I'm sorry but I personally fail to see the humor in a joke about a seriously debilitating mental illness.

I'm sorry if my post offended you. The joke was not about the illness itself, or anyone suffering from it.

I think the context in which something is said has a lot to do with whether it's inappropriate or not.

I just think it's poor taste to make a joke about something unless you yourself personally have felt the effects of it. If you have I take back my original comment and apologize for the assumption.

I myself have several forms of anxiety. One of which is a debilitating phobia disorder. I make a lot of jokes about how ridiculous it is. Sometimes my friends and family make jokes to me directly about it. I laugh at those jokes usually. Because it's my lived experience and they understand it first hand.

Your joke didn't offend me personally. I just worry what if there was someone on the forum with Disassociative identity disorder? It's a mental illness that carries a really bad stigma because of false public knowledge about it and people that have it struggle a lot more than they should have to because of it. Often they themselves are victim to a lot of violence and homelessness because of stigma that surrounds the illness. People see them as completely unhinged and treat them very poorly.

I should have waited to post until I had time to elaborate more on why I found it in poor taste. I'm sorry I didn't wait because my comment came off as shaming you for your joke instead of educating as to why those types of jokes might be hurtful because I know that most people aren't intentionally malicious and honestly just don't realize.

I hope I've made a little more sense. I don't wish to derail this thread further so I'm going to refrain from commenting further. However I would be happy to discuss further elsewhere.

But it was just a joke... No one was victimizing anyone.

OMG... this thread is a brilliant drama-filled triggered rollercoaster. :inlove:

I have a feeling we are all projecting our life time experiences on this thread, and that we kinda lost direction, or objectivity.
Can we get Dr. Kevorkian to kill this thread already?
DON'T YOU EVER KILL THIS THREAD. I NEED IT. IT FUELS ME.

I'm not sure I've ever seen someone go out of the way to destroy their reputation so thoroughly. That was beautiful and horrible, like a volcano wiping out an island.

And now offense over a completely ridiculous hypothetical situation too? I'm not even enjoying the popcorn anymore but I need it..

Whew. And to think I was this close to making a joke about a bunch of people being on the rag.

A moment of silence please; let's all bow our heads for the tragic plight of those poor loons.

Was pretty insensitive. I would imagine all the women out there in dysfunctional, co dependant relationships ought to be equally outraged by Alex's comparison. They are victims, not nutjobs.

Yes, back to the unfolding debacle...

I have spent a great deal of time imagining how I might live my life if I could go back and relive it as a beautiful woman. Safe to say, it would involve whoring of some sort.

Now I would probably be a high-end escort, munching on shrimp and sipping champagne in penthouses all over the world. I just wouldn't be content with this small time webcam stuff. But who is to say I might not need to do it early on for promotional purposes while I was trying to build my brand?

If did go that route, I have always thought I might need to rely on the Boleyn agency for all my daily pay needs (at least until I could get my meth issues sorted out and get on my feet). After seeing the disgraceful way they have conducted themselves in this thread though...well, it is just no longer an option.

I realize this thread has gone in a variety of directions, but let this be the end of discussion about what jokes are allowed to be made and not. Alex meant no harm, leave it be.

Edit to add: I haven't locked this thread in case the studio has any more to say on their behalf, or if anyone else feels inclined to share their experiences with the studio. Please refrain from reporting posts and/or requesting for closure of the thread.

This is why humor is subjective. It's just a joke, not meant to offend people with DID. It is just making light of the current situation. Obviously a lot of people were let down, and I appreciate Alex trying to make us laugh. It made me giggle a little bit.

In other words, lighten up! Laugh a little. I laugh at my debilitating anxiety all the time :D

You should check out United States of Tara. It's a dark humor series about a suburban mother with DID. I believe it was on Showtime?
OH MAN I FORGOT I MEAN TO WATCH THIS! Thank you!

I can understand where your concern is coming from. I would certainly never say anything out of malice and appreciate you outlining the reasons you found the post to be in poor taste.

I have a strong understanding of mental health issues (including MPD), and the challenges that people who suffer from these illnesses face and I can't say I share the same sentiment as you in relation to this specific comment.

I won't comment on this any further also as I appreciate that it's off topic.

Plot twist: There never was a husband, Katie has been suffering from a rare form of split personality disorder that is only coming to light now... We think there's two of them but instead, it's just Katie in her basement, frantically trying to gain control of the situation before her other personality takes control again!

Hi Alex.I generally like what you post and, with some variations, tend to agree with you on many opinions. The only reason this got my hackles up is that Katy has not been personally attacked. We have questioned and criticized her handling of this thread, but her integrity as a person has been left alone. I think that's something very important in all arguments about issues. Discuss the issue, do not attack the person.

