Almost finished with The Killing Joke was debating on reading it for a while because it's one of my favorite Batman story lines. But the books actually really good. Got Mad Love to read through next and 1 more of them to pick up which is House of Owls

I just started the first Witcher book. After playing the games & watching the show, I needed to have that world better embedded inside my brain apparently. 😅

I haven't shared anything in here in a while. Right now I just started the Hip Hop Yearbook by Shea Serrano. My best friend got me that one and Movies and Other Things also by Shea Serrano for Christmas. Shea is fun/fresh writer and I love his sense of humor. I had read some of his stuff on Grantland and The Ringer. But, I was visiting my friend a few months ago and read the Michael Myers Press Conference from the movies book because it was on his my friends coffee table. I laughed so fuckin hard at that chapter. Which gave way to my Christmas gifts. I haven't made it to a chapter in the Hip Hop Yearbook of a song I really like, but I'm thinking "Mind's Playing Tricks On Me" by Geto Boys is going to be that chapter. As just on my own accord I have so many thoughts about that song and if you're familiar with it. You probably have your own so I'm looking forward to Shea's take.

So I gave up on reading my previous book and started reading Deadliest Enemy. Kind of an interest of mine given prior occupations.

The Killing Joke was pretty food, mad love isnt too bad either so far

Just finished reading Ring (or Rings depending on the edition) by Koji Suzuki. It was the basis for The Ring movies. I liked it, but honestly, it wasn’t what I expected it to be. Maybe I’m desensitized to horror stuff, but I found it to be more of a thriller/mystery novel than a horror one.

I’ve only seen the American remake of the original Japanese film. Compared to the American film there was quite a few differences, and I can’t really tell which plot I liked more. Anyway, I’m about to start on the sequel, Spiral, and I’ll probably end up renting the original film sometime this week.

Right now I'm reading the amber cutie forum

The art of Game design: A book of lenses to prepare for the Ludum Dare 46 hackaton. That book is genius.

I'm reading "how to get your shit together" by sarah knight.

... this is where my life is right now hahaha

(and regarding the keeping books question - i used to. i now pass nearly all of them on (i love those mini curbside libraries) except for very very special books. But i don't buy paper anymore - everything is kindle unless it has pictures that i need to see (art books etc)

How is it? Seems like what I need about now.

Currently reading Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup

Do you like it? I considered picking it up but then I got Assassin's Apprentice instead so that's what I'm reading at the moment. I'm not too far in but I'm enjoying it, the writing is wonderful.

I do read "fun" things, but I'm usually also reading some sort of self-help/social-work/psychology/kink books too. This has been one of my favorite books I've come across. I'm a newbie to this industry but I've already found ways to apply some of the things I've learned from this in my work, and in my self-care. There isn't enough literature for sex workers that put us in a positive light, IMO.

Once I'm done rereading this, I'm hoping to get my hands on a copy of Jiz Lee's Coming Out Like a Porn Star :) it's supposed to be really good too.

I read a bit on the Witcher book, and it was shit. But it's probably because I'm more of a tv guy.

To be honest, the style of books you're looking for or mentioning sounds heaps boring. Although, probably social work to help people with disabilities would be pretty good.

Just finished Bernard Cornwell's "Sword of Kings", the 12th book in the Saxon Stories series about Uhtred of Bebbanburg. It's set in 9th/10th century England, before England technically existed. It's fiction, but based on real events.

Idk why I haven't gotten in on this thread sooner! I'm currently reading There There by Tommy Orange and listening to So You Want to Talk About Race by Ijeoma Oluo as an audiobook. I'm also sort of reading The Wind Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami, though I had to return it to the library yesterday so I won't be able to finish it until I can check it out again.

My goal is to read 52 books this year, but the library was closed for 3 months which really threw me off.

Your library might allow you to borrow e-books or audiobooks! Worth checking out ^__^

So I don't dp, some books I read this month that are worth checking out ~

"The Song of Achilles" by Madeline Miller

"The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo" by Taylor Jenkins Reid

"You Should See Me in a Crown" by Leah Johnson

Do you use Kindle or Prime? If you have Amazon Prime, there are tons of free books you can get to read on Kindle (Not referring to Kindle Unlimited). You don't need a Kindle device as there are Kindle Apps for Android or iPhone devices. Or, the Kindle Cloud reader which allows you to read through a browser.

I use Libby for audiobooks/e-books, but I'm pretty particular about the books that I'm willing to listen to or read on a screen. Plus the wait time for books from my library through Libby is usually 2+ months. I also don't have Amazon Prime.

Understandable and was thinking of an option for other books that didn’t cost anything.

I only do audiobooks, currently Peace Talks (The Dresden Files #16), love that series . Should finish it in 3-4 days and not sure what to get next. Might just wait for Critical Mass (Expeditionary Force, #10) to be released (08-04-20).
