I was kind of disappointed that Paul Zerdin won America's Got Talent. He had some great moments - walking off the stage and the puppet keeps talking - but I feel like people voted for him because his humor was bland and safe.
Hands down winner, in my book, should have been the Professional Regurgitator. Dude swallowed combustible gas, blew it into a soap bubble and ignited it! Not to mention the tacks, coins, lightbulb, etc. And the deal with putting the lock on the ring was incredible. I suspect he may actually be an illusionist, rather than a regurgitator, but still brilliant. I cannot believe he wasn't even in the top 3.
I thought Drew, the stuttering comic, definitely should have been second. He was hilarious each and every time...that bit about the talking service dog and the cat with Tourette's was funny as fuck.
Didn't really care for Oz Pearlman as a person, but there was no denying his performances were uniformly superb. Especially predicting Mel B's drink of choice, and the thing with the colored chairs. I'm sure that was all done with some simple technology, but just the way he pulled it off was outstanding.
My biggest disappointment: Piff the Magic Dragon. Clever tricks, sharp, dry wit and that fucking costume. Definitely had him pegged to take it all from his first performance. But damn, he was so inconsistent. And that last one was so weak, I felt embarrassed for him. Don't know what happened. I just hope he scores big in the future.
Can't believe I'm saying this, but I will miss Howard Stern.
