I assumed that was what he was saying, but honestly, I have no idea. I rather thought he was being a bit pedantic.
hmmm, yes, shallow and pedantic

I dont like that supposedly liberal and tolerant people start calling for someone to die just because they do something they disagree with.
Oh sweet summer child. But seriously I've seen so many "liberals" sending death/rape threats to other liberals because they were not radical enough.

She demonstrated that racists, antisemites and other evil people live among us in unimaginable numbers. But really, I already knew that...it's always just beneath the surface.
No, her show was most likely advertised on /pol/ which brought tons of "edgy trolls" who think racist posts make them cool. This is only manufactured drama.

That's interesting! I don't know for sure what they are taught, I wonder. BUT I do consider myself very familiar with harajuku and it's pretty purely edgy fashion in this case. I guess I was only illustrating that people take nazi imagery/culture and use it in a lot of different ways so I don't find it all that shocking to begin with..

Hello, First time to post here and must be off-topic but...

Harajuku is kinda special town of pop culture as you know. or i should say its super bizarre place for us common Japanese.I DO NOT believe that those kids in Nazi fashion have some knowledge about the meaning of it.

I still remember the time the popular pop singer Kenji Sawasa in late 70s sang his new song in Nazi uniform.

(cant find the pics of him in that costume or video in any Japanese sites, i guess those are completely and strictly banned)

Now we can say it was just a silly misunderstanding of punk fashion in Lodon at that time, but of course it became a big scandal for him, Later he officially apologized if my memory of childhood was correct. If someone was in Nazi Cosplay on common magazine or TV, he/ she would be bashed terribly in modern Japanese society. in Fact. the former prime minister Aso had made a stupid joke about Nazism and its propaganda two years ago, Newspapers, TV, WEB most of media criticized him.
Japanese government minister's Nazi remarks cause furor

Our Granpa was on the side of the Nazis? really? Yeah they( or we?) were in Axis, but never have been "on the side" of the Nazis. Even that crazy racist, the former Governor of Tokyo, Ishihara would claim that it was just a political strategy to fight against the imperialism which conquered Asia. The old Japanese Army was stupid enough to take the same way with Western imperialism, Thats all.

First of all, we Japanese are "inferior race" for Nazis, How we could be friends?
=P

About history classes, Ours must be almost the same with yours. I mean same with in the school of United States and EU countries, And that made things complicated in current Eastern Asia.

Very likely true...still, real or fake, that kind of nastiness is way over the top, and disgusting. I mean, if someone tells a racist joke, are they innocent of being racist? Only in some academic technical sense.

I mean, if someone tells a racist joke, are they innocent of being racist?

It's all about context, where is the joke being told, who is it being told to and who is it directed at. I'm mixed race, half English and half Jamaican. I sometimes make racist jokes and I laugh at them too. Am I a racist? Absolutely not, having experienced real racism in my life it's not something I would wish on anyone.

A quick google for racist definition came up with this - "a person who believes that a particular race is superior to another". Therefore telling a racist joke does not make someone a racist at all. It might give away that someone is a racist if all their jokes are aimed at one race in particular and they believe the jokes to be true then they probably are a racist but someone telling one joke does not automatically make them a racist and people that believe that are being oversensitive.

I dont think any subject should be off limits to jokes in general terms. I would only have a problem if they became personal. A joke about 9/11 is fine to me. Saying to a person "hahaha your relative died in 9/11" is not. There is a very big difference.

I think this should be very interesting... and I am annoyed that I can't stay up late to watch this.

So ya, thought ya, might like, to go to the show...

You won't miss anything regarding Olivia's radioshow. She controls the flow, the guests and it'll likely just be an opportunity for her (and her supporters) to drive home the point that she's "the victim" in all of this. Her usual crowd will tip madly and profess their love. Haters will hate and be muted, then complain they don't have free speech.... and she'll come back in a couple days with something even more offensive to stir the pot. Perhaps kill a stuffed toy Lion? Hmmm... that would be a genius idea. Death by dildo.

On an amusing note... you get to hear her talk, which is bizarre to listen to as she's Romanian and tries hard to sound American or maybe even Kiwi (NZ), where she likes to pretend she lives. It's all green (or blue) screen in Romania.
I'd love to ask her about these claims that she is in fact.. Jewish. Which somehow makes the whole Nazi thing "okay".
Is she Jewish? haha... NO. Is she going to tell the real truth about anything? NO. It's all a show in virtualworld.

Olivia is just a clown using gimmicks to avoid the fact that she doesn't really get sexual on a porn site. On a comedy site, she'd fail but, on a porn site she's an entertaining oddity. As many people have pointed out, the fact she makes incredible money is what draws so much attention, both good and bad.

How could you possibly know if she is or is not Jewish? That's absurd.

This whole hubbub is just absurd... We'll all forget about it in a week though, and that'll be nice.

Unless she has dual citizenship and is speaking directly in the United States or one of it's territories then the 1st Amendment does not qualify for a Romanian national..

Promise I didn't go looking for this. it just appeared as if by internet bot magic....

Saw her tweet whining about being taken off-air and free speech. She knows the First Amendment does not apply to private businesses, right? And since she was banned for what, 5 minutes, what is her problem? She is favoured by MFC admin way more than many (most?) models.