While there was some humor in your post, and it seems the intent was humor, it did attack her personhood for the first time, and I felt sad to see the thread go in that direction. I think that is why it raised some hackles.

I've been a member here for a long time. I'm not a perfect member, and I've been in-and-out a few times because life events pulled me away from this amazing and unique forum. I have great respect for Amber, and I strive to be a good member of this community (sometimes falling short). There are certainly exceptions. but we generally avoid personal affronts that could cause emotional harm to others None of us are perfect, and we all have our bad-judgment days or days when we don't fully think through our words.

Amber supported your post as a joke, and I respect Amber. I just wanted to point out that words do have power, and that post, even though parts were cute, seemed to attack Katy personally in a way that hadn't been done before in this thread.

Ok. Enough from me. Carry-on. Feel free to tribute to my pop-corn, snickers, and wine fund.

I didn't intend on personally attacking anyone, I can see what you mean though and it was more of a joke aimed at the contradictory comments being posted by her and her husband, not a personal attack.

If it did come across like that I apologize as that's not what I intended to do and I apologize to Katy if that's the way it seemed. I don't know her personally, nor have I had any dealings with her.

This is a public forum and they were publicly saying a lot of outrageous things... I would have hoped any comments I made would have been construed as being against the comments they were making rather than them as individuals.

Hmmm.... thanks for the offer but I think I'd prefer tribute to my own o_O

@Alex_M_21 -- A great post. Cheers from my wine and popcorn fund to yours!

This thread is interesting. From what I'm reading, they are excellent as long as everything is in order. They don't seem to handle user end mistakes very well.
In my case, I entered the wrong account number for direct deposit. While my funds were still pending, I updated the information and received confirmation on the screen that the updates were saved.
Several days go by and the status claims they have already paid me which is horsesh*t so I email support. I had to go back and forth with them because they kept insisting they already paid. I even sent a screenshot of my account showing I was NOT paid. With my bank, you cannot delete transactions from your history btw.
At this point, I offer to do a conference call with my bank. Perhaps this is the point where they took me seriously? I can't say.

They seemed nice enough in their interaction though it was a no go when I asked for just a portion of this money ahead of time to pay past due bills. And I only asked because while I did make an error, it should have been an easy one to fix by updating my account. Some of the error was on them/their system too.
Anyway besides all that my real issue is that the explanations didn't sit right. First red flag was the claim they never received the email that it had updated in the system. I don't believe that.
Second red flag was the claim that my account had somehow been verified with the initial incorrect entry. Don't see how that could be either.
So, at this point, I am just trying to allow the additional 2 days for verification and see what happens. I feel uneasy about them now but I will be updating.

Update. I have received my money. I'm not sure what to believe exactly. Time will tell I suppose. But I am just happy to at least be able to keep my head above water for a while.

I am glad your payment got sorted out. In their defense, bank transactions vary from bank to bank. I worked for a couple banks and there would be pending transactions that only the bank can see. It is very possible that the payment was sent and when it went to be deposited the bank rejected it. Also, you would not be able to view this since you only have access to the "correct account". A lot goes on in back office.

I can understand BM's frustration with user errors because they delay the process. Unfortunately, it happens because we are all human!

Sorry to hear the trouble you've experienced with Boleyn. I've been with them for a few months, so can only speak from my short experience with them but they have been pretty good with me so far...There were a couple of issues with the horrible exchange from FC which they sorted out quickly for me.

Sorry for reviving an old thread, but I didn't want to start a new one. I just discovered this studio, BUT I noticed you can only work on MFC through them if you've NEVER worked on MFC before.

I have been lucky and found a way to start over on MFC once.... I don't know how, I was dormant for a very long time and then used a different (I got divorced) new last name.

Has anyone had success signing with BM after already working independently on MFC? My reason to sign with them would be for the employment/income verification (for a new rental agreement down the road, etc.) This part is slightly confusing to me though...it sounds like you are still a contractor (1099). What kind of income verification can BM provide that any other 1099 contractor can't normally do?

As I understand, they provide an employment letter. I've never used the feature, so I can't tell you exactly what it contains.

Honestly it's not worth it to lose the extra percentage just for income verification. I have moved five times since I've been camming and no one has ever once questioned my 1099. I've never even been asked to be more specific about my job outside of "independent contractor". I've been with Boleyn for years and they're great but that's not a feature I would switch to them for alone.

To answer your first question they will not let you transfer any mfc account to their studio. They have tried to get mfc to work with them, and mfc refuses to transfer accounts. So unless you've never signed up for mfc before, you will be unable to transfer your account to Boleyn. Even if it's an "independent" account.
