very different. this is a bit of a pointless post but I just feel like sometimes members need the reminder that they will never truly know what this stigma feels like.

yes the internet is forever but i'd rather my pussy plastered all over the place then have racist tweets floating around TBH

Anybody ever feel paranoid about trolls who make dumb comments or insinuations about you cramming could be a relative or someone you know? I keep trying to remind myself that if they knew me in real life they would probably just reach out to me directly as well to find out what the tea is...am I alone in this feeling? 2nd wk camming

I laugh when they say it. My mom had 10 brothers & sisters. I have 78 cousins & second cousins. Most of my cousins are super open minded. But I GUARANTEE you that if they stumbled upon my cam room they’d be too embarrassed of THEMSELVES to say anything in my room. Now someone I know that’s not related to me, they would be more likely to say something to me in person, not in my room.
Those trolls are just trying to rattle you & see if they can get a reaction. Don’t even give them the satisfaction.
