Although my hopes are high my expectations are low.

Its done and it's happening. I kinda believe he didnt even expect to actually win. He has to know the world is rooting for him to fail and go into history as the worst american president and hopefully that may influence him to actually try his best to be the best president he possibly can for as many Americans as he can.

Only time will tell and its unfair and STUPID to damn someone for sins they havent commited yet

I predict almost nothing will change for the average person and everything will just keep plodding along.

This is the only prediction that I would feel comfortable making so I went with neutral. Not quite sure what to expect from Trump as President. One thing I know for certain is that lazy goobers will continue to find new ways to blame everything on the President. The faces of the annoying goobers will have changed but the nauseating stupidity will remain the same. Diehard liberals have already become as awful to be around as the Obama hating hillbillies were.

I will say this:

The dripping disdain in his voice when he called out "Big Pharma" did feel pretty good to hear.

This is the sort of thing where his outsider status and "fuck you" attitude might be a boon. It's a far outside chance, but still a chance. If he did work on keeping his promise to turn the gaze inward, toward fixing broken systems and rebuilding American infrastructure -- the promises that got him elected -- it could even be possible that his presidency will result in a net positive legacy.

Completely agreed. I think this is something that both sides of the aisle can agree on. I'm a liberal and I can recognize the harm that's happening with drug companies right now. My cat was a diabetic, he's in remission now thank fuck, but when he was still actively diabetic I always cringed when I had to buy him more Lantis, since the price kept going up and up. Now, I pray he stays in remission, because I cannot afford $500 a vial that we'll only use half of since he's only on 2 units every twelve hours. And that's for a cat. Imagine the total cost for a human diabetic needing to use a much larger amount of units twice a day; a family friend uses upwards of 27 every twelve hours, so he goes through his Lantis pens like water.

Completely agreed. Even as a liberal, I can recognize the harm that's happening with drug companies right now.
Honestly this makes more sense AS a liberal. Many of Trumps promises in fact are the complete and total opposite of fiscal conservationism, and are things you would most likely find on the agenda of a democrat.

Good point! I suppose I'm having a hard time articulating myself today. How unfortunate. I do tend to find even my republican family feels the same way, however less strongly than I do. Though, that might have to do with them seeing my medical fiascoes go down--you shouldn't be forced into abject poverty as a family because of medically necessary surgeries to remove a tumor.

Going to be a historic change. Few yet understand, or will agree with, the Trump Presidency is on a scale comparable to the fall of the roman empire. As such it will take a while for most to get to grips with it. Most people in America are going to be happy. Going to be tough of those that attempt to stand in the way of the changes, such as Canada, California and those holding to old power structures.

Economy and politics.

Damn, I really wanted to read your thoughts.

I don't mean this as a jab at you, I'm just exhausted by the echo chamber of you tube link debates.

The office of President of The United States isn't half as powerful as people think, he will be guided and cajoled by so many advisors and state departments. Trump will be a very middle of the road President and will be gone in 4 years, Im from the UK and I genuinely believe that the Democrats ruined their chances throwing all their weight behind a flawed candidate in Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders was a genuine progressive choice

For reference to non-Canadians, Kevin O'Leary is a businessman/reality TV host who is considering running for leader of the Conservative party (essentially Canada's Republicans). Stop me if you've heard this one...
For US American's Kevin's the meanest/toughest Shark on Shark Tank.(Dragon's Den in Canada). I didn't know he was Canadian. Geez two mean Canadians in one day.:yikes:

I agree with your assessment of the President's power. However, my fear comes from the situation of the same party, with all of their extreme positions, control all of the branches of Government. The veto is probably non-existent now, until that control changes.
There have been many years of Congressional inaction and people are sick of "gridlock", but passing everything unchecked is also as dangerous.
Time will tell, but as I stated in an earlier post, the incoming administration reminds me so much of Nixon's second term. Secretive (releasing tax returns) and confrontational (berating the press and individuals the disagree or insults him).
Time will tell what the effects will be.

