Part of the reason of Trump's popularity, and infighting from Republican establishment, is because he's puts the minor social issues that conservatives have allowed to dominate their public image, on the back burner, where they belong.

The other part is corruption. There's a difference between corporatism and capitalism. Corporatism is a result of corrupted policies from both parties that have decimated the American Economy. The Republican politicians that have benefitted the most from this, are the same one's afraid of him. It's not a bad thing.

I think Trump is also popular because he puts America and Americans first. President of any country should do that. Seriously you either have a country or you don't. Just like he said.
Is like you either have a family or a home or you don't.
I don't get that vibe from Hillary at all. She seems to be very into her bank accounts and whatever else she has going - probably none of it good for ppl. Bernie I felt truly disliked USA and what it stands for and I found that scary. Obama seems to have little interest about what is going on in both USA and the world with exception his few pet projects. I first noticed his lack of interest when there was the gulf spill and it took him month plus to make the trip there and he looked bored. I am sure there is a lot I don't know about behind the scenes but I do know that only Trump speaks with love and passion about USA. It awakens something in people who love the country.it awakens something in people who hate the country. I think Kennedy was simililar in his passion.

Btw trump is also liked by ppl outside USA who recognize a leader who protects country. Just like ppl like victor orban. a leader like that makes ppl excited about a country and respect it more.

I was impressed with Trump's acceptance speech. He inspired confidence in his knowledge of economic principles and his plan in strengthening our country. He also demonstrated he is not the racist and sexist person that some paint him to be. I agree that night he definitely put America and Americans first. Before and after that, he has killed himself with his poor choice of words and his "don't give a shit" attitude. It has been careless and the MSM loves to report about it at every turn. He needs to be more the man we saw at the convention for people to begin taking him seriously again. I also agree that Hillary cares more about herself than anything else. She will put herself and her interests ahead of anything else. Because of her lust for power and control, a Hillary presidency would be embroiled in scandal and controversy her entire term. This has been her history dating back to the Nixon hearings.

Any of his full length speeches show he's not a fool or even that much of a dick. He says some over the top things, but he say A LOT of things, and those are the pieces that get snipped.

I'll take 4 years of "Trumpisms" over the other potential.

Also seems Hillary Clinton has supposedly changed her stance on TPP, and copied Trump a bit just to pander. What a load.

and this is fairly amusing, related to the Obama/Isis thing.

You can't like Trump if you understand math and economics. All of his ideas are awful and shows that he is a political and economic neophyte.

He really doesn't get trade and doesn't get that his ideas would start a trade war. He probably doesn't understand the strategy that capital intensive nations like the US must play. He doesn't understand geopolitics. He doesn't get our strategic alliances. He really doesn't get much about how politics, economics, geopolitics, the constitution, the Geneva convention or any ish that you would expect a president to know!

Someone up above claimed that leaders outside of the US like Trump-- BIG LOL. Most leaders of major countries are against him save for Putin, who only wants him because he knows that Trump is a political puppy and that they financially own him.

He hasn't presented a single policy idea or plan that carries any water.

He is for dumb ppl and those who are misguided by his hot air on trade and immigration. He is fool's gold for fools.

annnd we're back to the anyone inspired by anything he has to say is merely gullible/naive... ok terrific...

at least get more creative about it!! brooklyn bridge hardee har har

That's why I've refrained from saying anything in this thread until now because I'm honestly baffled. He very clearly only cares about himself. He sure as hell doesn't care about this country. It's against his self interest. Sure, he might say something inspiring, I guess, but like you said, he says a lot of things.

Anybody who thinks Trump gives a shit about anybody but himself, I've got a bridge to sell to you.
His kids are very together , happy and many ppl mentioned extra nice. Even Ben Carson remarked his family is very warm and just the way his kids are they appear to come from a healthy loving environment. Being a good dad is who he is so he must care about someone beside himself. Ah anyway will not be buying a bridge from you cause your icon is scary lol.

Children are often seen as an extension of oneself. I don't find this particularly remarkable. As far as my icon being scary, I find Trump's words scary.

If you really think the only issue people have with Trump is that he "said mean things" you haven't been listening.

When that happens children end up really messed up.
Btw Ben Carson is a doctor. He is into this stuff and very observant. I don't think he is president material cause one needs neves of steel for that and a shark mode and he is not a tough guy. But I found him to be incredibly intuitive and observant with his remarks seeing beyond the obvious and I would not just ignore that so brought his remark as an example of trump the caring guy even though I have other examples.

Ben Carson also believes the Egyptian pyramids were built as grain silos.

We still don't know how the pyramids were build.
Anything is just speculation. There are plenty of ideas out there.
However one cannot dispute that trump kids have a caring father a lifetime of making time for them not a minute in front of cameras.

Looking like a good parent =/= being a good person, a caring person or a good leader. I know lots of people who care about their kids that are awful, uncaring people.

Not sure if I agree with this or not but is definitely interesting food for thought.
But I wrote that about his kids in response to someone sayin that trump only cares about himself and no one else - being a good father means putting things aside once in a while and putting self second or third .
But I also noticed trump gave up stuff already so he could focus on the country his own fav things he did so far the apprentice , his ties were dropped at Macy's and miss universe and some other stuff he loves and own money he pours into campaign. He seems to leave a lot of his stuff behind on the path to becoming president stuff that was very much his life before.

No, but they now have some pretty good ideas.

True... someone who sacrifices fortune out of pocket and future business ventures for public service Vs.
Someone who somehow has turned a career in public service into a fortune....

hmmm... who to... pick... who to... pick...

Way late to this but I will go in this order.

