Hey everyone! I want to preface this by saying this is not for me, but for my friend who is a model on MFC.

She has been struggling with setting up OBS for a while on her Macbook (New Model), and recently has been having trouble running it. She did the walkthrough through the MFC wiki, however the feed appears to be either choppy, or nonexistent when she broadcasts.

After a while, we did a speed test and got the following info on her ISP and current connection speed:

- Ping: 38
- Download: 22.72
- Upload: 2.35

In general, she has been able to stream and cam at this speed, and is able to stream in SD, however any change to HD or OBS seems to cause the frames to drop and sputter.

If there is any additional info about setting it up for Mac that may help, and any additional info that may solve the frames issue, it would be greatly appreciated!

Not sure on the exact numbers for MFC.
But in general
1080 ( 1920x1080 ) 10mbps
720 ( 1280x720 ) 5mbps
480 ( 853x480 ) 2mbps

2.35 upload is like 480, anything above that it's going to be an issue.

Hi,
Values above seem also low to me.
Maybe given with a security marge (super quality, very nice sound and High fps....).

(I could broadcast on CB in 720p with my 0.97 Mbps adsl net ... but using 10fps, that is too low ok, but she has more than twice this rate and could reach 720p imo)

as seen on CB support for obs, what is needed is :
Resolution (WxH) Video Bitrate Audio Bitrate FPS
853x480 800 - 1200 kbps 96 kbps 24 - 30
1024x576 1200 - 3000 kbps 96 kbps 24 - 30
1280x720 3000 - 5000 kbps 96 kbps 24 - 30 <<< 'reachable' imo
1920x1080 5000 - 8000 kbps 128 kbps 24 - 30
2560x1440 8000 - 12000 kbps 192 kbps 24 - 30
3840x2160 12000 - 20000 kbps 192 kbps 24 - 30

OBS should do the thing, if mfc can't do it directly (I never tried mfc however)

But I think that she has or to perform another 'auto configuration' in OBS, or to spend time to adjust things in OBS
ie : 64k for Audio, 24fps for video, and maybe slow down the video bitrate :/

720p could also permit to have the same resolution on Cam, Canvas and output -> no resizing
(permit the use of bilinear fast filtering)

download

CB
MFC

it's basically the same on mac or pc.
You might get a prompt asking you to allow OBS to use your mic, camera, screen. Gotta click allow for it to work.