How could you possibly know if she is or is not Jewish? That's absurd.

You can't really know if someone is jewish or not judging from their looks only, but bone structure and physical features are sometimes an indicator. She doesn't really look jewish. Her face and her body don't really seem jewish to me. She could still be jewish, a few jews here and there do look and seem caucasian. Then there is the fact that she is romanian and most romanian jews where either wiped out by the nazis (go figure) or escaped. Google tells me the jewish community in Romania is 13000 people, although the official census is 6000 (out of 23 million). So I would say chances that she is jewish, considering her looks, her nationality, the way she defends islam and the nazi show we just witnessed are slim.

One poster (on her profile wall) is daring this other poster to contact him so they can duke it out in person.

My take on the matter is that she has the right to do whatever she wants with her platform, as I have the right to not give her my tokens and leave her room well alone. In my opinion its crass, tacky and unworthy of what is essentially my leisure time. The next model/hide model is a wonderful feature

Do I think shes racist? hell no, I think shes doing what has proved successful for her and proves the old adage that "no press is bad press"

On an aside I don't know why but I keep coming back to this quote when reading through this thread, By one of my favorite Englishmen

It's not her platform. That's what i was saying earlier - it's fine to do whatever she likes. But to complain when the company she's using the platform of disagrees and pulls the plug as they don't want that representation and so on appearing on their site - she can't say they shouldn't stop it and claim freedom of speech. She has no legs to stand on.

Listening to her radio - it's a struggle.

The thing is...she's not from the US. I will not state for certain where she IS from.. but she went to Cuba on one of her many vacations..... even now with the newer regulations it is still difficult for someone with a US Passport to go to Cuba. At the time she went, it was damn near impossible. So her standing on "Free Speech" is a bit of a straw man.

If she truly believes it, then I agree. But I can't help but wonder if this is just an extension of the massive troll she pulled off; if that is the case, then I consider it to be pure genius.

I don't like to tip Olivia, simply because she does not need it. If I can only afford to give two 50 token tips, I would much rather give them to someone who is hungry enough to appreciate them. Still, this stunt has convinced me I need to get to work on composing two 140 character tipnotes. Well played, ma'am.

In reality-- it is marketing genius. Love it, hate it.. whatever feels you may have-- she pulled off a massive troll and since MFC isn't going to punish one of their biggest cash cows-- she's gonna get away with it. In a way, I envy her-- I'd love to just have one night of her earnings, just one.

So, from what I gathered from the radio show, Olivia was trying to justify her act by stating a symbol is just symbol; it doesn't cause someone to kill or oppress. However, even though she is technically correct, was it the right thing to do? In my opinion, I believe not.

For instance, if I walked up to you and gave you the finger or told you to fuck off, you would either be offended or rather confused. Both of these statements are, in a sense, a symbol that represents distaste towards an individual. Yes, to me, maybe I meant that finger or fuck off as a greeting of hello or a funny statement, though, the individual can easily mistaken it if he or she does not know what I intended it to be.

This is more about respect than freedom of speech. For me, I thought it was disrespectful and distasteful towards the community because everyone recognizes the Nazi symbol as antisemitism and oppressive. Whoever wasn't in her little tight knit group of followers had no idea want to think or expect and, in essence, were getting a huge finger or fuck off from Olivia. Mostly, this is due to her poor execution and attempt at trying to make the symbol and situation funny and/or meaningful.

Also, I find her argument for the Nazi symbols just being a symbol hypocritical since she, herself, has a symbol: "4naked". From what I gather, this is a group that represents Olivia via this symbol. For her to not understand what a symbol can represent to a particular group of individuals is, in my opinion, ridiculous and what she did was insensitive, disrespectful, and a cheap ploy for publicity.

Why else would she want to express freedom of speech like this? There are plenty of other ways to express freedom of speech without offending and alienating an entire community on MFC.

I'm not so sure that she alienated or offended an entire community.
Hard to say for sure. Only way we will ever know is if we find somebody willing to speak for an entire community and ask them. :lipssealed:

Tonight she aired some of her past spoofs - Castro, terrorists, the Pope... of course the PC crowd was never offended by her mocking the Pope back in the day. No outrage there, same as there was no outrage at her wearing Soviet stuff the other night - just the Nazi costume. Funny, that.

4chan trolled her radio show while the same trolls who've been in her room calling her "ugly whore" (and worse) the last few days stayed in there several hours spamming hate at her. She never lost her joy; I admire that.

For someone who "alienated and offended an entire community" she stayed #1 and the tips kept flowing. None of the hate being directed at her has phased her one bit. It has galvanized her regulars and attracted new viewers.

Well... how could I possibly know everything else about her? People talk, usually about themselves. Olivia used to chat in the old days. And viewers like me chat with other viewers, and so on...

Holy hell... this girl has pulled in more tokens in 3 days than the average camgirl will make all month. 20K tips one after another. She has a BadGF style travel raffle going on and each ticket is 2000 tkn. The raffle bowl is already loaded.
"We're gonna need a bigger bowl"

Olivia could win the award for running the most pre-recorded video (as opposed to live). I thought movie night thing was bad enough but half her stuff tonight was off tape.