CNN <--- IS A BUSINESS
NY Times <--- IS A BUSINESS
Huffington Post <--- IS A SHITTY BUSINESS

Hillary Clinton <--- IS OWNED BY THEIR MASTERS

If we have such an 'open' and 'free' press how come siri only suggests NYTimes and CNN on your iPhone? How come there is no way to set it to what you want to see?
Why does Facebook only 'trend' articles from the three previously mentioned sources? Wouldn't it make sense to give the population a balanced view of the news? Maybe Reuters, BBC, WSJ, Financial Times, shit there are dozens of them that you will never see in the trending section. That's all designed to convince people that they should elect HRC. None of these outlets are covering her well-documented abuses while Secretary of State, or other mishandlings. How come it's so difficult for people to see that she was BROKE when Bill/Hillary left office and now they are worth $150 MILLION? The best investors in the world couldn't make that return on his pension and her salary. WHERE DID THE MONEY COME FROM??

#NeverEVERClinton.

Go watch 'Clinton Cash' if you are unsure about her.

Perfect world I would have voted Kasich. Used to respect Bernie, but he is a total sell-out and a giant hypocrite, typical of congress.

Johnson/Ward would be awesome in Congress because in the 'body' of US government, it is Congress, not the president that, is the stage 5 cancer.

The independents won't get elected and will put this election dangerously close to Hillary. Who is voting for Hillary given all the facts? I have no fucking clue but those people exist.

The media has never been so biased against an outsider for the presidency. You know why? No outsider has ever come so close to winning.

Again go watch 'Clinton Cash' all of that is verifiable elsewhere.

most polls are garbage.

The comparisons to Kennedy and Reagan are interesting because neither of them were projected to win either. Kennedy beat Nixon in a very close race. And though Reagan won in a landslide, public support was not solidified until the end of the debates in October.

The Presidential debates haven't even started and people are making predictions... Idk if you've ever paid any attention to Hillary in a debate, but she's pretty bad at it. Obama destroyed her in 08. She's not quick enough on her feet plus now there's the addition of her record as SOS being terribad. Can't see how she's going debate her way out of that.

.
Yeah! Actually I read that some ppl were embarrassed to admit they r voting Reagan until after he won.
I heard that some in Hollywood are afraid to come put that they r trump supporter and voting for him. so many are silent but somehow trump won in majority of states? Lol

My favourite podcaster, Dan Carlin, also likened this election to the Reagan-Carter election. Reagan (Trump) was seen as a crazy outsider wild card who people legit were arguing could cause World War 3 with his cowboy-like diplomacy, but the other choice was Carter, the old guard president representing the establishment who had his chance and was considered a "failure president", the Iran hostage fiasco really destroyed his image.

Another even better example was McGovern (Trump) vs Nixon (Hillary). McGovern was seen as a wild card that could threaten the United States if he won, and also was seen as an outsider that could change things, albeit a socialist outsider (many outright believed he was a communist). Nixon on the other hand was seen as the status-quo candidate who is even less like-able and trustworthy then Hillary. It was a suspected crook with a lot of experience vs a "crazy" wildcard socialist outsider.

Both McGovern and Reagan fought an uphill battle against their respective party, similar to Trump and were put against an untrustworthy candidate.

I guess that's the problem with a two-party system, it's almost always the lesser of two evils and every few elections you can't even tell who is the worst.

Was he really considered that much worse? I feel like they are on par with corruption Hillary has just been getting away with hiding it more? for some unbeknownst reason?
Ironic tidbit of History! Nixon had to turn in his resignation to then Secretary of State(and notorious war criminal) Henry Kissinger, who currently endorses Hillary Clinton. How is that scuzzoid still alive and ticking? he's like in his 90's... she should disavow bahaha...oh but of course she wouldn't because they're actually like BFF's that have frequently vacationed together... :sour:

What a crazy time.

So I am out shopping the other day. An obese woman was walking across the parking lot, suckin' on a Big Gulp. She was wearing a ratty t-shirt, and a ratty pair of denim cutoffs that exposed her scabby legs. She got into a beat up Ford Ranger (which looked like it should have been taken off the road years ago) and drove away. Emblazoned across the tailgate in white spraypaint: PRESIDENT TRUMP

This is a shallow assessment based on appearances, but everything about her screamed "I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON BUT I KNOW I DON'T LIKE IT." A typical Trump supporter? I cannot say...

A few minutes later I listened as a passionate conservative radio talk show host railed against the plot by the "mainstream" media and Hillary to attack Trump. The host did manage to slip in a bit about Trump helping them out with the crap he says. So in other words, Trump was getting unfairly attacked for stupidity, but the host was willing to admit Trump is stupid. Hilarious. Don't really need logic when you are appealing to emotions.

The Clinton Cash video. Wow, quite a revelation. So you're telling me money and corruption rule the world? Who would have thunk it!! How long has this been going on!?

Then there are the pitiful attempts to present Trump as a man of integrity, some sort of trailblazing super-genius who has all the answers and isn't afraid to take on the corrupt system. Talk about putting makeup on a pig!

Trump is an opportunistic, flip-flopping, rabble-rousing, sack of hot air who has had his eye on the Oval Office for decades. The "answers" he offers are often simultaneously horrifying in their implications, and hysterically funny in that they reveal he often isn't even sure what the question is.

I send a hug out across the universe to all the die-hard Trump supporters. Lacking options, they feel forced to dress him in a suit of shining armor and convince themselves a hero lies beneath that bad weave. My heart breaks for them all.

Of course, the die-hard Hillary supporters aren't much better off, except that their candidate is a slightly saner choice.

LOL at the Trump endorses Hillary video. What a difference four years (and running against her) makes. I assume Hillary will be using this in her ads.
