I have a close friend that worked for MFC about a year ago. She has been really depressed the past couple weeks because she's realizing MFC records pretty much everything the models do and have it stored somewhere. Her biggest fear is that her friends and family will find out she did cam work and she's depressed to the point of being suicidal. I'm trying to find out more information about this site so I can maybe comfort her a bit about the chances of this actually happening. She worked on MFC for a couple months and didnt advertise or anything of that nature. Also, she told me that she thinks she was supposed to pay in taxes last year but didnt even get around to doing her taxes, will the IRS come after her?

Thank you for reading & I appreciate any help/info!!

I could be completely wrong, but I have my doubts about MFC recording everything (if any at all), that would be a shitload of footage, I mean, storing 10.000+ hours of footage everyday would cost a fortune, not to mention all the work!

why would you/she think that?

This is pretty much true. They can record your cam stream and use it however they want, but what they mainly use it for is saving Private chats for members to re-watch. From the MFC Wiki member's info: "Your private shows are recorded and available for you to watch again any time in your Archives section, absolutely free." It is in the contract that EVERY model signs before streaming for the first time that you can be recorded and your image used however the camsite wants. However, MFC rarely does anything except save Private chats for members; they don't post to tube sites or push external advertising with model's images.

However, even though MFC itself doesn't post to external sites, that doesn't mean that members haven't recorded her and uploaded the videos places/spread screenshots/etc. This is one of the generally accepted risks of camming; regardless of camscore, popularity, or body type, almost every model gets 'capped' and the videos uploaded to various sites.

Firstly, if she feels suicidal, then she needs to seek IMMEDIATE help. Suicide hotlines, ER, or a local mental health clinic are all good ways to get the help she needs to ensure that she lives a long, happy life. And as her friend, you should ensure that you make sure she gets that help! Please, please, PLEASE make sure that she gets help.

Now, as to her family finding out... The answer is that they might. The internet is a big place, and she made the decision to put herself out there and do adult work. Being outed/family and friends finding out is another occupational hazard that camgirls deal with. Obviously I have no idea how they might react, but even if they completely ostracized her, it is ALWAYS better to be alive!

If she made more than $600 last year (from camming and any other jobs combined) then yes, she owes taxes and should contact a CPA immediately regarding paying those back taxes to avoid getting in legal trouble. She could potentially get in trouble for tax evasion/failure to file.

Unlike Streamate, MFC doesn't use recorded footage to advertise on other sites, as far as we know. However there are people who record models and upload those recordings on tube sites or forums. That's probably what she saw, not recordings made by MFC. Your friend should have known that in this day and age people are able to record live streams. Being recorded and uploaded elsewhere is a risk that a girl needs to be aware of before starting to cam. It sucks that she feels so bad now, but I don't know how some girls don't realize that camming never means you're completely safe from being exposed :| Besides, her friends and family can also find out about her camming by finding her Twitter or even catching her live on cam, it doesn't have to happen through recordings.

Anyway, it's too late now.. Tell her to sign up on this forum and get verified as a model, there's lots of info in the models only section on how to get rid of capped shows that show up on other sites.

edit: OK, Gemma said everything I wanted to say and more. And better.

MFC does record models. Then lets users who paid for a private show, re-watch it as streaming video within their account. All sites just about record their streams. It is a legal requirement in case a crime is reported usually. That's not the problem for models though. There are a lot of users recording video from MFC. Primarily public shows in free chat, but also groups & privates. Then a small percentage of those people will share the recordings on adult tube sites, adult forums, & torrent sites. This happens the most to the most popular models.

There's always a chance a friend or family member could see it if video of a model is posted online. Though I tend to think the odds are relatively low. You have to go looking for videos of cam girls to find them usually. Even then the videos are very randomly named with just the model's screen name. Another reason for models not to use their real name as a screen name. And to never tell friends or family what screen name they do use. But there are a few topics around here on DMCA notices & how to go about getting a video removed if it is posted online somewhere. The model sending the link(s) to MFC support & asking them to do it is the best way.

Jebus. If your friend is having suicidal thoughts then she needs more than just the reassurance that MFC weren't recording her shows (which nobody here can give her) - your friend needs professional help. Realistically, if she was only camming a few months, I'd say it's fairly unlikely there'll be videos of her floating around online. It's always a possibility though.

Thank you so much for all of your responses. I helped her find a good therapist to help her with her depression/suicidal thoughts. She didnt have a twitter or any way of getting her mfc profile out there so anyone finding that isn't an option. She also hasn't cammed for over a year. We both searched the internet for hours looking for her screenname, even searching for camgirl videos on tube sites with her description of how she looked. We couldnt find anything except a post on a forum by a username called "bananasalad" & he posted bragging about how he had thousands of caps from MFC and posted a link to a torrent of a show she did. When we tried to view it, the link had been taken down. About the taxes, she made roughly 3000 dollars & hasnt paid so that may be an issue.