US-Canada relations will get so bad that a US invasion of Canada will be on the cards.
It seems silly but who knows anymore.
I think you're giving Trump entirely too much credit though haha.

I don't think an invasion of Canada is on the table. That's a bit reactionary. At worst, Canada will lower trade relations with us and maybe induce tariffs. There's nothing short of military hostility to indicate full on invasions would happen, and even if they did Europe would get involved in short order. Congress is not so eager to take on Canada because they know Europe would disapprove and it would drastically effect our economy in trading and banking to do so. And not in a good way. We aren't an imperial world anymore.

I don't know? On one hand he is not who he ran as. He is not a conservative, he doesn't give AF about abortion and he called second corinthians, "two corinthians" when he was pretending to be evangelical. His kids couldn't even vote in the primaries because they are rich big city NYC registered Democrats. What is more troubling is who he has put in his cabinet. He knows he has to appease the alt right who put him in office or he's out. He's going to save jobs like with the Carrier deal by using socialistic measures that his type are supposedly against! Conservatives hate socialism when Bernie is trying to get them education and healthcare but love it when it saves their blue collar job that according to free market theory shouldn't even exist in America!

All I know about politics is @###$# it; America is about the ppl. We make this country great, not the politicians. I have yet to see any opportunities created for me because of someone in office.

Lastly, our politics are grounded in the status quo. I know I know-- Change, revolution and making America great again and all BS related to the idea that our country sucks, but our country is successful because we know how to maintain the status quo and a regime change doesn't represent a 360 shift, just a different ideology and a different form of lawmaking and #R#R talking.

So I'm neutral on it. I think he will do well in some areas and suck in others. Most of us who aren't dirt poor or really rich won't feel any of it.

(minor comment--sorry to keep quoting your posts :) ) I hope he is looking at this like he did his tv show and, to get the snakes out of the grass, nails the politicians with "You're Fired." I know politicians have term limits, but, if one isn't doing the job, I don't think Trump would be reluctant to twitter that out to the American public and let the peoples know. I don't think he is in any sort of brother/sisterhood with those people.

It would be nice to see some of these long term politicians finally have to get real jobs instead of living off the taxpayer. I know: I dream.

No lie @Puffin this may be the first time my feelings are hurt by a facepalm. I was genuinely really interested in your thoughts because it's not something I've heard someone say before.

Politicians seem to usually go to work as lobbyists when they get turfed out. Sometimes officially, sometimes not so officially.

Does this mean I get to 'take' a Canadian wife? I do love their accents and had a blast when I was in Canada. The ladies were so nice and I love the way they sound. Will King Trum let us invade Eastern Europe too? How about Ethiopia, I have a thing for East African women too!

Why didn't I support the Trump Train, he is going to build me a harem to rival Solomon's!

Omg, crazy speach, this is how fasism starts, civilization just lost America, we in the old world must do it now alone, yes we can.

I think it will be same old same old

Nothing too drastic will change, nothing too drastic will happen

In 4 years you will just be able to enjoy a goofs n gaffs video like G.W Bush has

The most worrying part to me was his hint at doubling down on the War on Drugs. As if that hasn't been a big enough disaster as it is.

That would be really really dumb. As dumb as politicians can get. We have had years of this from democrats and republicans. I know trump doesn't drink or do drugs or sleep much, but come on! Again, a war on drugs is what? The stuff that that is toxic and can get your house condemned if you create it in your home (meth) or the the stuff that is addictive and makes you a slave for a fix (heroin, meth). Or is it it a combination of those and pot. I do love pot--I haven't smoked it in years (I just don't like the sellers because they all seem shady because it is illegal and I don't like people anyway) and I am glad that states are making money off of it and I wish mine would too. But, my brother and mother could have used it for cancer treatments and at least they had big pharma to help :)(). I think trying to focus on the destructive stuff wouldn't be bad, but let's look at science instead of dumb propaganda please.

Totally not something I wanted to read.