An important thing is not all hope is lost. There is a way to get rid of recordings on tube sites, via DMCA notices, which is stated in this link below... That's IF she discovers recordings of herself outside of MFC

https://www.ambercutie.com/forums/viewt ... 15&t=13635

Like Goldenaye mentioned, the chances of her being discovered (if capped & uploaded on other sites) is quite low given the oversaturation of porn across the internet. And as time passes, any recordings get buried even further under new recordings being uploaded daily.

That's what I told her! but she thinks MFC is going to someday sell the clips they have recorded for profit. I dont think they would ever need to do that considering the setup they have now is probably EXTREMELY, ridiculously profitable for them.

While I have my doubts about everything being recorded, I know they do so with privates and trueprivates. Recording all the cam streams going would take an INSANE amount of logistics, power and support staff. Raw video data takes up a lot of disk space, so considering that there are over 1100 models broadcasting right now on MFC, it would require quite the server farm in addition to their setup that already enables the simultaneous streaming.

That's not to say that MFC doesn't record it, but they certainly don't keep it very long (I can see them keeping video around for a 24-hour period in case there are disputes to settle between a model and a member) and the most certainly don't share it with the rest of th world.

Unfortunately if she's worried that she'll be recorded and found out by family members/friends, there is no way that she can be 100% sure that it won't happen. People can use a variety of tools to record shows and once they do, there's always a chance that they'll upload it to a few sites, other sites will rp the video from those sites, etc. Of course, the smaller her audience is, the smaller the chances are of her being capped and distributed far and wide in this manner.

A camgirl friend of mine asked me to look into ways to try and prevent her shows getting capped and uploaded roughly a year ago. What I found was a big pile of nothing. Just about the only hope you have is to appeal to the conscience of the guy who capped the show, and, well, most of the guys doing this feel that all entertainment should be gotten for free. Simply put, there is nothing you can do on your end to prevent them from recording. While sometimes the video stream itself is encrypted, that still won't stop screen recording software. And even if you somehow sto that, you can bet your ass they will just point a camera at their screen and record it that way.

In spite of our best efforts (no, really, she knew a board was after her and these guys were dumb enough to announce their every move on a thread we could anonymously watch) they STILL managed to get a recording out there a day or two before the forum got shut down for something unrelated that should have landed the lot of them in jail. The ugly truth is that there are just a few people out there who live on their very own plane of reality, where they should get everything they want righ now for free. If that notion is challenged, they will not rest until the thing preventing them (in this case the camgirl and her first mod) is in ashes. They can and will get th eir hands on a recording and upload it everywhere, check to see if it gets taken down and then just reupload until people stop bothering to report the files. Out of nothing but spite for the girl who DARED ask them for 5 bucks so they could get into the "getting rid of the lingerie" part of the show. Funnily enough, though, it seems that in their zeal to get these recordings, it never occurred to any of them to just cough up the cash and get in.

What I'm trying to get at here, is that the only 100% sure way to prevent her friends/family to find out about her camming, is to stop camming. I'll say that the risk of her getting discovered is very small, because a lot of things still need to line up before someone she knows stumbles on a video of her on redtube, let alone for him to also recognize her, but the risk is always there.

And finally, I'll just point to the bolded bit in Gemma's post:

This is not the job for her.

A little late for that as she's already quit camming.

That would be Streammate. MFC doesn't do that.

Yeah, I seriously doubt she needs to worry about that. MFC makes money hand over fist with its current model. But as several others have said guys who took her private will have recordings in their accounts, and if she did not opt out screen caps of her privates could show up in members private pic galleries.

As far as family/friends finding her videos, I have literally never stumbled across a video of a camgirl on tube sites, and those are typically the super popular models.

As far as her depression, I have been there and I am grateful I had a friend to help me through it, so good on you for sticking with her ;)

And this is why I ♡megan so much! Every thread I read there is something great from megan. Lmao

On a side note, since this girl has already quit it may help someone else, read the damn user agreement before you sign it! All of this info is in the user agreements, yes mfc records and yes they have the right to redistribute for profit or else if you dont want this happening then don't sign the agreement.

$3000 shouldn't have that much in taxes. If it's more than she can pay though, they are really good about installment agreements. It does mean she ends up paying more, but...

well, I'm going to be a little more open than most people. For 2010, I ended up owing somewhere around $800 in taxes. I dithered and didn't make the installment agreement until late in 2011, so it was going to be $150 a month for 6ish months, well past the April deadline for 2011 taxes. Then, a few moves and a bunch of bullshit made me lose my 1099's. Long story short, this past April I finally filed for 2011, 2012, and 2013, all at once. Guess what? I'm on installments again, $150 a month until sometime in November or December. At this point, I've finally finished paying on 2011, and am paying off 2012. Since my income fluctuated each year, they didn't ask me to do an estimated tax return, which is good, because it doesn't just fluctuate between years, but between months, so I literally have no clue what my annual camming income will be until the year is over.

So, tell her not to panic about the income taxes. Yes, she needs to file it as soon as possible, but they will work with her on payments.
